The Center was started in 2009 when the founder, Dr. Reef Karim, decided to start a medically sophisticated outpatient treatment center focusing on personal growth and development.

Dr. Reef Karim is a board certified psychiatrist, board certified addiction medicine specialist and a behavioral expert. He is a senior attending physician and an Assistant Clinical Professor at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience as well as a published research scientist in the fields of behavioral & chemical addictions with articles in the International Journal of Neuroscience, Journal of Addiction Medicine and other prestigious journals.

Dr. Reef has been a consultant at many well known rehab facilities, medical centers and healing centers and he founded The Control Center based on an integrated model of lifestyle medicine where the focus is on team based healing of the brain and body.
