beer was cold. food was hot. they met the standard that a restaurant should.
selection of beer was poor. maybe when craft beer started they were revolutionary but they were surpassed years ago. now they are generic at best. no variety. they stay at a generic ibu.
food was ok. again back to the 90s this was revolutionary. generic at best now. the menu reads as exciting then you get the food and taste is Marginal. they are resting on their laurels.
many other options in town.

Good food and a really fun atmosphere. Especially during the Holidays!

Had three hours to kill before heading back to Beervana… Oregon! Wanted to try local beers. After sitting at a bar table for ten minutes, no one offered to serve me while several employees cleaned a rather empty place. So I can’t review the beer or food because I left and went to a nearby micro spot where I was greeted with a smile as soon as I walked through the door.

This is a well established Brewer in Billings. Great menu to choose from, from hamburgers, flat breads, salads, and pizza. They brew some great brews

Great go to spot for a long time. Beer is spot on and very centrally located downtown. Plenty of things to do before and after this stop. I like to end my brewery tour at MBC due to them having top notch food.

First off, super friendly staff and may be the best I’ve had sometime. Got the sloppy joe special and it was good! Great drinks and beer to choose from. Highly recommend!

Montana Brewing Company (often referred to as simply the «brew pub» by the locals) is a personal favorite in downtown Billings. When I go back to visit family, we always stop in for lunch when they pick me up from the airport.
Located right in the middle of downtown, parking can be a challenge (not the restaurant’s fault of course) but once you find a spot, it’s in a prime location with all of downtown within walking distance. It’s in a really cool old Montana Power Company building with a big black awning so you really can’t miss it. They even have a sidewalk patio out front, which is great for people-​watching in the summer.
The brew pub is in fact a functioning brewery, so I highly recommend ordering some of their house made beers when you visit. They have quite the selection and I have yet to find one I didn’t care for. This last visit, I had the huckleberry wheat. Delicious! I love anything huckleberry, though.
Service is always friendly and the staff knows the menu well and can always recommend a beer or a meal. Personally, I like their pizzas and their mac and cheese. I had the buffalo mac and cheese most recently and was very pleased with my decision. They also have a great selection of soups, sandwiches, salads, etc.

Very fun place with great food and beer. We got a pretzel as an appetizer and the thing was huge, couldn’t even finish it with 3 people. I had their fish tacos. Being from San Diego I had a pretty high standards and to my surprise they met them. First time in Montana and this place is definitely somewhere I’d come back to in the future.

Seriously their IPAs on tap were 2.50
Their buffalo chicken wrap was great.
Their mac and cheese entrees were great.
The service was great.
If I lived in Montana this would be my go to.

The food was really good and the beer wasn’t bad, I liked the wheat beer. The price point is pretty average for the menu. The only thing I’d suggest is turn down the music a little… yikes our poor waitress could barely hear us over the speakers.

Stopped here on a roadtrip.

I was very impressed by this brewery/​restaurant. Prices were excellent. Food was well portioned and very tasty. Families welcome, atmosphere fun and inviting. Service excellent and staff attentive. Beer was great. Extensive menu.
I ordered the fish and chips and definitely was not disappointed. That’s often how I judge a brewery is by their fish and chips – you’ve got the beer, the rest just falls into place!
I had the porter and really enjoyed it. I can’t tell you any great tasting notes but can say it went wonderfully with the food and sometimes beer doesn’t have to blow you away if it compliments the food excellently. I had a taste of the stout and found it awesome as well. My friend is celiac and so therefore knew their gluten free menu which was nice – if it wasn’t a legit gluten problem if totally make fun of the gluten free menu but at least the place has embraced the craze.
The nachos looked awesome and will definitely get those next time!

I ordered the gigantic pretzel for $ 12.99 and a beer sampler which came with eight 4oz pours. Here is what I thought:

I’m glad I checked them out, but I wasn’t impressed.

Needed a place to eat while I was on the road, so I thought I’d stop by here. And it was perfectly adequate.
Don’t get me wrong — there’s nothing *bad* about the place — but there’s nothing special going on here. The food is your standard brewpub fare… the service was decent but not super awesome… and the price is reasonable.
Had the mac and cheese while I was here, and as Shania says, it didn’t impress me much. I was able to grab a seat on the patio, which was fine for people-​watching, but I felt forgotten about a couple of times.
Since I’m not from Billings, I can’t say «oh, (xx) place does it better», because I just don’t know. But as a visitor, I can say that it wasn’t anything to proverbially write home about. And that’s why it only gets an average rating.

I found my way here on accident. The bar is pretty comfortable. The brew selection is subpar. The brewing even more so. Wasn’t to stoked to be honest. Compounded by the fact that the younger guy behind the bar finger bangs ever rim on every glass he pours. Nasty. Like, painful to watch him pour beer.
I did eat the spinach salad which was pretty good. As was the service by anyone but young dude behind the bar.

In search of a Bison Burger for my son and my desire to try local brews we ended up here. We sat on the patio and it was a beautiful night. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive, she recommended the strawberry infused whitetail wheat… phenomenal. Left their slightly depressed knowing I can’t buy this brew anywhere. For an appetizer we tried the artichoke mushroom cheese dip… YUM! My son loved his Bison burger and sweet potato fries. Husband got a flatbread and even took the left overs… never happens! For my dinner I tried the Montana Dip. It is a roast beef sandwich and contrary to other reviews there was a rather large amount of roast beef on it. I actually took a little off. It was a fabulous dinner in Billings Montana!

This place had me sold once I saw a separate Mac n cheese menu! I had the Red Rooster mac n cheese, a spicy buffalo chicken style mac. Super good!
The brew are great too! $ 4 a beer made MBC a great value. I had the chocolate saison and the brown ale, both of which I would stock my own fridge with!

A good choice, the Montana Brewing Company, as our spot to watch the American women’s soccer team in their World Cup final against Japan. The four of us have had a good warm-​up, with a pair of taster flights and three selections from the appetizer menu — the Caesar salad (with four forks), a giant pretzel, and the artichoke. All of them were fun and flavorful and did not get in the way of the beer.
There are large flatscreen tv’s placed around the classic barroom, and the dining room stretches beyond for some distance, parallel with the brewing equipment on view in their own glass-​walled room.
The brewery is well located in the historic downtown area, encouraging its use as a base for short treks around town.

It’s one of your standard combination breweries and pubs with upscale food. This is one of the better ones. For drinks, I had the seasonal macchiato ale, which added coffee and vanilla to a lighter beer instead of the usual porter or stout. That was amazing and I don’t know why more places don’t do the same thing. The amber ale was solid as well.
As for food, I had the andouille mac ‘n’ cheese (Cajun?) with a side of the daily soup, broccoli cheddar. The cheddar notes were muted in both the soup and the mac, so it was not a particularly sharp variety of cheese, but the soup had chunks of fresh broccoli and the mac was loaded with sausage, so overall it was good.
I would offer the following if the ownership happens to read this: Right now, the mac is a midsize portion with a midsize price. It would be great if you offered appetizer portions (maybe half to ²⁄₃ the size) and dinner portions (maybe ⁴⁄₃ to ³⁄₂ the size), with different price points to suit. I think that would help people with a little interest try the mac and people like me make a meal out of it.
Dessert: Brownie was good, nothing overwhelmingly good, but good, and the ice cream was good.
Service: Excellent. Very attentive waitress, kept my needs met.
This is a strong 4 for me. I don’t think anything stands out enough for 5 stars, but I have no specific complaints (the mac ‘n’ cheese note isn’t a complaint, really). If someone told me they were staying in Billings, I’d recommend this place to them. But I would still want to try more places if I happen to come back.

I’ve been looking forward to this place since I arrived and not worth the trip.
If you do not like hoppy beer, then this is the place for u. Only one beer had 40 IBU-​SPY IPA and it had a bitter finish. Wait staff didn’t seem knowledgeable about the beer and the food was ordinary (I had the Southern mac & cheese with bacon & fried chicken. Fried chicken translated to cut up chicken strips.
Beer & food lovers skip this place and go to Uberbrew or Red Lodge Ales.
