Don’t mean to be harsh with the one star but I just didn’t have a good experience. The lady at the front wasn’t very pleasant. Then I was kept waiting for an hour. After the doctor finally walks in he asks me a few questions about why I came in (my throat had been having a strange pain for about a week) and my health history. He stuck a camera/​tube down my throat for less than 3 seconds told me I was fine and to come back in two weeks if it still hurts. The doctor saw me for less than 5 minutes, they charged me my copay and I was out the door. Here we are over two weeks later and whadya know my throat still hurts. If i’d want someone to just tell me I’ll be fine and not really do much of an exam or give me a conclusion as to why my throat hurts, I could’ve just asked my mom or dad for free. Wont be going back to just hand them another co-​pay.

I went to see Dr. Berman in his capacity as an ENT.

i’ve visited him once. i saw him as a dermatologist and a ear, nose, and throat doctor. he’s a bright man who’s graduated from prestigious schools with 3 degrees that must’ve taken forever to acquire, but not a good doctor or person. he’s greedy and money hungry. he’s the type of doctor to make you schedule several appointments to do things that could have been completed in one visit with the purpose of making more money at the expense of his customers. he said i needed all this medication for many different problems i had. i feel like he purposely submitted my prescription to walgreens only giving me one of the things he said i need with the purpose of making more money by making me feel obligated to schedule more visits. i find it hard to believe that a doctor with 3 degrees who’s graduated from cornell could «forget» to write 3 things on a prescription. also, i requested that he prescribed me some retonin because retonin can be used for acne, but it also promotes skin growth and helps people preserve their youth. he denied my request even though my insurance would cover it 100% and told me he can only prescribe it if i have acne. i’ve gotten prescriptions from dermatologists for it before even when i had no acne. then he had the audacity to tell me that i can buy retonin from him out of pocket. lmao he’s stupid and an educated con artist. too bad he’s not good at it. i’m a recovering addict in sober living and i can still see him for who he truly is. he doesn’t really care about his patients. his objective is obviously to make as much money off of us as possible. i was going to see him again this week because it’s convenient for me since the same place his doctors office is, is also where all my other doctors are which is his ONLY strength, but someone as money hungry and manipulative as him does not deserve my business. i am going to find a dermatologist on Unilocal who does deserve my money.

I am shocked to read these negative reviews of Dr. Berman. My 10 yr old son broke his nose boogie boarding in Malibu on a Saturday afternoon. He had a nose bleed but jumped back in the water to keep surfing so I thought he was fine. By Sunday morning his nose was very swollen so I took him to Urgent care. The doctor recommended me to go to an imaging center for an X ray and an ENT for treatment.
My motherly instincts told me not to allow my 10 year old to have a facial X ray on a Sunday. So I decided to make an appointment with Dr. Berman for a 2^nd opinion on Monday. Dr. Berman personally called me on Monday morning and told me not to let anyone touch my son’s nose because at this age, there’s not much one can do for a broken nose and as long as it’s not deviated (it was not– his nose was very straight). He told us to come in and he would take a look at it.
My 10 yr old and I were very relieved after seeing Dr. Berman, he was attentive, knowledgeable and very kind.
He also told us not to over treat a child’s nose unnecessarily because it can lead to lifelong issues. And any doctor who tells me different is just trying to make money off me.
The consultation cost all of $ 60.
I am a tough customer and have zero complaints. And would recommend Dr. Berman to anyone who needs an ENT or a plastic surgeon! Thank you, Dr. Berman! As you said, we can barely notice the bump and the swelling has gone away completely after 2 weeks!

Dr. Behrman is also an ENT! This review is for my visit with him in his dual role as ENT.
After 3 trips to urgent care, their final recommendation was to see a specialist! I decided to actually try to find a doctor through my insurance (Cigna). Usually, since I have a PPO, I just want to find a doctor with great ratings/​reviews online, and don’t care so much about insurance. But, I went through my insurance and found Dr. Behrman listed as an ENT with 30 years of practice, good ratings, and he was accepting new patients. Great.
The staff was friendly before and during my visit, which was perfect because I was so sick and congested, that I could barely talk. The staff was compassionate and I felt taken care of. They gave me parking tips for the area, which was also very helpful. I always welcome tips on free parking in L.A.
While waiting for Dr. Behrman in his consultation office, I noticed lots of plaques and certifications and awards for plastic surgery. I was a little confused and asked the staff if I was in the right place. They confirmed that I was.
My visit with Dr. Behrman went very well. He was compassionate, friendly, and listened to my epic bronchitis story, and provided his thoughts and next steps. His estimate of my recovery time was correct. 4 weeks! He was also hooked up to some patient profile database, which I always appreciate. Both dr. and patient contribute to the file and build an ongoing dialogue for care.
So my experience was good. I now have an ENT. I don’t know what all of the plastic surgery situations were, but my ENT experience with him was fine.

I have been a patient of Dr. Berman’s for MANY years but as of the last visit I will never set foot in his office again. I have facial wasting due to long term HIV infection. Years ago Dr. Berman innovated some major improvements to treat this condition and I benefitted from it. Recently, after ten yrs. I returned for some «touch up» treatment. About two months ago was my first visit in more then ten years for a small amount of facial filler. At the time of that visit I thought it was strange that he simply walked in with the syringe and started injecting my face without the slightest attempt to wash his hands or cleanse my face before he started, There were no negative side effects and I saw visible improvement afterwards. Six weeks later I returned for another round. This time he was very busy, saw me in his personal office and not a treatment room, and this time launched into a horribly painful few minutes of him injecting over and over again in the same area without even the pretense of cleaning of the skin beforehand. Halfway through he stopped and took a call right in front of me. He did not re-​glove and just kept injecting in the now bleeding, searingly painful spot. When I left his office my face felt like it was on fire. Because that pain never really stopped or changed it wasn’t until four days later that I decided to contact his office because I believed that a serious infection had resulted. Indeed it had. Nearly a quarter of my face was bright red-​purple and was unbelievable painful… I had cellulitis. Over the phone he started me on antibiotics. After a few days I began to improve. It’s a good thing because he was «out of the country» on vacation and unreachable. THAT is why he was in such a hurry to treat me and get me out of the office. Being in a hurry and not observing even elementary cleanliness with any patient is completely inexcusable. If you go to Dr. Berman, don’t make my mistake and let him inject you without washing his hands, wearing sterile gloves and most of all MAKE SURE HE CLEANS THE AREA HE IS ABOUT TO INJECT! The resulting infection I suffered was a nightmare. I’ve lost two weeks to pain and suffering and all the side effects of a full coarse of antibiotics. I’m sure HE would say it was all due to the fact that Im HIV positive. That is total false. It was his fault 100%.

Due to sketchy billing I will never be using this doctor again. He was not very personable either.
1) They never mentioned a start up fee of $ 75 which took several calls to figure out what it even was they were now charging for
2) The hospital he scheduled me at for my surgery over billed me by almost $ 1k
3) The hospital and my doctor who both had my insurance still hired an anesthesiologist not covered by my insurance and then expected me to pay the huge bill and proceeded to call me and hound me for payment when it was their fault.
4) They still continue to bill me improperly with invoices that have no reference to what the hell they are for.
Unless you want a financial headache when you have to do major surgery, don’t use this doctor.

I ended up having a surgery on Jan 25, 2013 at Cedar Sinai. if you want to see other people’s reviews on dr. Berman, look him up on RateMDs. There are a lot of reviews on Dr. Berman. and a lot of unhappy patients.
Aside from my personal view on him, I received a bill from his office as well as EOP from my insurance. Turns out my insurance paid him a fat check for my visit. And now I’m stuck with the bill that my insurance didn’t cover. For what? For someone to tell me to take my vitamins and quickly look at my nose?
Just know what you are getting yourself into. Usually the co-​pay covers that. but it’s obviously not enough for our rich doctor. To me, I seems like Dr. Berman cares more about his patients. If i were a doctor, I’d understand that as doctors, they might not have the patience and energy to care for everyone. The «5 stars» seem to all come from his «long time» patients. Maybe I should have given him more chances but my initial visit was just so bad and unprofessional. This visit forever changed my view on doctors. While some doctors might genuinely care for you&others just want your money. I’m not even angry, just sad. I feel sad for doctors with bad intentions.

I went to Dr. Berman today for a consultation. I was kept in the waiting room for one hour and 40 minutes. When I was finally escorted to his office, he kept me waiting for another 20 minutes while he fussed over some data entry with his front office person.
When he finally got around to me, he not only had no apologies, he was arrogant, totally uninterested in getting to know me or what I was there for, he didn’t look at the referral notes or CT scan from my referring doctor, and to add to the already negative instincts this visit caused, when I arrived at my doctors office 30 minutes later, yes he had kindly faxed over the results of the office visit– another patient’s records! I know everything about the patient before me! Fortunately, my doctor had the good taste to shred the fax and refer me to someone else.
Would have and should have walked out after waiting for one hour, but figured, hey emergencies happen, patients have questions and things get backed up.
Visiting this doctor made me reinvest in that old saying, trust your instincts, first impressions are usually correct.

It sounds like there was some kind of mix up with the woman that previously posted a bad experience on ½.
I have been seeing Dr. Andrew Berman for over 10 years now and without fail he has done a great job and his office personnel have always been accommodating and courteous. I highly recommend his services.

I have made 3 visits to Dr. Berman’s office and during two of the three visits have had to deal with the rudest, most condescending receptionist I ever care to meet! Her name is Bridget. Prior to this last visit, I received 3 reminders for the appt., one as a message on my home phone, one by email, and one as a call on my cell phone. I called to reschedule the appointment and spoke to a receptionist. I’m not sure if this was Bridget, but she was very rude and told me I only had three options for an appt. time. I told her none of them really worked for my schedule, but I would try to make the latest one she offered. Minutes later, a second receptionist called to say my appt. time had been double-​booked and I could come and wait, or I could come later. This is after the first receptionist told me there were no later spots. These were 5 missed opportunities for them to remind or inform me of anything I needed to bring to the appt.
I took the morning off from work for my appt., arrived on time, and signed in. Bridget came out of the receptionist’s office and asked for my referral. When I told her I didn’t have one, she began to reprimand me for coming without a referral! I asked if I could keep the appt. even though I didn’t have a referral. She said no, so I left the office. I called my medical group’s patient services dept. and they told me that 1) the dr. Could have called on the spot for a referral, enabling me to keep my appt., but that 2) it is the dr ‘s responsibility to request a referral if they felt a follow up appt. was necessary. I’d been to the office twice before for possible sleep apnea.
I called the office and asked to speak to the receptionist I’d dealt with earlier. I was told that they do not give out the names of the receptionists to the patients. if I wanted her name I’d have to get it from her, so I asked if I could speak to that woman. Bridget came on the line and gave me her first name, refusing to give any further information because Dr. Berman told her she didn’t have to! After arguing with her for several minutes, I realized I was getting nowhere and asked her to have dr. Berman give me a call. Later, He left a message, not to apologize for his receptionist or at least smooth things over. Instead, he went in and on about how it was not his responsibility to request a referral, that it was mandated by my insurance and the fact that I have an HMO. He said it’s the way my insurance company chose to do things not the way he wants to do business. His information completely contradicts the info. I received from my HMO! And he made no reference to Bridget’s rudeness or lack of customer service!
I am a teacher and not a wealthy Beverly Hills housewife. I had to take time away from work for this appt. Yes, I do have an HMO. But never should I, nor anyone else, be subjected to the kind of treatment dished out by Bridget and Dr. Berman. If you don’t fit the preferred clientele of this «establishment», I recommend you stay far away. I’m sure they’d prefer it that way.

Dr. Berman is a great doctor and was a big help to me and my wife. I definitely recommend him.
