Wonderful food, décor, service. It’s a local restaurant we frequent a lot. During our last 2 visits, our waiter has been Chris who is a gem – friendly, attentive, knowledgeable. Love this restaurant!

Never got a chance to eat here:(I called hours before to ask if we could shift our 5:30pm reservation for 2 by only 15 mins. Apparently that was out of the question. It wasn’t only the absolute response, it was the extremely negative attitude that caused me to cancel my reservation. Would never give my money to an establishment which treated me so poorly. Their loss. FYI, walked into the Barrel House in Beverly, sat at the bar and had a stellar $ 250 meal. Try there instead. I’m not from the area, but I’ve also heard Soma is yummy too.

I wish this could be a five. The décor is great, the layout perfect. But each time we visit the service borders on glacial and any request seems to be met with astonishment. I’ve been there before when the place is fairly quiet and we’ve waited 15 minute just to get a menu. and all the time the manager or owner is sitting at the bar in full view of the restaurant having a drink and watching… and doing nothing. If the ownership is new (as in last few months) I will happily change this review. thanks.

Management failed tonight! Place was way understaffed. Employees stepped up and did they’re best. If it’s like this on Friday, I wouldn’t want to go on weekday. Spent large blocks of time just sitting waiting. Other tables were doing the same. Can’t even talk about the food when service issues are this bad.

2^nd trip in since new ownership… always liked it before but LOVE it now!!! Beautifully updated… both big plates were awesome… son got mixed grill was really tasty and KBA beer was a delight. Went in again last night w GF.. The Thai fries and salad are worth another trip!!! I think I have a new favorite restaurant!!! :)

Well we arrived at 12:15 for bunch we we sat right away and was greeted by Lisa which was our waitress. Got our drinks which the bloody Mary, an Apple cider Sangria and a beer. Which was all good. But we have been waiting over an hour for our food. The waitress was nice and at 12:45 she was forth coming that the one guy in the kitchen was backed up. I totally get it. I have been a chef for 15 years and understand but the cook was not moving fast enough. They really needed someone else in the kitchen. The waitress was told to wait to put the order in by the cook because he couldn’t keep up. Well we ended up leaving without eating. We told them we had a show to get to. I felt bad for the waitress cause it wasn’t her fault. Make sure if u go have plenty of time if u go there. The manger came over and said we were only waiting for 29 min ago which the waitress spoke up and said I was told to wait. That made it even worse. I am VERY disappointed. now off to the theater extremely hungry

I’ve eaten here for lunch multiple times in 2015 with a group from work. Service has always been friendly for me and the food is way above what I would expect from a place in Beverly. I’ve had the burger, the salmon, the fish tacos; all were above average considering the reasonable price. It’s as if some of these reviewers are comparing a $ 14 meal at the Wild Horse to a $ 40 plate in downtown Boston. The fries are excellent, I always leave wanting more. Fried pickle appetizers were delicious, just writing this review makes me want to go back. Food has always come out quick (only been during lunch hours). I’ve been with a party of 6 all 3 visits and the food always came out together. That’s my 2 cents for what it’s worth to you. Cheers!

My friends and I arrived at 11 o’clock on a Thursday night, and the website said that they closed at midnight. As we walked in, the bartender informed us that she had already done her last call, as they hadn’t had anybody in for a while. There was, however, somebody seated at the bar with a drink. The bartender did not offered to serve us a drink, and essentially told us to leave. We will most certainly not be back.

I so want to like this place and so wish they would do something to bring them from mediocre to amazing.
We used to frequent this establishment at least once a week, but ever since the change in ownership a few years ago, it has never been the same.
We’ve sampled several of the entrees and appetizers, drinks alike and all bring out the same expression/​mood from us each time. «Meh, it was ok.» They have a tendency to overcook meat, and/​or incorrectly calculate cooking times so that one persons dish is ready and waiting for a long time while the other one is getting finished up.
There used to be a lot of heart and passion in the meals being delivered, but these days, we don’t find anything special about it anymore and almost always defer to Soma.
If they could nail the steak tip salad the same way Brendan Crocker used to, we would be visit on a weekly basis.

Just awful!!! Sticky table. Slow service. No top shelf liquor to choose from. Pathetic menu choices. We had to beg for bread. Started with the nachos… I made better nachos in college on a hot plate!!! (Look at all the dates on the reviews of this place. All the good ones are from five years ago). I ordered The only entrée on the menu that wasn’t covered in some unknown sauce, a medium rare cheese burger. The waitress brought me a 4 ounce burned hockey puck!!! The stale bun was easily double the size of my beef. «WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS PLACE»? I am a resident of Beverly, and cannot wait til this restaurant goes out of business. AGAIN!!! The barbershop next door should expand!!! I suggest getting a haircut instead of heartburn.

This restaurant has never impressed me but I went there for dinner because my husband and I were meeting friends there. This place still doesn’t impress me. It was so dark in the dining room we had to use our flashlights on our phones to see the menu. The andouille sausage flatbread, which was one of the specials, wasn’t very special, just ok. My flounder almandine was dry and overdone. The edges of the filet were tough and hard from being overlooked. I didn’t complain about it because we were with a group and they chose the restaurant, so I didn’t want to make an uncomfortable scene. But that is the last time I visit this establishment. It is overpriced and underwhelming.

I used to love this place. Went back after maybe 6 months and I don’t know what’s happened. The atmosphere is nice but the food, oh my.
We were hungry but not for a dinner just a bite to eat and it seems it was pork night. Taco with pork and pickles really grabbed me and made me say yuk, but that could be just personal taste. Pickles don’t go with tacos.
We opted for the artichoke dip and nachos (add guacamole and chicken and you have $ 22.00 nachos) The chicken was bland, cut into cubes and tossed around the edge of the plate. Chips were nice and light, guacamole was like the chicken cubes, no flavor. The artichoke/​spinach dip was pureed into something that could have been… well…there could have been anything in there because it looked to have been tossed into the blender. With all the restaurants in Beverly Wild Horse better step up their game.
Perhaps the main courses are wonderful so I have to give it 2 stars due to lack of knowledge.
On a positive note, our waitress was friendly and attentive without being pushy.

I want to love this place, but the food always disappoints. The menu looks good but for whatever reason – slopping cooking or poor ingredients – it’s just never very good, especially for the price.
However, the atmosphere is nice and the drink list and drinks are great. So it’s a good spot to meet up with friends if you’re not too hungry.

Went here for dinner with my girlfriend. Sat on the restaurant side very cool cozy atmosphere had some very comfortable lounge chairs at the tables for 2. Excellent bread for the table. Good & crusty. I got the 12 oz ribeye with giddy up sauce (spicy BBQ) not what I would normally do on a ribeye but very good actually. My girlfriend liked her herb rubbed chicken. We got the same sides which were smashed potatoes & broccoli Mac & cheese. The sides were very bland & I added a lot of salt & pepper. Had excellent blueberry mojitos as the drink of the day & the Martini’s are always great. Usually have a great craft beer selection on tap as well. My girlfriend had a Girl Scout cookie martini for desert & loved it.

Love the motif going on with the comfortable living room style chairs to eat on. And the «farm pork with duck glazed mushrooms and Maine mashed by hand potatoes was delicious. Their chocolate therapy cake is not like cake it is more like a delicate but rich river of chocolate flowing on your tongue. Best meal this side of state. Service was excellent. Clientele were nice also.

One of my favorite restaurants! The atmosphere is very warm and cozy, yet sophisticated. The chairs are like your very own living-​room chairs; very comfortable. The ambiance is nice and calming. The food is delicious! I get my favorite spinach and artichoke dip from here. This is a very nice restaurant that does not disappoint!

Multiple draught beers and pleasant surroundings but the food is mediocre and overpriced. I had Caesar salad with chicken and flatbread which had a chewy, packaged texture.

Tonight my boyfriend and I went to try the wild horse after I had a bad experience. Kelly who was a great hostess for us and the manager kindly bought our first round of drinks. Ken had the prime rib special and I got the Omaha ribeye steak with the sides of duck fat mushrooms, asparagus, pop over, big potato. Both were cooked correctly and perfect to our taste. We really enjoyed the atmosphere it was quiet but inviting. Highly recommend the crème brûlée more than enough for two. We will definitely come back again to get a great experience that we both enjoyed.

A Groupon led us here after seeing the restaurant featured on Phantom Gourmet and reading the Unilocal reviews. We didn’t notice the parking lot across from the restaurant until we circled the block and parked on the street.
We arrived right as they opened for dinner, were warmly greeted and immediately seated. The dining room is very quaint and has a country kitchen feel, very comfortable and decorated with unique tables and chairs.
Our server was lovely, very attentive but not overbearing. Our groupon included an appetizer and two entrees and we decided on the wedge salad based on our server’s recommendation as we are following a specific diet. The other appetizers did sound great though.
We asked for the dressing and Gorgonzola to be served on the side so it arrived with two generous hunks of iceberg lettuce, topped with two strips of bacon and chopped tomatoes. Enough to be shared by two. We were off to a good start.
Our server would have offered us bread but knew we were following a no-​grains diet. I decided on the sirloin with a side of roasted squash (butternut) and the hand cut fries. My hubby, the tenderloin skewers with grilled veggies (red and green peppers and onions) and roasted Brussel sprouts.
Meal presentation was appetizing; however, both dishes were rather disappointing. We both asked for our steaks to be cooked medium and the sirloin was medium in the middle but the ends were medium-​well to well done, tasty but not the most tender. Butternut squash was a bit undercooked for my taste and the fries (which were served in a metal cup) were luke warm to cold. Cold on the top and luke warm on the bottom. They would have been terrific had they been hot.
My hubby’s skewers were definitely more medium-​well to well done which made them rather tough. Brussel sprouts and grilled veggies were a little undercooked for his taste too.
Tab excluding tip (tap water for drinks) would have been $ 73. We’re glad we tried it but would rather spend $ 70+ elsewhere for a more satisfying meal.
Service & Atmosphere: Great! Steaks: Overcooked Veggies: Undercooked. Returning: probably not.

A four star atmosphere and a three star meal. The overall feel of dining at the Wild Horse Café is great. The seats are comfortable and the décor is spot on.
The experience was off to a great start when we received a bread basket with honey butter. The waitress swiftly brought is our drinks and our appetizer «Dip» which was a spinach and artichoke dip. The beginnings were delicious.
For the meals, my date and I ordered the baked haddock and the salmon. The fish was seasoned and cooked perfectly as were the vegetables. The mashed potatoes, however, were woefully under seasoned. Another drawback was the proportion of fish to sides. For $ 20+ the portion of the fish was very small in comparison the the mountain of mashed potatoes we both received.
Overall, a good experience. We both enjoyed our meals and the service was great.
