Last Saturday, my boyfriend and I stopped in for karaoke and a couple of drinks. We don't drink alcohol, so we ordered diet sodas. The night was enjoyable. This past Saturday we returned for more karaoke and drinks. This time the bartender (same as last week, as she's apparently the only person staffing the bar area of the restaurant), confronts us and tell us, quite directly, "You stink!" Not a typo, she said "you stink", as in, you give off an offensive odor. She proceeded to explain that people complained last week that we smell. We responded, "What do you mean?" She explained that we stunk last week, and in fact, we stink currently and that she's going to have to ask us to leave. Needless to say, we didn't and don't stink. I can't believe I feel the need to type this....we showered last Saturday and this past Saturday, and we were wearing clean clothes. Clearly no further discussion was needed at this point. We picked up our things and walked out, she smiled. It seems she did not want to serve two people drinking soft drinks (although both nights the place had a handful of people, at most, so spacing was not an issue). She was rude, mean, and had no class. Did you ever wonder what happened to that bully in your Social Studies class from 5th grade? She's working at Anmol in Beverly, MA....will never go back there again, neither will our family and friends who live up the street in Beverly and in Danvers and Salem. Shame on you bully for not developing past the 5th grade! And, shame on you Anmol for not caring enough to teach your servers to respect your paying customers.

This is the best Indian place I’ve ever had! The chicken tikka masala is out of this world! I could it for every meal. The staff is polite and very attentive. I’ve never had a bad meal here. The parking can be tricky. There is only 3 spaces available in the side lot, but plenty of street parking.

We started off with vegetable pakoras and samosas-yum! Ordered chicken biryani and malai kofta, garlic nan, also. The chicken biryani came with a large portion of raita. I had a nice glass of Chardonnay and my husband had the masala tea which smelled delicious. The service was very fast and everything was quite good. This place also does quite a take out business. We will be back!

Amazing delicious Indian food. Fresh ingredients, large portions, plenty of food. My wife and I order take out from this place whenever we can. The food is spicy just enough, and will leave you asking for more and more.

Grandma and I have been regulars for lunch at Anmol for some years now. We usually go every few weeks, and sometimes more frequently. They have a really tasty lunch: pick your meat, pick your sauce, and choose how spicy hot you want it. They are all delicious. They have a good selection of naan. A nice touch is that it includes a rice pudding dessert. Service is very attentive, water is always being topped off. They also have a full menu. I have been there a few times for dinner and it is also excellent.

Terrific, tasty food. And the staff is very good about suggesting what to try if you are not familiar with Indian food or just want to try something new. To encourage you to try new, they’ll take back anything you just don’t like.

the physical place needs some work. plus there’s an old school doorbell that goes off everytime the front door opens. It drove me crazy — I can only imagine what the waitstaff thinks. Service wasn’t great. ordered a beer, was asked draft or bottled — said draft. was brought a bottle. When I said I asked for draft I was met with a blank stare. Food ordering was equally tough. first the menu is written in very small font. We ordered and had to point to everything on the menu since the waiter couldn’t understand us. He left and then came back to ask mild, medium or hot. however the items we ordered couldn’t be altered. Food came out quickly and was very good. Never got the opportunity to refill our drinks. Had the service been better, and the restaurant had a facelift within the last 25 years it would have gotten a 4. They do take out — so maybe that’s the option next time. but the take out menu is also hard to read.

Get them to make you some onion bahji, wowzers! We love it here. Got hooked on Indian food during our vacation to England and these guys do every bit as good as you’d get over there!

My husband has been chomping at the bit lately to go to an Indian restaurant. He wanted to go to one with a buffet but that particular one only offers it on Wednesday nights and it was a Friday, so he consulted Unilocal and the highest rated restaurant in our area was this one, so off we went. I have to tell you, I’ve never eaten Indian food before. I’ve heard they use a lot of spices, especially curry, so I was looking forward to a good meal. What I got was completely different from what I expected. The inside of the restaurant is kind of dark and gloomy and a bit outdated. We were ‘greeted’ or should I say stared at, by a host who definitely did not want to there. He mumbled something about having to wait then shuffled off to the back of the restaurant. After someone cleaned up a table, we were seated. I ordered a sweet lassi to drink, which is basically a yogurt smoothie. It tasted exactly like one of those drinkable yogurts you get in the supermarket, which I’m pretty sure it was. I ordered the Papri Chaat for an appetizer. It sounded good on the menu but it was really odd. Basically, it was bean dip, but instead of beans, they put in puffy cereal. Probably one of the weirdest things I ever eaten, that’s for sure. I’m not certain if I liked it or not. For an entrée, I had a Sada Dosa. It looked good, like a giant crêpe, but it was really bland. It tasted like stale bread. It came with coconut, and I put some chicken and rice along with some creamy tomato sauce from my husband’s and kids’ dishes. It helped, but it still wasn’t great. My entrée also came with a lentil soup. I’ve never had anything that tasted bland and overly spicy at the same time until then. At first, it tasted just like split pea soup, which I hate by the way. Then, five seconds later, the heat dial turned up to 11 and my eyes were watering and I began choking. I gave it to my husband to eat. He took one bite and said it sucked. I figured at least the rice would be good, but nope, it was way overdone and dry as a bone. My husband ordered the chicken tikka marsala, and my kids ordered the mixed grill and lamb curry. I tried a bit of their dishes and I thought they were pretty good, though the chicken from the mixed grill was very bland and dry. Daughter No. 1 really liked the lamb curry, though Daughter No. 2 was less than impressed and barely touched her food. My husband said his dish was okay but nothing to write home about. We decided to pass on dessert. Our waiter was nice, better than the host, at least, but he was a little slow, especially with the check. I’m really surprised at all the good reviews. Maybe we just came on a bad night, but we’ll probably go to a different Indian restaurant in the future.

Anmol serves delicious Indian Cuisine! I’ve had the pleasure of eating their lunch special a couple of times. The first time, I had their Bangan bartha, nicely flavored dish. The second time I tried their Lamb Korma, oh my! The curry sauce of the Korma was spicy and slightly acidic, my mouth is beginning to water from the memory. The lunch specials come with rice, pappadams, and rice pudding. The first time, I left the place stuffed. All the food I’ve ever had from there has been quite fresh, and well balanced. I wish there were a few more adventurous times, but overall, a fantastic place!

I’d never had Indian food before tonight, but I was feeling a little adventurous so my husband and I ordered in from here. The guy on the phone was super friendly and delivery came quickly, everything was still warm. My husband got the lamb curry, I got the chicken tikka masala, and we got a side of naan to share. SO good! I don’t really have a frame of reference on other Indian food but this was delicious and I don’t see any reason they deserve any less than 5 stars. Yum!

After years of living in Beverly and continuously ordering take out and occasional sit in I think Anmol has has a small place in my heart. The food is an old stand by favorite and we get many leftover lunches. The services is somewhat serious, and the deco is really dated but hilarious I guess. We have perfected our food order and they always seem to have a very consistent product. We are moving away from Beverly and will use Anmol as our next benchmark for Indian food.

Let me start by saying that we live in Beverly, so this is an easy go-to. Almost too easy, and for that reason we ventured ALLTHEWAY into Salem to try«Passage to India» a few months ago, to see if it was any better.(As much as I dread going into Salem and trying to find a place to park, we were feeling ambitious.) Passage to India was nothing special. It felt generic and cold on the inside. We were kind of kicking ourself for not just visiting Anmol in the first place. We won’t make that mistake again. I’m a pretty traditional Indian food eater… always some sort of a curry, usually ordering a Chicken Vindaloo(spicy!) and a chicken tikka masala(creamy heavenly deliciousness) and soak my naan in the sauce. I wish there was a little bit more sauce and that they had brought two containers of rice for our two entrees, but I guess thats just me being greedy and hungry. I also recommend ordering a side dish of the raita.(The cool yogurt-cucumber condiment/side dish.) I usually drizzle this all over my indian food and it provides a nice contrast.(I have no idea if this is the way real Indians use this side dish, but if it works for me and makes me happy, I will keep on doing it!). My fiancé is in love with the peshawara naan(coconut and nut filled overly sweet and rich naan). I usually opt for a garlic naan or just plan. The condiments and crackers at the beginning are EXTREMELY generous in portion size, and very flavorful. My favorites are the«red one» and the«green one». No clue what their real names are but they are damn good. The only problem with this place is that I leave feeling stuffed. That’s it. And it does have sort of a dive bar ambience, so I go there when I’m in the mood to pig out with no judgment. The bartender woman who waits on us is extremely friendly, hard-working and a hustler. Kudos to her for wiping up all the spilled sauces/rice crumbs, etc. before handing us the bill. That attention to detail does not go unnoticed.

I’ve been here several times with my husband and it never disappoints. I always get either a lamb or chicken curry and it’s absolute perfection. Beautiful flavors and great portions. The naan bread is always delicious and I’m partial to the vegetable samosas. I also get the Tandoori mixed grill often, which showcases great flavors of the tandoori grill with some tikka masala sauce on the side. This place is perfect for people that get to-go meals all the time if you’re constantly on the run. I’m never disappointed.

Very good Indian food north of Boston. I tried several main dishes and all were good or very good. The garlic naan was also very good.

Nice find in Beverly, where my cousin recently purchased a house. There was a block party in town and finding seating for a party of 5 in a restaurant seemed impossible, so we decided to walk a little further out. Anmol does not look like your typical Indian joint from the outside but rather a pub. We didn’t realize there were 2 entrances — one for the bar and the other for the dining area. I ordered the Veggie Samosas and the Lamb Biryani and they were excellent. The 2 samosas were crispy and loaded with potatoes, peas and curry. The spices were very aromatic in my biryani dish and the curries all around. The lamb that arrived was abundant and cut in large pieces. Service is attentive and the servers are kind. There’s light music playing in the background that soothes the meal experience. The complimentary chips and chutneys were fresh and the mukhwa cleansed our palettes nicely. Can’t wait to be back!

I ordered a paneer makhani with naan and it as delicious! I also tried their mango lassi, which I could not put down. Just the right amount of sweet ness, and consistency. Definitely recommend people to try it.

Best Indian food I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot. Drove over from Salem with a group of 4 on a Saturday night. The only slight ding on the whole night was that the service was a little bit slow and strange at first. Might have been a language barrier; I don’t know for sure, because the guy who set the table and eventually sat us never did more than grunt and point. But the atmosphere more than made up for that. How many Indian restaurants have a full bar? I don’t mean a shelf with a bunch of liquor on it, or a bar off to one side of the dining room like an afterthought. This place has an actual BAR — a whole separate full-size barroom. They even had karaōke going on. Awesome. We ordered: — Samosas — Garlic naan — cheese naan — mattar paneer — paneer tikka masala — saag paneer — chana masala Everything was perfect. Even the papadam and chutney. It was a great experience for our two vegetarian friends who were pretty new to Indian food. Check was only around $ 100 for a gigantic meal for four, with leftovers. Well worth the drive from Salem. It might even be worth the drive from Boston.

Located in the heart of Beverly on the corner of Rantoul St and Federal, Anmol serves up some of the best Indian cuisine that you will find North of Boston. Anmol does just about everything right. Some of my favorites are the lamb saag and chicken tikka masala. Hard to beat their garlic naan

I’m really happy with Anmol. I always order chicken korma and I’m never disappointed. The curry is on the thick side, which I love. The chicken pieces are big and moist. It is super flavorful and very filling. I also love the nan– any flavor– you can’t go wrong. The service is quick and cheerful. I have only done take out though. The restaurant itself is a bit dark and not very lively.

I’ve eaten here a number of times since a friend used to live just down the street, however it has been a little over a year since I last visited. When another friend decided to have Indian for her birthday dinner, I suggested this restaurant because I’ve always been nothing but impressed with the service and food. Unfortunately, that was not the case last night. We had a group of almost 20 people, and while I understand that handling a large group will not always go smoothly, there is absolutely no excuse for how poorly it was handled. The majority of the group was seated between 7:30 — 7:45, there was no real rhyme or reason to the way the orders were taken or when they were taken for that matter. Around 8:15 the gentleman asked if people would like appetizers, the person at the first seat ordered and he left, not taking orders from anyone else at the table, and did not return until hers was ready. Even at this point, people had to ask him to take their order, he was just going to drop it down and leave. Water was not refilled and no one returned, so one of our dining companions went and got the pitcher from the hostess stand next to the women’s restroom and filled glasses at the table, which earned her dirty looks. Unfortunately that still didn’t prompt them to be more attentive. We finally were able to order dinner, though one order came significantly after everyone else received theirs, one was completely forgotten and had to be requested specifically by going to the register, because again, no one ever. came. back. Getting the check ended up being a joke as well — even though a some people had requested separate checks and was told this was not a problem, we received one check for the entire party. We were able to get that split up by taking it directly to the register, since again, no one ever came back to our table without someone going and asking for assistance, other than to pick up dirty dishes. I’m honestly disappointed that I recommended this place for a friend’s birthday, the whole experience was absolutely lacking. By the time all was said and done we had been there for over 3.5 hours, most of which was spent waiting for someone, anyone, to pay attention to us and provide the type of service for which I know they are capable.
