Hansen’s Cakes

I absolutely love Hansens. Their cakes are always beautiful and delicious. I am so happy that they are making cupcakes so I don’t have to wait for an occasion to to have it! On top of it, the cupcakes are so reasonably priced. Cheaper than any other bakery or Gelsons — and so much better! My mouth waters thinking of them. YUM!!!

Planning a corporate event this is one of the venue’s preferred bakers.
Some others on the list never took my call or called back which, I am glad since Hansen’s is the Best!
Serena helped me select cakes and decorations for my cupcake selections.
They offer corporate logos made of bakery confections to place on each cupcake too!
The cupcakes are moist and delicious! Great presentation!

I love Hansen’s cakes and have been ordering them for many years. I like the customer service at this location and have always found them to be very polite and efficient.
A word about Hansen’s cakes. if you like Sweet Lady Jane or that ilk of cake, this is not the place for you. Remember old school wedding cakes? The cake here is dense and the frosting is sweet… so sweet your teeth may vibrate. Both my daughter and I always ask for a Hansen’s cake on our birthday… my husband, on the other hand, doesn’t care for them. So it’s really just a matter of taste. Stop by and ask for a sample and you’ll know immediately.
One more thing! Their cakes freeze really well. We kept a few slices of our wedding cake in the freezer (properly wrapped in double foil) and a year late it was fantastic. I plan on storing a cake in the freezer and eating it when Armageddon comes. If I’m going to die, I’m going to go out eating a Hansen’s cake.

Ordered a tiered wedding cake for an engagement. It came with the wrong flavors, then collapsed on arrival at the venue. Delayed the party due to them trying to repair the cake. Flavors were not the ones we ordered. Name of the groom was not spelled correctly. A total mess on behalf of Hansen’s. They also arrived two hours late to the venue. Refused to refund any amount of the cost of the cake. Totally unprofessional and uncooperative employees.
This place should be closed down! Don’t go there or you may be sorry like we were!

Ordered my baby’s baptism cake from here and wish I had gone with a different bakery, it wasn’t a great cake. I had heard good things about hansens from friends so I was willing to overlook the lackluster Unilocal reviews and try it out anyway. Bad choice, Unilocal is right.
I ordered it on the phone and described what I wanted — and the fact that this was for a baby GIRL baptism
I also asked if they had FRESH fruit fillings — and was told they had strawberry fruit filling
The cake itself is good (moist, yummy) but the buttercream is that sickening sweet crunchy icing that makes your teeth hurt and the filling was a gross pink artificially flavored and colored mess. I think it was strawberry jello mixed into cream filling to try to make strawberry filling. The decorations were BLUE — for my baby girl.
Pros? It wasn’t expensive (about $ 80 I think?) and was huge, and it was mostly edible
Cons? It was only mostly edible and BLUE

If you are looking for a bakery that is quick, simple and makes delicious cakes & cupcakes in Beverly Hills, look no further! Their vanilla cake is addictive and moderately priced by BH standards. Each cupcake is $ 1, which is a steal in the area. The two women who take orders are kind and helpful. One of them actually helped make my cake design go from mediocre to extremely cool — all my friends loved how beautiful the cake design turned out. She also helped me stay within my budget, which I appreciated. I’m not sure why some people have given Hansen’s a low rating (just read some before posting my review), but perhaps they were expecting something extremely high end just because of its location. It’s a great place, with great cakes. I keep coming back because the cakes are delicious, designs are unique, and the price is right for me.

I had white cake with lemon chocolate cake with raspberry red velvet with cream cheese for my wedding it was fantastic super yummy !!!

The location closes at 5 and not 6!!! I ordered my 19^th birthday cake from here! I got a «standard floral cake» with pink roses. I got my «happy birthday» written in pink on a heart plaque. I ordered a marble cake with chocolate filling and chocolate chips. I got a cake for 20 people for only $ 30! Talk about a steal!
I only ordered my cake 2 days before my party and picked it up at the Beverly Hills location since it was a small cake. They told me the large cakes have to be picked up at the fairfax location. I’m glad I had a small cake I could carry myself because this location doesn’t do carry outs!
Love this place and will be back for those $ 1 cupcakes!

I have used Hansens for over 40 years but I may never use them again. They gave me the wrong cake for my daughters 8^th birthday party! I had to serve cake to the kids, but my daughter was very disappointed … it was the wrong flavor and didn’t say her name. When I called to complain, hansens insisted that since I served the cake, they didn’t do anything wrong. In fact they started yelling at me that I messed up the other person’s order! And then they hung up on me! For years, the customer service has been bad, but I’ve overlooked it because the cake is yummy. BUT, never again. Not only did they ruin the party for my daughter (she was looking forward to this particular cake all year) but they ruined the experience for me too. To date, they have done nothing to apologize, refund the money I paid for my cake (which I did not receive) nor try to send me the correct cake.

I LOVE LOVE LOVED my cake from here. It was so yummy! The gals in the showroom were so helpful. And they have cupcakes for $.50−1.00. I will be getting all of my future cakes from here.

I remember when Hansen’s Cakes was the place to get cakes. Unfortunately it has gone downhill since then. We ordered a specific cake for my mother’s birthday. When my mom’s friend went to go pick it up, it was the wrong cake, even though the receipt had the specific cake listed on it. The staff advised her that they couldn’t do anything because they dropped a wedding cake and had to re-​do it (seriously). So she took it anyway. When she asked for help carrying the cake to the car (since there is no designated parking and the nearest lot is a block away), she was rebuffed and told «we don’t do that.» The cake was not only heavy but in a triangular box — not the easiest thing for anyone to carry. My mom’s friend had just had surgery and she had no idea how she would get the heavy cake to her car and asked a stranger walking outside to help her (he was kind enough to do that), Apparently they only hire RUDE, UNCARING and STUPID employees, who enjoy ruining people’s birthdays. There are so many other better bakeries in the Westside– go anywhere but Hansen’s!!!

I went with the Beverly Hills location as it was closer to my wedding venue. I love how flexible they were with scheduling, tasting, my crazy aversion to phones and how reliable they were with email communications. They followed up every step of the way! They were very accommodating
Hansen’s was able to help us arrange a delivery to the venue on time. Our cupcakes — chocolate with vanilla icing and a strawberry icing (yum) — were a big hit with our guests and made for some awesome after wedding treats.
I’ll definitely go back!

I never write reviews but I seriously couldn’t be more disappointed in a longstanding establishment’s customer service. I felt like I was battling them to give them the sale. We visited the Fairfax location and then Beverly Hills — trying to find better service and honest pricing — and at both places we were greeted by unfriendly workers who constantly were changing the pricing on us for a very simple wedding cake. I honestly don’t know how any customer has successfully been able to order a cake at Hansens.

They could have had a sale from us but we felt the customer service and presentation left a lot to be desired. The woman on staff while not rude was indifferent. We asked about 3D cakes and she said «yeah, we can do them but they’re expensive». The book they had with examples had some examples of nice looking cakes (the «ice bucket» cake is pretty stunning”) but many that looked very dated with very old pictures (some recent, some that looked 20 years old or more — It just wasn’t very professional or high end looking).
We asked for a business card and said she didn’t have one but then did get one from the worker at the next desk. The problem was there was a genuine lack of professionalism and customer care salesmanship at our time at the store. She casually told us she didn’t have a card. Why not say something like «I’m so sorry, I don’t have a card, let me get the info for you guys». Just basic stuff. This is the way I try and treat customers and clients in my job and the way I have at past retail jobs.
It seems that they’re resting on the laurels of their past highs and current high profile clients. We were unimpressed and be making our sale for an «expensive» 3D cake elsewhere.
Also, the cakes in the window seem ancient and almost dusty. Cake making has come a very long way in the last ten years. That isn’t wholly evident by their window display.

I thought this would be the place I would find my dream wedding cake but unfortunately visiting this location changed my mind about hansens period the minute I walked in the vibe these two women had was horrible and they are suppose to be in customer service they were bothered to even assist me in cake testing I was not greeted they came put the samples down and walked away I felt so uncomfortable to even taste the cake it ruined my whole experience to buy my first wedding cake I had to keep asking what kind of designs they do it was like pulling teeth to get information do they want to sell cakes they lost my buisness forever

The designs are always awesome and beautiful. The cake used to be moister and better tasting, but recently the flavor has gone downhill.

I think that there cakes are really good, but not worth the money they charge for them. I think they’ve let the «fame» of people like the Kardashians and Tori Spellings (LOL) who all use their cakes, go to their head. A half sheet cake was over $ 200? It’s good, but it’s not worth that kind of money. Maybe they’re trying to be exclusive and don’t want all the regular old Joe Schmos coming in and enjoying their pricey, high class cakes!
Their customer service was okay, but they weren’t very friendly when we walked in and it felt like we were bothering them with our cake order. If you do end up ordering a cake, try the marble cake with mocha filling and chocolate chips! Or their carrot cake, it’s pretty good. Not overly sweet.

I had heard so many great things about this place but boy was I disappointed. I’m not sure if this isn’t the one to buy cupcakes but they were the most dry cupcakes I’ve ever had. Not only that but when we walked in the girl was extremely awkward and rushed us.

My reception venue, The Los Angeles Athletic Club, has a contract with Hansen’s Cakes well as another bakery. When you book with the club, your wedding cake is included! All we had to do was pick a bakery.
At Hansen’s, we were able to walk right in and let them know we’re here for a cake tasting. They seated us right away and brought our their samples. Just about every flavor was effing rich and tasty. YUM!
The only reason we did not go with Hansen’s for our wedding cake was because we were going to serve ice cream a la mode. Hansen’s cakes shine on their own and serving ice cream would be a sweets overload for our guests. If it weren’t for the ice cream, we would’ve definitely chosen Hansen’s to make our wedding cake!
