This review is about the approach I experienced with them, not about anything they actually did, because I didn’t hire them I called requesting help with snow and ice on roof, and got a high pressure, scare the sh– out of them sales pitch about how my house is going to rot from mold and ruin everything. But fear not, for $ 500 for the first visit and $ 95 per man per hour after that, they’d solve all my problems (and no doubt drain my bank account). No thanks. Who needs to have someone use scare tactics to get business, anyway? Not legitimate companies who do a good job for a fair price. It’s bad enoujgh to have to deal with all the worries of this horrible winter without someone piling on. If they’d just said they’d come out and deal with the ice and snow and further evaluate from there, I’d probably have hired them, but they destroyed my trust in anything they might have to say with the hyperbole. Take note, Coastal Windows!

Have you noticed Coastal has a lot of positive reviews that aren’t very specific and which, in some cases, are left prior to the work being completed? That’s because they’ve got a sales gimmick calculated to dupe people on social media. Here’s how it works, based on my personal experience with their sales pitch.
Coastal sales reps will offer some homeowners an allegedly substantial discount if the homeowners will agree to let their house be a «model home» for the company. In exchange for the alleged discount, which is available for a single day only (requiring an on-​the-​spot decision under high pressure – a big red flag that this is a scam), Coastal’s marketing team asks a few things of the homeowner.
One is to consent to have before/​after photos on their web site (okay). Another is to promise not to tell your neighbors they gave you any discount (meant to keep the scammy model home program a secret, and prevents you from checking if you were even given a discount or not). Finally, and this is crucial for those who check Unilocal and other online reviews, they require that the homeowner leave a positive review for them online. This undermines the online review system and actually violates FCC regulations about social media advertising: incentivized reviews are supposed to be disclosed.
Couple all of this with an extremely high-​pressure hard sell that follows a script (watch the sales guy tremble visibly if you ask him something that takes him completely off the script – it’s entertaining and also kind of sad), and Coastal appears to be a company to avoid. In our case, we had to cut the two-​hour sales pitch short, as it disrespected our time and our rights as a homeowner to collect competing quotes on such a substantial project. My advice: Stay away.

Coastal Windows & Gutters fixed what I had been concerned about regarding one of their former installers who did not do quality work that I paid for. When my concerns were raised, Stephanie and David treated me with total respect as a customer and dispatched 2 new installers to properly fix the problem. Mark and Bernie arrived on time on a Sunday and did excellent work. I am satisfied and recommend this company to anyone. I plan to use them in the future.

We were in a difficult situation with a leaky roof after prior year ice dams causing damage to roof and gutters. We contacted Coastal Windows and Exteriors and got rapid response and a solution to our problems. We have had bad experiences in the past with other companies but Coastal was amazing. Great communication, respect for our needs, and timely «as promised» service. Everyone was professional from the owners to the installers. The Installers were polite and very neat. Our neighbors were amazed at the efficiency and quality of the job. This was a big job on an old house with winter bearing down on us and everything went beyond expectations. We couldn’t be happier and plan to use Coastal Windows and Exteriors for our future projects.

At this point im over the great customer service and would’ve rathered a rude roofing company who did their job right the first time… its been a few months and ive noticed they missed a decent size piece of plywood on my roof which would be more of hassle to rip off the shingles and install it correctly now… looks like they cut a piece 2′ x 5′ short and just said o well, they cut my sewer stack vent by 8′ to slip on the vent flashing, little did they know it was at a certain height because it was near a window, if i didnt notice it and happened to be a plumber i would have sewer gas coming thru my living room, they didnt tar up my dormer moldings so when i go in my attic i see daylight, obviously not supposed to be especially when its windy and i can hear it and feel it blowing while all my windows are shut, ive called three times in the last 6 weeks and theye told me yeah well be there this week each time with no result, they broke a handful of electrical walkway lights and landscape trees and bushes, which they paid for… like i said great customer service which the owner will probably apologize for everything on this review… not to mention Coastal Windows subcontracts their roofing work out to another roofing company… like i said at this point im over it, dont be sold by their advertising videos, sales pitches, coupons and smiles… its the work that counts

My wife and I purchased a fixer-​upper in August. The roof was in need of replacement, the original siding is asbestos and the windows were not very efficient. We got estimates from multiple contractors and finally chose Coastal because of the quality of the materials and the warranty. The roof, windows, and siding all have a lifetime warranty — which is a huge benefit for us and our new home. The roof installers finished in a day and the roof looks amazing. We had vinyl siding installed with the new windows. The installer’s did a great job with the siding and the windows and everything looks great together. The installers were all great and the construction supervisors communicated well with us throughout the whole process. We are very happy with Coastal’s efficiency and professionalism and would recommend them for any window, siding, or roof work.

Coastal Windows replaced our gutters with leaf guard. The gutters are high quality but the amount of activity this year for gutters delayed installment about 6 weeks. The installation guy was very friendly and professional. The job was completed in two days. It was reported that there were blockages in our previous gutters-​we requested a call back as to the location of the blockages but haven’t heard back yet from anyone. Overall quality product with friendly but delayed service.

There’s a hidden review of one star for this place which is more inline with my experience. I got a cold call a while ago asking about replacing my windows, which I had done a couple years prior to their call. They suggested coming out and giving me an estimate on my roof, even though I wasn’t in the market for replacing it, but that I’d at least have an idea of what the cost would be. I agreed and they sent a guy out to come talk to me.
The guy was extremely high pressure and condescending. The roof was ridiculously overpriced. I told the guy to leave and shredded his business card. This was over a year ago. I still get calls from these people saying that guy is gone and that’s not how they do business, but I heard that line months before the hidden review was written here. I call BS.

I shopped 5 years for the right window company. The product is comparable to New Pro, Penguin… top of the line. The pricing however was less than half. Their Sales staff was persistent, yet professional, educated and not pushy. I dealt with Frank & Michael in Sales, then Don and Mark did the install. Also spoke with the owner Stephanie. Every person was professional, polite and affable. Hard to believe, when the other companies I had dealt with were pushy and rude. The windows are beautiful and I feel the difference inside the house already. One window frame was slightly damaged in shipping, and when I mentioned to installer, he informed me they had already ordered a replacement, before I had even mentioned it. That really impressed me and sealed the deal that I highly recommend Coastal for window replacement!
