MAVEN Beverly Hills

Literally the worst coloring experience. I have seen Lindsay at Maven 8 times and every time there is an issue but I wanted to give her benefit of the doubt of us getting to know eachother and what I like. The first 4 times I went in there she had to re-​do the coloring because it was off but then we got to a point where things were stable for 3 coloring sessions. Though during two of those sessions she managed to ruin two of my shirts because she didn’t seal off the neck right and color got all over my shirt.
But, I still went back, after today, I will never go back. I went in and asked for roots, highlight around my face and gloss (which she has done before several times and by now should know exactly what to do). But she royally messed it up.
She did something with the highlight where it came out looking like I had taken a bag of kool aid in my hair. It was absolutely terrible and she laughed and said ‘oh, well that is different’.
I asked her to fix it. So then after sitting there another hour and she was ‘fixing’ my hair, I get back in the chair and my hair looks like complete shit. It has strips down the back of red which doesn’t make any sense, all she had to do was color it but clearly she didn’t do it correctly and the highlights in front has bright red at the base of the head and then fade to a blonde. It’s absolutely terrible.
I don’t know what is going on with Lindsay but she cannot stay consistent and seems to have no idea what she’s doing
To update to what Meredith posted below: the pictures below are Lindsay attempt at ‘fixing’ my hair. She was given proper opportunity. That’s like going in to get your car painted and then you go to pick it up and it’s the wrong color and they say ‘oh well give us more time to fix it’ so you do and then they mess it up again. That’s exactly what happened. She’s screwed up once royally and then was given opportunity to fix it and she screwed up again. Additionally at the beginning, I was told it would be an hour and a half for my hair. Finally after two hours I had had enough. It would behoove the salon to get their facts straight.

I have incredibly difficult hair to deal with… at least thats what i thought until Lindsay got her hands on my thick frizzy curly head of hair. She has been my stylist for years now. The stylists at MAVEN are all so supportive of each other and encouraging of their clients to take chances and trust. I’m an Actor and I trusted Lindsay enough to basically shave my head two years ago and since she has been helping me create a unique style all my own. I like to be a little audacious with my hair. Lindsay listens and will do just about anything I ask of her! The MAVEN crew is classy, fun and cool as shit. I will never go anywhere else. I also want to add that every time I go in, I am greeted by name, with warm smiles. Lindsay also remembers my preference in product and shampoo. class act.

I absolutely love Maven! Being a natural brunette my entire life, I’ve always been terrified to color it but was desperate for a change beyond a cut.

I absolutely love Maven and Gretchen! I’ve followed Gretchen around Beverly Hills for years now and Maven is the best location! Gretchen makes my hair look flawless! She does balayage style blonde and incorporates a lot of my natural color to keep it super healthy, blonde and beautiful! After getting on a regular schedule with her, she’s helped me grow my hair out several inches and my blonde is flawless!!! I get tons of compliments on it, especially when she added a fun temporary blue to the mix for Coachella! Gretchen is an absolute pro at what she does and I always trust her with my color, even when I want to go darker or platinum, she has been able to take it there and make it look beautiful and effortless! She is so skilled at balayage that i can even go longer than I should in between coloring because the highlights are woven into my hair so naturally. I love my hair and Gretchen has gotten my color to the perfect blonde with easy maintenance and healthy ends, yay!!! Thanks Gretchen!!!

I can not tell you how happy I was to find Maven! I’ve never had a salon so excited to give me what they called, a «Maven Moment!»
I had an appointment with Gretchen and it was seriously the best experience. She took the time to listen to what I wanted and my concerns that I’ve had at other salons. When it was all finished, I couldn’t believe my hair. I’ve never received so many compliments or felt so confident. Not to mention, Gretchen offered me a discount for being a new client! I have found my home and cannot wait for my next Maven moment!!!

I’ve never had my hair cut here (my barber knows where I live), but I do know the owner Danai and she is five stars as are her styling skills. Check her out, you’ll be glad you did!

Where do I begin?! Honestly, I should have reviewed Maven a while ago because I have been there several times to get my hair done. Gretchen is my absolute go to for my color and now I am a balayage convert! She always knows how to take care of my blonde (which I’m picky and if you’re blonde also, you get what I’m saying). I’ve been going to her for years. However, this appointment I needed a trim and was recommended to Lindsey for my cut/​style. She was super sweet and gave me exactly what I needed to have my hair look healthy. I am always able to get an appointment, sometimes even last minute (thank you ladies!). The atmosphere here is wonderful and the décor is really pretty.
I would definitely recommend Gretchen, Lindsey, and Maven Beverly Hills to any of my friends in need of hair therapy. Thank you Maven!

Where do I begin? Let’s keep it short and sweet — — before I found Maven (Meredith) I had a terrible experience at another salon. My hair was cut badly and way too short, and dyed in a way I have never seen before (uneven and all different tones, didnt really make sense). I looked through over 10 salons reviews, websites and galleries and was still iffy… then I saw Meredith’s Instagram and I was blown away! She GETS it. Not only her beautiful style and talent with color and cuts but her attitude really drew me to go with her, even before meeting her. I am so happy that professional talented women like Meredith & Lindsay (very sweet) are behind the chair somewhere! Im excited to come back after my first Maven Moment… she works quickly, is so positive and even though LA traffic made me a lot later than I should have been — she took me and did a beautiful job. Very first time came Beverly Hills salon blow hair since my Korean stylist day off. The owner Dana very friendly also creative, wave without any appliance. 這下髮型不會和韓國女生撞了。

I had a major makeover and I love my hair! Meredith is extremely talented stylist. I ask her to make me look amazing and that is what she did. Her style is modern and chic. She is super friendly and sweet too. You feel like you are spending time with a good girlfriend. I highly recommend her and her salon.

Gretchen is amazing!!! I got my hair done about 3 weeks ago but wanted to wait till after my wedding to review. I wanted to know the right time to get color before my wedding and Gretchen suggested the perfect time!!! It looked awesome!!! She also artistically made the highlights look flawless! I surf anyway so people at the wedding thought I had been out to surf lately and kept commenting on how awesome my hair looked!!! I’m sooooo happy I will follow her wherever I go! Best friend recommendation to use Gretchen ever, and even though I’m not your friend, whoever is readying this trust me, Gretchen can be trusted! XO so happy!

At Maven you will find the top talent in an atmosphere that doesn’t tolerate pretense or bs, just excellent cuts and color. Danai has been cutting my hair for some years now and I have never been so excited to see her. She always thinks about what she is doing, and constantly adapts the style to fit my exact mood and idea. At this point we barely need to communicate verbally, because she gets me so deeply.

This place is as good as it gets for a hair salon. The ladies really did a fantastic job putting this place together. As a man, I am not typically one who thinks of himself as a Beverly Hills hair salon sort of guy. That said, I really enjoy going to Maven. Apart from leaving with a great haircut from Meredith every time, my experience there is always an enjoyable time. This is also the only place I know in LA that carries Original Mineral (O&M) products. Parking is easy, staff is friendly, and having a haircut that stands up for the entire month between appointments, highly recommended.

Danai is the top stylist here… she is a co-​owner with Meredith, whom I hear is great as well, but I have to say Danai is pretty much the only person who has touched my hair in 10 yrs+. She is flexible, takes direction & input well and has nothing but the best training and professional judgement that leaves you feeling like you are in capable hands… even if you aren’t sure the direction you want your hair to take yourself, she will get you there.
My last adventure, I went from dark brunette to ombré (blonde) for the summer. She did a color correction on me and the color & blowout was perfect. It lasted without fading much, but it’s time for fall now, so I’ve just gone back and had her do a non-​traditional color. You can see my purple ombré in the pic I just uploaded… the before & after are crazy. I LOVE IT!!! I had never done a wild color on my hair before but it’s crazy how good it makes you feel to explore with these !! I wasn’t sure the hue I wanted, but I brought a pinterest board and Danai was able to pick something that matched the best shade from all my choices. So far the color still looks insane, I get compliments from complete strangers everytime I go out … gosh I am going to have a big head soon from this purple hair.
I’ll post an update of my purple to red plan for fall and the results.
Oh, one more thing — Maven does email confirm appointments with you, which is a really nice service that I haven’t seen other salons do in the past. Very professional.
