Walkers American Grill & Tapas Bar

Great place the bartender was awesome! I had a couple beers that were good. The curry was awesome and probably not a big seller but it was phenomenal. They mainly have steaks and stuff like that but I saw it on the menu and it was only like $ 14.95 or something. I always like to ask my server what’s good and I can usually tell if they mean it if they say everything. The bartender said it was good when I ordered so I felt good about him being sincere. A little heat, which I love, and was really happy with the meal. Next time I’m in billings I’ll be back to try something else.

This place is very high quality. Ambience is great, and everything really is tops. However, I just didn’t dig the menu. Not as approachable as I’d like for my simple Montana palette. Very nice room, though.

My wife and I just went for a romantic night out this weekend. It was great as always. We’ve been here for anniversaries (three times, I think) and with groups also. It’s a lovely place, really interesting design without being too much or too kitschy.
The food is fantastic! We’ve never had even a mediocre dish there. The basics that are always on the menu, like Bourbon Street Linguine and the meatloaf, are great. However, we often go for the specials to see what the chefs are playing with.
Service is always attentive and seeking to please, and we have had a couple of servers who were just superlative, who really took waiting professionally. And yes, we did let managers know how special those experiences became.

Atmosphere amazing. Sat at the bar and started off with a Negroni. Perfectly balanced drink. Bartenders were friendly and professional. Had the soup of the day which was a spicy been soup which had great flavor. Main entrée I had a seafood and pasta dish which was very good. Ended with a carrot and parsnip cake dessert. Satisfying Friday night dinner.

After a week of elk hunting my wife and I stopped overnight at Billings. After reading the reviews we thought we would try Walkers American Grill and Tapas Bar.
We found the atmosphere to be absolutely wonderful, very relaxing and a bit eclectic. The place was busy and had a really nice energy about it. Not really wanting a full entrée we decided on getting the tapas portions. My wife had the bacon wrapped dates. They were so tasty we reordered. The bacon flavor combined with the softness and sweetness of the date, omg. This was diffidently our favorite. I had the pork belly lettuce cup. The were absolutely out of this world. The hoisin sauce combined with the lettuce and other ingredients made this dish absolutely awesome. Don’t go to walkers without trying both of these dishes. For desert u had the apple crisp. The flavor was out of this world. Thought the Granny Smith apples could have been cooked a tad longer but this didn’t give me enough to reason to knock them out of my 5 star rating. My wife had Smores Bread Pudding. Put it this way, it was so good she refused to let me have just one sample. It was not like your traditional bread pudding. The bread pudding had chocolate chips inside then sat atop chocolate sauce & topped with toasted marshmallow cream on top! Heavenly doesn’t even begin to describe this little plate of happiness!
The energy, the food and the ambience were all perfect and all this was complemented by our two waiters, Tyler and Ethan. Tyler was a veteran of ten years, Ethan on the other hand was also a veteran, but two days new to Walkers. If he hadn’t told me I would have never known. Both were among the best waiters we have ever had. My compliments to both of them. It may be worth your time to ask for their section upon being seated. Please don’t miss having your meal at Walkers, you will be glad you did, trust me.

3 Stars for Ambiance and food– Love the atmosphere, really nice, particularly for Billings where quiet, upscale, foodie joints are not the norm. We had the lentil stew (soup of the day) which was FANTASTIC. We split the Bourbon Street pasta with Andouille sausage, shrimp and chicken, delish, but spicy. We also had house salad, took one star away for this… just a bunch of greens, some walnuts and blue cheese crumbles (which I didn’t do because I don’t like blue cheese), no other veggies. Dressing was good, but wanted more than just greens and walnuts.
I also took one star away for service. The service wasn’t horrible, just super slow. We sat in the bar, the host stood behind his podium (occasionally looking at us) for a good 5 minutes before the waiter showed up– no water, silverware, etc, it took him a couple of minutes after he sat us (standing behind his podium the whole time) to bring us menus… weird. The server we had was OK, but the food delivery was super slow, was OK because I was with a good work friend, but we were both tired after traveling all day and didn’t want to spend 2 hours at dinner. All in all, not bad, would try again and will update this review if the next visit is better.

Short Version:
I like this place… always friendly service, really good entrées (some of the best meatloaf around), and locally made Whiskey. Haven’t had an appetizer or salad that I’d order again, but they still pull off a solid 4 stars.

The peppers were lightly salted, but not spicy at all. I guess I should’ve either asked or googled it before ordering

— A side Caesar Salad came with the Meatloaf. It wasn’t tossed right, so the dressing wasn’t evenly spread, and not all of the lettuce was fresh, so it was pretty disappointing

We ate at Walker’s after a day at a conference. There were many other choices things to eat in Billings, and we had a hard time choosing at first.
The bread they got a first was absolutely wonderful, and the salads to start very fresh and and well portioned.
I ordered the Meiko shark with soy butter sauce steamed rice and House made pepper slaw. It was absolutely wonderful and well priced for fresh seafood in Montana.
There is a better than fair chance we will go back to Walker’s for dinner tonight.

Excellent location, atmosphere and menu selections. We ate with a group of five men and everyone walked away pleased. The meat loaf and lamb were favorites.

Good, varied menu. Beer selection is great. Bar scene is lively. We enjoyed dinner here.

I saw this place leaving Jakes one night. I came here to check it out the next week. What can I say? There seemed to be some cute girls walking in and out. I wasn’t disappointed.
I sat down at the bar and was immediately served, a good sign! They gave me some bread to knosh on, killer salt crust to boot! I ordered the lettuce cups and sweet potato fries. They really need the pork belly as a dish in itself. I would sell your mother for a plate full of this pork belly. So. Good.
The short of it? Great food, ok beer selection, cute girls, not much more to ask for.

Are you looking for a mixed drink that is made just right, or a meal that hits all the high notes, then Walkers is a must. This is the place I go to when I want a unique and well crafted cocktail, a meal made just right every time, or just a great atmosphere all around. Typing this is making me hungry for Bacon wrapped dates and a nice cold Sazerac. I cant not mention their Knowledge of wine tops that of any local establishment. A must for any local or traveler!

Fantastic dinner and dessert. Our waiter was very entertaining and knowledgeable. There was hardly a wait. The restaurant very clean and had very cool designs for their lights. This is was my first time in billings, MT.

Yum! This place is a bit confusing though, we wanted just wine and tapas, the place looks very high end, like you have to order dinner. But we asked, and that was okay.
One star off because it was too hot in the restaurant. Turn on the AC in the summer!
We were served delicious bread and butter right off. The wine list is pretty good, and reasonably priced for glasses or bottles.
We had pork belly, bruschetta, and peppers. All were really good. I could eat that pork belly all day. It was rich and sinfully yummy! I wanted to lick the plate, but this place is too classy for that!
Too bad we had no room for dessert, it looked good!

My family of three just had tapas at Walkers and we all felt that it rated a WOW! The bacon wrapped dates were salty and sweet and just amazing. The pork belly lettuce wraps were melt-​in-​your-​mouth tender and flavorful. The meat and cheese tray had a great contrast of flavors and textures. The fried calamari was also tasty, but needed a little salt. Lastly, the hummus was delicious with a sweet tomato compote on top. Everything was great.
Our waiter Sam was sweet and enthusiastic. He was very knowledgable about the menu and dishes and gave us great advice. We ordered about 8 dishes between the three of us and left totally stuffed (my 14 year old son can pack it away!). I only wish I lived closer so we could come all the time. Those of you living in Billings are lucky to have such a great restaurant! Yum!

The good:
Ambiance is classy and jazzy. Not pompous as some of the higher end places can be. I appreciated the piano playing in the bar area separated by a semi wall and loved the painted barbed wire chandeliers.
The bad:
Brussels sprout side medley was charcoal burnt on the lamb dish. The lamb was requested as medium but was BARELY medium rare (some parts were inedible).
Redemption leading to 3 star recovery:
Under different circumstances cooking the lamb and veggies badly would not even get 3 stars but the food that was done well was superb. The hummus was delicious and I consider myself somewhat of a hummus expert. The mint beef satay salad was also done very nicely. The good food along with the impressive atmosphere definitely earned 3 stars despite the bad.

I was in Billings for business and I was not disappointed by Walker’s. One of my clients recommended it and it was great. Staff is super friendly and the scallops were crazy good.
The cannelloni with seafood inside and a lemon sauce was the best too.
If you’re in town, definitely stop in!

What the F David Blaine?!
This place is sorcery. I did not know food this good could have found its place in Montana. Atmosphere was a mix of modern style furniture with the classic look of prohibition type bars. Staff was very accommodating and friendly.
Now don’t even get me started on the food and drinks. I started with a Walkers Tea Tini and felt the same feeling I did the day America first gained its independence from the British. I moved along with some Blue Crab Tots and was at a loss of words. The Walkers punch and Seared Beef Soft Tacos left me wondering what the h3ll I was doing in Montana in the first place. I wrapped up my meal with the Milk Chocolate Bread Pudding and was almost brought to tears.
Don’t kid yourself, if you’re on Unilocal and you’ve read this entire review and are still trying to decide where to go for dinner, then you are crazy.

This hip spot is located just off of Broadway downtown. It has three parts to the food menu — small, medium and large. I stuck to small and had pickled brussel sprouts to start. Tangy and crunchy with good flavor. I combined that with a dark and stormy cocktail and watched the game while the host was kind enough to find a place to charge my mobile. I moved on to the hummus and pita with tomato compote which was a little sweet with the tomato but good none the less. I debated between a wine by the glass as the selection is nice but went back to the gingery goodness of my dark and stormy. If I had more room I was going to hit either the homemade chicken pâté or the popcorn sweetbreads. Next time.
Sunday is jazz night btw. Live music in the bar area.

Im in Billings for a week for work and i had a coworkers strongly recommend Walker’s. Wow, just wow. I was so happy with my meal tonight. I decided to sit at the bar and start with a glass of cabernet sauvignon. Delicious. The bartender was attentive and helpful. He offered me bread and butter to munch on which i rarely see when i sit at the bar in a restaurant
I decided to stick with small plates and the first thing i got was the carpaccio. It was heavenly. The meat melted in my mouth and the olive oil and salt complimented the rich taste of the meat. I tried to eat slow so i could savor every bite. The next thing i got was the pork belly lettuce cups. Again. Another good choice. The pork belly was fatty and buttery with a good amount of sauce. The pickled apples (i think thats what was on them?) were refreshing and went well with with the pork. I also love anything with crushed peanut on top.
I was getting pretty full at this point so i skipped right for dessert. I usually dont go for the chocolate lava cake esque desserts but i was really craving chocolate. I got the chocolate soufflé and it came out piping hot. The bartender told me to poke the top and let it cool down. After a few minutes it was perfect. The entire thing was moist and gooey. Usually the edges dry out but they cooked it perfectly.
Next time im in town i will definitely be back!
