Specialties
This is no ordinary Tavern.
Our most casual restaurant, located on Southfield Road and 13 Mile Road in Beverly Hills, serves tavern-style favorites with a homestyle flair. Family dining was never more dependably delicious.
The Tavern’s Stockyard’s Angus Burgers are the best in town! Chef John Arnold will amaze you with incredibly juicy ribs, internationally inspired specials and delectable desserts. He also offers a Healthy & Healing Menu, high on flavor and low on calories. The Tavern’s regulars can always depend on generous specialty salads and hearty sandwiches.
General Manager Julia Ervin treats each and every one of her patrons personally, as does the whole cheerful, friendly staff. Giant Flat Screen TVs broadcast all your favorite sporting events and the Tavern always features 6 great beers on tap.
History
Established in 1980.
The Matt Prentice Restaurant Group began in 1980 with a dream and a deli. Twenty-year-old Matthew Prentice took over a shuttered sandwich shop in Oak Park, MI, tossed his last $ 200 into the till and opened the very first Deli Unique serving entrees like Beef Wellington and flaming duck at deli prices.
From that humble, yet tasty, beginning, MPRG has grown into metro Detroit’s most successful and imaginative restaurant group.
Meet the Business Owner
Matt P.
Business Owner
At 20, Matthew Prentice left the Culinary Institute of America in New York before graduating. His dreams of becoming a great chef were beginning to fade. Diminishing funds and family health problems required Prentice to return home to Royal Oak, Michigan, and go to work.
When a floundering local delicatessen closed its doors, Prentice scraped together enough investment money to buy the deli in 1980 and a legacy of entrepreneurship was born.
Today, Prentice is one of Michigan’s leading restaurateurs and one of the states largest caterers.
His Matt Prentice Restaurant Group owns and operates nine successful eateries, an 11,000 square foot baking facility and five banquet facilities able to serve up to 3000 people. The company also caters peerless events at any location for up to 10,000 guests.
Matt Prentice concentrates his efforts on guiding the corporation’s growth and maintaining the highest quality food and service at each MPRG endeavor.
