Business Owner

Susan Smith, SPHR began her career with operational and financial management positions at AT&T and at Citicorp’s Advance Mortgage Corporation. Her professional recruiting career started in 1984 when she joined a large national search firm. In 1992 she launched Smith Professional Search. She earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Wayne State University with a major in Personnel and Industrial Relations.

Susan has been a member of the Human Resources Association of Greater Detroit since 1985 and served as President of the Association in 2003 – 4. She received her SPHR certification in 1998. The Michigan State Council of SHRM appointed her to the role of Eastern District Director for 2005 – 9 and appointed her to SHRM Foundation Director in 2010. In 2004 she was invited to join one of SHRM’s National Expertise Panels, Staffing Management, for a three-​year term.
