History

Established in 2010.

Abel’s Pub opened on November 9, 2010 in the previous location of the Pine Lounge which graced these grounds from 1968 until 2008. The Pub was named after the first mayor of Binghamton, Abel Bennett. Abel owned much of the land adjacent to Abel’s Pub which he eventually subdivided in small farm plots which now make up the westside of Binghamton. Abel is credited for inventing the coal elevator and for starting several businesses and banks in the 1860’s and 70’s in Binghamton. However is biggest influence on this business was the introduction of trolley cars to the westside of Binghamton, which led to the development of the streets and neighborhoods from which many of our customers reside.
