Cala Renee Salon

I tried Cala Renee Salon yesterday for the first time and had an EXCELLENT experience! Brittany was my stylist and she did a wonderful job on my hair. I hadn’t had a hair cut in over 8 months (yikes!) and she didn’t make me feel bad or ashamed like many other stylists would have. The salon itself is inviting, clean and professional-​looking. They have this amazing downstairs area where they wash your hair in the most relaxing and soothing environment (there is gentle music, soft lighting, and the shampooing chairs recline!). The other stylists were very friendly as well and I felt very comfortable the entire visit. 100% recommend them and I will definitely be going back!

For over a year I loved this salon and the feeling of family among the ladies. It was totally worth the parking hassle! Sadly, when Erin left, they were all so weird about it that comfortable vibe went missing and I finally called it quits.
Update: I finally hunted Erin down through her other clients and that’s how I found out I that CRS ladies knew exactly where Erin went (see my other review) but lied about it to anyone asked — and that explains the weird vibe.
What it don’t like is being treated like money in their bank. It is so disrespectful the relationship any of us establish with that person who knows our hair –and sometimes us — as well as we do our self.

I can’t rave enough. The salon really is a curly hair heaven. I have been to other curly salon’s in the area and LOVE the balance at Cala Renee. What I mean is: the atmosphere is relaxed and yet peppy and the staff were experts but friendly and active listeners. They actually listened! Sarah asked questions and then discussed how best to cut my hair with me. Sarah is awesome! We discussed how I could keep my long length but still work on the needed shaping to overcome some prior mishaps with scissors. Then… the cut was exactly what we discussed; no «trim» that is 3 inches off or layers I didn’t anticipate. I left with my hair styled curly, how I would do it, AND loving it! No need to go home and wash and style it myself to see what it «really looked like»!

This salon specializes in curly hair, but don’t be discouraged if you have straight hair. My boyfriend and I were in town briefly and both needed hair cuts first thing the following morning. I was only able to book one appointment on their online booking option (very convenient and easy to use). When I called in the morning to see if there were any cancellations or other availability they didn’t have anything so we decided just my boyfriend would get a haircut. When we got their for his appointment the hairdresser Colleen worked quickly and did wonderful work! His cut was perfect, and she was so nice and accommodating she was able to squeeze me in before her next appointment. Everything about this salon was awesome and I will definitely be going back. Colleen was fantastic!

Absolutely amazing experience! I have very thick, frizzy, curly hair, and it is hard to find stylists who are able to color/​style my type of hair, but Sarah is amazing! She lifted my color to the blonde I was hoping for, and styled my hair to where I can honestly say, I loved my curls… and I’m one who always straitens!

This salon is fantastic! They took my daughter in last minute. She is 13 with long one-​length straight hair and didnt know what she wanted. She was thinking loose wavy hair. Well she walked out of the salon radiant looking like a super model :-). She had a waterfall braid with the entire back curled far surpassing what either of us expected.
The price was fair and we went back and she got another hairdo, this time all curls and she looked just as great. They also did an eyebrow wax.
We are definitely going back and I highly recommend them. As it turns out a friend of mine with very curly hair swears by Cala Renee too!

I put off making an appointment here for a long time for two main reasons. First, prices are not listed on their website (I hate that!) so I assumed it was super expensive. Then I found out that a curly haircut was $ 65 and this seemed like a lot to me, especially since I’m rarely very impressed with any haircut.
So, a year later, I finally decided to spring for a $ 65 haircut. Sarah did an AMAZING job cutting my hair! I was already using the Deva products so I figured there wasn’t much to learn there. But Sarah showed me the right way to use them and now they work SO much better! I actually love my curly hair for the first time ever. I NEVER thought I’d be able to say that. So $ 65 for a haircut like that? Now that seems like a steal. I’d happily pay double that.
I found out that a partial highlight was $ 85 which I think is very reasonable so I set up an appointment for that a few weeks later. Again, amazing job, exactly what I wanted. I told Sarah the issues I was having styling my hair at home and she showed me exactly what to do to solve them, and now I have no problem recreating lovely curls at home.
A few other random things about this salon. It’s street parking, which I usually hate but there were plenty of spots right in front of the salon and it’s only a quarter for an hour on the meter. Everyone there was super nice and friendly, which was extremely refreshing because I feel like there is usually at least one super stuck up stylist or receptionist at every salon. But not here! I felt very comfortable the whole time. Also, both times I’ve been in I haven’t had to wait at all, which is very nice. Overall, I can’t imagine any reason to ever go to a different salon again. They’re that good.

Finally! As a «Curly Girl»…a phrase I only learned after discovering this wonderful salon. I was beyond thrilled to say the least, that having curly hair does not mean a life of untamed, frizzy and product-​overload hair. I got the inside tip a few years back, wish I knew much sooner, that I’m not alone out there and there is actually method to the curly girl madness. I met Sarah @ Cala Renee about 2 yrs ago, and I knew instantly that we were a good match. Sarah had been trained to cut unruly curls and truly cared about her clients and their concerns/​goals. Long story short, I was introduced to great products, great styling tips (just embrace it) and most importantly, a staff that just GETS it. Curly hair or not, you will leave this salon feeling like a person, not a client, and smiling from the relaxed, yet fun experience.

Had our first experience with Cala Renee today. My husband (straight, fine hair) and myself (long, thick, and curly) both had cuts with Sarah, she is amazing! The salon is super cute, they make you feel right at home as soon as your arrive. This was my first haircut in almost two years, I had been deathly afraid to get a cut after years of bad experiences, but my split ends really needing tending to. Sarah took the time to discuss with both of us what we wanted, and she totally delivered. Neither of us have ever been happier with out haircuts and we’ll be going to see Sarah exclusively from now on. I highly recommend Cala Renee, regardless of your hair type :)

Another great cut and color– Sarah is great at communicating and encouraging me to figure out exactly what I want so she can give it to me.
She did a beautiful job on my daughters very long curly hair today as well.
AND…they do have a sink neatly tucked away upstairs for anyone who has trouble getting up and down. (which I don’t, but hey, I know people who do)
I am happy.

Another 5 starts for Cala! I was in last week and she gave me yet another great Deva cut and color — I’m trying to go through the long, tedious grow out process, so I needed my wavy hair shaped without losing length. Not only is the cut very flattering, but my hair is much more manageable, and so much easier to work with than it was previously. I also love watching all the stylists work on other clients, everyone always looks great when they leave the salon! Definitely worth the hour drive from NH!

Walking into Cala Renee Salon is like entering curly hair heaven.
Unfortunately, my hair dresser left town. Fortunately, I found Cala Renee Salon!
Cala listened patiently to my curly hair sob story (as if she hasn’t heard enough of them) and asked me what I wanted. She then not only cut my hair curl-​by-​curl but taught me how to condition, style, and care for my curls.
I left the salon and smiled the whole way home. Not only did my family and friends see a difference, but I felt a difference in my curly-​hair confidence. I sound dramatic, but if you’re a Curly Girl, you know exactly what I’m talking about. I’ve been proudly rocking’ my curls ever since!
I didn’t know that under this nest of frizz there was a head full of gorgeous curls … until I went to this salon.
Cala delivers. Cudos.

When I arrived I was told they could do the cut in the photo I provided, but then the stylist decided not to do it. Saying after the cut she did looked better on me without consulting me first. I was very disappointed. Will not return and will steer people to other curly salons. On a good note, they did get me hooked on DivaCurl products which I love.

I have curly hair and have been going to Erin for about 5 years now. Love it and love her… wouldn’t trust anyone else with my locks! I love the Deva dry cut but unfortunately do not like the Deva products… I’ve tried a bunch a few times and haven’t had great success. I use Ouidad (NY) and love it… wish they carried that line!

I visited Cala Renee a second time to have my hair highlighted and trimmed, and had another great experience. Erin gave my hair great depth and bounce. Fantastic professional hair coloring.

If you’re looking to get a Deva Cut in the Boston area for a reasonable price, this is the place to go! I’ve been getting my hair cut by Erin for about a year and it’s always a treat. This is the best my hair has ever looked, by far, and I can also go longer between cuts. If you sign up for their email list, you receive notification when they have sales on products or services. PS. You can pay by credit card but you can’t add a tip, so bring your checkbook or some cash to tip the awesome people who work there. :)

A friend recommended Cala Renee for a color and cut and I was not disappointed. I loved the interior and the people – everyone was nice and happy to be there.
Color looks great and the prices were really great.
I have to wake up and wash, dry and style to check out the cut, but from what I see I love it. I am happy to 5 star once i get more things done, but so far, get there!

I found this salon by doing a Unilocal search and it was perfect! I was having one of those days where you are unhappy with your hair and need to do something about it quickly. I called and they had availability! I love places that take walk-​ins!
I loved the personalized attention at this salon. I did not feel like I was being judged and my stylist sat down with me to get to know me first. I should mention that I had Erin, and she did a great job. She even told me after I left that if I was unhappy, she would do some maintenance on it.
Another reviewer mentioned it, but this place specializes in curley hair. I don’t have curly hair, so I can’t say anything about how well they deal with that type of hair. I do know that they did a terrific job with mine! I will definately go back.

Went again last weekend & it’s been a year since I cut my hair (yes the cut lasted that long — that’s how good they are!). treats & beverages were awesome, staff friendly & nice — not pretentious like other hair places.
Cala fit me right in last minute, gave me a cut & I was out with the best do ever! Love this place!

I went here on the recommendation of a friend and have kept coming back. The staff is very friendly, the place is bright and clean, and they offer you coffee or tea. They also seem very kid friendly. There were two little girls getting their hair done the last time I was there, and they were very relaxed with the staff.
Erin (the stylist I see), listened to my ramblings on what I wanted and was happy to work with the photo references I brought even when I was like, «I like the bangs, but more this way not that, ya know?» She totally got what I wanted.
I’m very pleased and can’t imagine not going there.
