Christopher John, DC

I’ve been going to Dr John for many years and I have to say that he is by far the best and most efficient chiropractor that I have ever seen. The top proponent of his directional nonforce technique, he helps your back heal much faster than anybody else, I have ever seen. He is caring and listens to his patients. The way his technique works is that he performs tests on the body using the feet which he puts in leather shoes. I don’t know why the reviewer, Karen, below imagined they were metal. I’ve never seen metal shoes in any of the exam rooms and I’ve been in both of them. As for pain, mostly there is none when he does the adjustments which are for the most part small and gentle. Some of the thrusts on herniated and bulging discs hurt sometimes for a couple of days while it is healing, but after you feel so much better.
I would recommend Dr. John to anyone. He is the best at what he does.

This was the worst treatment of my life. I will never go to see this chiropractor again. His so called Directional Nonforce technique is very painful and not gentle at all. He aggravated my TMJ pain and the put my lower back in so much pain that I could barely walk when I left his office. I did not ask him to work on my lumbar spine or my sacrum or my coxcys and he did and put all of these areas in severe pain with his so called non force technique. Plus the metal boots he put on my feet put my feet in pain as well. AS far as I am concerned he does not listen to his patients and says his tests will tell me what my body needs. Baloney! He is just as narrow-​minded as medical doctors who do not listen to their patients and who do not think outside the box. All I wanted was my upper back and adjusted in a non «cracking or torque fashion» Well his technique is just as bad as a DC who cracks your back.

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. John. Dr. John truly cares about the well-​being of his patients. Due to some severe inner ear problems, I started to develop TMJ. With one treatment with Dr. John, my pain completely went away and I have not any jaw pains since. The method his uses, Directional Nonforce Technique, is revolutionary. Quite frankly, I am surprised there aren’t more chiropractors using this technique in their practices.

Very rude and condescending receptionist. I called to reschedule my appointment because of illness and she had the audacity to say «If you really are sick then we understand. If it is serious you should of course stay home but if it is not serious you should come in.» She then proceeded to inform me that she would pre-​charge me for a reschedule. Curiously she seemed taken aback when I said I would just cancel for now, and she promptly hung up on me. This is not the kind of service that inspires customer loyalty, and I hope it is not representative of the practice as a whole.

I could write for pages about how impressive the results of Dr. John’s gentle adjustments are but several have done so here and on other site’s as well as his being voted Best of LA. It’s really so simple…

And for me, unlike any other treatments I have had, it lasts.
I had the initial overall adjustment– with really unbelievable results
and followed with a tune up just to be sure because I was surprised and then a little worried it was too good to be true.

I was referred to Dr. John by my husband and a friend — of whom both have had terrific results with back pain and spine help. After injuring my neck and incurring a concussion from a fall (skiing this past weekend), I have been suffering vertigo and pain all week. I am 100% better today with one treatment. No vertigo, no pain. Full range of motion on my neck. As a nurse, I’m naturally suspicious of anyone with DC behind their name, but Dr. John is in a class of his own. I highly recommend you give him a visit if you have any back/​neck/​nerve issues. He is the best!

Dr. Chris John is the best of the best. I had a severe neck/​shoulder pain for over 10 years and I have been to many chiropractors and other doctors who could not help me. Last year, I was pregnant with my 5^th child and at 32 weeks had a severe hip pinch nerve that ran through my back like an electricity shock. I could not get up or do any housework. My visit to Dr. John was a miracle. In my first visit, he had made me better and in my second visit I was completely better. If it wasn’t for Dr. John, I could have had a c-​section as the pain was too severe for me to do anything. Thankfully, after my treatment, I was able to continue my normal daily activities and had an easy 2 hour labor to meet my son at 41 weeks all naturally without any pain medications. Dr. Chris John is the best of the best. I can’t say that enough. Thank you Dr. John!!!

After reading all the reviews and a recommendation from a friend I went 13 visits and even though the doctor said we were making great progress and to be patient the results would come I spent over $ 1200.00 dollars (my insurance was not accepted) and sorry to say my back trouble is still the same as the first day I went. After the last visit I had a few questions about continuing but the only way I could get 3 minutes of his time was if I paid for another appointment. I felt zero improvement and I think I had spent enough for a quick call back. I hope you find relief but listen to your own body and if nothing is improving save your money. good luck, I hope you find relief.

If you’ve finally decided that chiropractic might offer you a way into wellness, yet still find yourself dreading the experience of all those stories you’ve heard about those who crack and jerk your joints, then you can do no better than calling Dr. John and paying him a visit. I’ve used him for more than four years now; I go once a month for what I call a «tune up» and then return to my regular life, which includes a lot of getting thrown around the room as a martial artist. Dr. John has helped me keep my spine (and everything else) healthy so that I can continue to do what I love.
His secret: Dr. John employs a technique called Directional Nonforce Technique, or DNFT, which came into existence around WWII but only begins to find acceptance now in the broader chiropractic community. Why? Mostly because they, like the rest of us, are foolish and cling to what they’ve been told is the way rather than explore and try to push the boundaries of their own knowledge and comfort with the unexpected. Dr. John overcame those prejudices long ago, and ever since studying this technique under its founder (and his mentor), has unselfishly shared it not only with patients, but with any of his colleagues who care to listen.
It works kind of like this: instead of actually forcing the subluxations into alignment, DNFT sends the suggestion, as it were, that the subluxation can now relax into realignment with the rest of the spine. Because no force gets applied, patients need not fear any jolts or jarring moves or the sneaky Q&A that other chiropractors employ to catch the body off guard, say, in order to release their necks — since the patients naturally tense up in the face of all this pushing and snapping. As a result, Dr. John gets to «talk» more with the body and uncover not only the presenting conditions, but also reveal the underlying and/​or compensating subluxations that linger beneath the surface. The result yields deep, significant relief and improvement over time of everything from flexibility and range of motion to one’s sense of well-​being and joie de vivre.

The one limiting factor seems the good doctor’s availability. As the 2011 Best Chiropractic award winner, his appointment book fills rapidly, so call before you urgently need a consultation; you’ll be so glad you did.

Dr John is amazing. He has been my doctor for over 15 yrs. I have severe disc problems and have had times when I could not pick up my head, it would be «stuck» in the down position. He has always been able to undo any problem with my neck or back relieving pain and pressure so I can work and sleep at night. God bless him, he is a genius

I just completed eight sessions with Dr. John, and his chiropractic method is the most effective I have found after 22 years of seeing different practitioners for my back problems. It was a bit of an investment, but after a few sessions, the results I was seeing convinced me to continue for his recommended duration to achieve relief. I was experiencing so much pain in my back and even numbness in one of my legs, but he fixed all of that. I am so grateful to my dance teacher for referring me to him!

Aside from being the nicest guy, hes also is the best at it. I tried a couple of non force chiros before and Dr John was the first one I felt made a big difference with my back issues. He’s very thorough, and he always knows your status before he sees you… non of that «remind me what’s wrong with you» stuff.

Chris John has saved me from intense pain many times. He even saved me from surgery. I was skiing in Italy when my back went out. Very seriously. I went to Rome, but the doc there just made it worse. I flew back to LA in horrible pain. Two medical doctors said «surgery». I went to Chris John. He said «give me two weeks and I’ll fix it.». I did and he did. I see him once a month now, and no problems.
