This place is absolutely amazing. Finally got to try the Gator sausage on a bun. And it hit the spot! A small little spice added to the sausage. I can say if you can’t handle the smell of seafood then this might not be the place for you to sit and eat. Just order and go if you can’t handle it. I love the fresh seafood smell. So it didn’t bother me. The cooks are awesome as well. They educate you about the food they have available. Also, they had these amazing eggrolls filled with jambalaya. These are so good! Not sure who thought of this evil idea, but I salute you sir or mam! Definitely coming back for more before I get out of town. No complaints with the prices. I’m not sure about the hours. Just call before going to make sure the deli side is open. They have fresh seafood in the market as well that you can buy. If I lived here I would definitely buy from them. 5 stars with ease.

Excellent seafood served at the local fish mart. Don’t let the décor fool you; there’s a real chef in that kitchen.

All of the 5-star reviews are correct, but as you may know, I RARELY give 5 stars. Biloxi has some good food, and this is one of the best places for lunch or a snack. Yes, it’s casual(and NO, it is not a «dive.» Just CASUAL). I have had the gumbo, fish po-boy, and various specials(usually creole-inspired, grilled fish with a shellfish stuffing or topping). All have been quite amazing. Fish spiced and grilled perfectly, seafood fried crisp and medium-rare in the center. This is ESPECIALLY important for oysters, and they flash fry like a pro. In fact, the head chef is a pro, and quite a gentleman, hand-delivering my last to-go order to my table. As a seafood market it is clean and well-stocked, with tons of Gulf seafood on display. And no, the crawfish are NOT from China.(Note: I do NOT order or buy or eat imported seafood at any time). All local/regional. CONS: Well, they do close sometimes ;)

This is the best seafood I have ever had. Super fresh food and a friendly staff, make this a great place to visit over and over again. I recommend the Amber-fish plate, the Chef puts the perfect seasoning and cooks to a heavenly tasting goodness. Thank you Desporte & Sons for the best sea food I have ever had.

With temperatures in the 50 ‘s outside and fresh boiled crawfish inside, with that wonderful smell of crawfish boil seasoning, it’s a 5 star top notch stop. You can special order your crawfish with corn, potatoes and sausage(supplying your own) for a feast that’s sure to make you howl. Getting your cold fingers on hot tails(crawfish tails that is) is worth the wait, usually about an hour for special orders. This is definitely my go to spot for crawfish and fresh shrimp. Customer service is awesome and the personalization received is fantastic.

Desporte & Sons is a small seafood market, the restaurant portion is called JR’s Deli and it’s inside on the left after you walk in. It’ll maybe seat 20 and it can get busy at lunch so expect to order it to go. The first time I tried this place two years ago I ordered the a soft shell crab dressed with lettuce and mayo on a bun. I remember this vividly because it was so good my hands started shaking. Today I ordered the same sandwich as a po’ boy and although my hands didn’t shake this time it was still good. The bread is as fresh as I remembered it to be. I also ordered a pound of crawfish. It came out immediately, seasoned to spicy perfection but I was disappointed by how lukewarm it was. I would’ve preferred waiting a few minutes if that meant that it would’ve come out hot. Staff is super friendly and there are free refills on sweet tea; I’ll be back the next time I’m in Biloxi!

For one last lunch in Gulfport/Biloxi, we found DesPortes & Sons. We had actually driven buy it the day before but it was closed on Monday. The place is a fresh seafood market that also serves food. They do a lot of carry out, but there are a few tables and we managed to grab one. The place held real promise with lots of local workers and business people coming in. I had to try gumbo again. This was a large serving and was so hot at first I could not even taste it. As it cooled, I began to sort out a medium brown roux style with no tomato. It had very tiny shrimp only(or were they crawfish?), no crab, oysters. I really thought it needed more depth of flavors, perhaps more sweetness form vegetables and more spicy heat. I will say that as it cooled, I appreciated it more and more. My final judgment is that it is good, not great, probably 3 to 3−½ stars. Ms T had crawfish étouffée which was very herbal(probably thyme). That overwhelmed any seafood flavor. My fried shrimp were very small, but seasoned well. They really had too much batter coating for their size, any shrimp flavor was lost to the coating. I liked my Jambalaya Egg Roll. It had a lot of onion in the rice based stuffing, but it was good. The hushpuppies were fried very dark and were also oniony. DesPortes & Sons did not live up to the promise for us. The food was OK, but not above three stars. We just did not find any of the items to four star rating. We agreed we would try other places first before returning.

We decided to walk here from the Beau since it was close enough… about 15 blocks… definitely not a bad lunch spot if you’re tired of casino food or want fresh seafood. We ordered the boiled shrimp, cup of seafood gumbo, catfish special with potato salad and crawfish etoufee and grouper from the market which they fried and made into a poboy with 2 sides for 4 dollars more. Best items were the boiled shrimp and potato salad(which has bacon in it). I’d definitely come back again next time I’m in town.

In the last TWO weeks I have returned to Desporte’s for crab étouffée THREETIMES. I’m not a big fan of Cajun cuisine because much of it is centered around tomato based sauces, which I don’t like. I’m not sure if crawfish étouffée is considered Cajun or French, but it is a creamier soup than gumbo… It’s delicious. And Desporte’s is just amazing. I got it on a whim the first time, took it home, refrigerated it until dinner and heated it up… And ate the whole cup within 2 minutes!!! Some sort of voodoo magic happened in those 5 refrigerated hours. That rice just soaked up all of the crawfish and mushroom juices. It was just spectacular. I got it again a few days later and then a week later for one of my «neighbors» in Temporary Family Lodging at Keesler AFB. I hope I got him hooked too =) Barring any seafood allergies, you must MUST try the crawfish étouffée!!!
