Alon Darvish

I had an urgent case and ALON DID THE JOB!
So yes the whole process is overwhelming, complicated and you cannot expect Alon to do the job unless you hold up your end of the bargain too. He’s busy and has a lot of cases which means piles of tedious paperwork. So you HAVE TO DO YOUR PART and stay on top of it.
Don’t wait 6 months to call him to find out what’s going on! It’s your case and your money. Don’t submit half of the information the court requires and then expect him to be able to do the job and then complain about it. After seeing some of the other people filing bankruptcy I would think that half the cases they get are just individuals unable to even come up with all the information required to get a case completed.
My story:
My bank accounts were levied in total on a Thursday evening. I had zero in checking and zero in savings. Gone!
The levy was from an old debt that I was unaware of associated with a previous property I had owned. I was legally separated from my spouse but not divorced yet at that time. I was desperate and needed help urgently or all of the funds in my accounts would be turned over to the creditor.
I frantically called a few firms and spoke to receptionists only. I called Alon and he picked up the phone himself on a Friday morning. I met with him first thing on Monday morning at his office. I paid him $ 1600 in borrowed cash upfront in exchange for the financial disclosure forms that I needed to fill out.
I returned the completed and scanned forms via email directly to Alon two days later and he filed my case with the court two days after that. I received an appointment with the Trustee and problem solved… or so I thought.
Alon called me a couple of days before my hearing and asked me not to show up. I was shocked, angry and upset. Alon was totally calm and cool about it and just explained that he needed a detail from me which I can’t even recall at the moment. I provided him with the information, he resubmitted to the court and then I received a failure to appear notice with a new hearing scheduled with the trustee.
Of course I was anxious. My assets were completely frozen and I was in the middle of a divorce and bankruptcy case.
Again, I was very worried but Alon was ALWAYS responsive to me via email, phone and text. I could tell he is a very busy attorney and other than postponing my case everything had gone well and just seemed to be part of the process.
We met at the building downtown for my hearing… I was very nervous but when Alon showed me some other cases that went before mine and I realized how the whole process works I then understood it’s just a formality. It’s like an auction atmosphere. The trustee speaks so fast, every case is treated exactly the same and lasts 2 minutes and it’s done. Half of the cases called don’t even show up and nobody misses a beat. Next case is up.
Mine was over before I had a chance to settle in to the chair.
Really, I had NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT at all… the whole legal process for bankruptcy is just a big machine of paperwork. Seemingly hundreds of people are filing bankruptcy every day in Los Angeles… YOU ARE NOT ALONE BUT YOU MUST ALSO COMPLETE A REQUIRED TWO-​PART ONLINE CREDIT COUNSELING CLASS that is filed directly with the court not through your attorney (although he does get copies too).
To top that all off, Alon went ABOVE AND BEYOND the call of duty for me when I was having trouble getting the Sheriffs and my bank to release the funds that had been levied!!!
He called both parties on my behalf and was able to get me a contact person at each office that I could then work with directly to fix the issue (that had nothing to do with my case or Alon… it was another paperwork snafu and red tape on behalf of my bank at this point). I had to talk to these people 3 or 4 times a day every day to get my money back because both parties were blaming the other and the money was just missing.
Alon called both the branch and the legal department for me and after 3 more weeks my funds were finally credited back to my account.

Alon Darvish changed my life. I paid him, returned all information required (delivered by hand) and thereafter, was told everything was in the process. I never heard from him again. Six months later when I called again and spoke to his assistant, who also chastised me for being a bit upset, I was told that they had never received the package of information required to go through with the the filing. I refused to get off of the phone until they found it. I hired another law firm just to get the full payment back so I could continue with the process. The excuses about his wife being pregnant, or about to deliver another child, not my problem. He lacks the basic professionalism you would expect from someone who is in his profession. And I’m still going through this process.

Beware this guy takes the money then ducks your calls. Took a retainer IN FULL not payments then avoided calls no call backs.
His modus operandi is he takes BK money and runs. he only cares about bigger money easy-​slam-​dunk personal injury cases.
Unscrupulous. Avoid this man. Positive reviews are his associates and fam.

We had a terrible experience with Alon. After the initial meeting, payment and first round of paperwork, we heard nothing. FOR WEEKS.
We sent emails. We left voicemails. We begged and pleaded for someone to get back to us. Did we fill in the paperwork correctly? Was something wrong? How long would this take?
Nothing.
Then suddenly an email from Alon’s assistant, saying we sent the information in a format they couldn’t read. No Dropbox documents, please. (They took weeks to tell us.) So my husband had to scan a stack of documents to email directly. They told us we were priority.
Aaaaaaand…nothing.
It was now MONTHS since we had started the whole process, and we STILL didn’t even know if we’d done everything right. At this point I stopped being polite in my calls. (We averaged about two calls a week, always leaving messages. Sometimes with the service, because the voicemail would be FULL.)
I complained to the association of bankruptcy attorneys via email, and they responded that they had no real power to do anything, and that I should go the California Bar Association.
But we suddenly got an email, so I’m assuming they at least got an email prompting them to talk to us. Unfortunately, they asked for MORE information they should have asked for IN THE BEGINNING. We provided it. Again we heard that our case was priority.
Aaaaaaand…nothing.
In the meantime, we had a lien against us. We added that information to our calls and emails and I will admit I started getting nasty, telling Alon (in a voicemail, of course) that if we got into more financial trouble because he hadn’t bothered to file our bankruptcy petition yet, it was his fault and we would hold him responsible. I also threatened to report him to the California Bar Association.
Nothing.
I finally went to the Bar and got their online form for filing a complaint. They ask that you write down in a letter everything that had transpired, and provide any evidence you had — we had reams of unanswered emails and records of when we had called — and send it to the attorney in question, putting them on notice that if you didn’t get a response in XX number of days, you were filing this letter with the Bar.
Wow, we didn’t just get an email — we got a personal phone call from Alon himself and an actual FACE-​TO-​FACE meeting! He chose the time.
Aaaaaaand…we get there and he’s not there. He was gone. I left a detailed and angry note for his mailbox and left. Halfway to our car he calls and says he’ll be back in thirty minutes. We give him the benefit of the doubt and go back, and he FINALLY shows up, with his little boy, telling us his wife had surgery and he had to pick up their son. Fine. We had absolutely no problem with that. But how unprofessional is it to run out on a scheduled meeting without calling, texting, or leaving a message?
We got all the paperwork straightened out. He filed the papers, and we finally went to court and got our debts discharged.
This week. We started the whole process in March.
At this point I have no idea if Alon Darvish is a good lawyer or a bad one. He did what he was contracted to do, but it took the threat of a complaint filed with the California Bar to finally get him to respond to us. That may have nothing to do with his competency as an attorney, but it has EVERYTHING to do with being unprofessional. Ignoring your client — especially one that HAS PAID YOU — is irresponsible and negligent.
Some people may have had a great experience. Fine. I’m happy that it went smoothly for them. All I can say is in relation to what we experienced, and what we experienced was horrendous.
He got the job done… eventually. Be aware of this if you decide to go with him.

This place is the worst and has the Poorest customer service! After I have paid the $ 1300 I have yet to hear back from him or his assistant Nery Alva and it’s been about 6 weeks! I have texted Nery 15 – 20 times and left about 10+ voicemails between the 2 of them… I need this matter resolved ASAP! I’m looking for assistance in getting my BK filed or my money back! This is unacceptable!!! As of right now I would not recommend! Horrible experience. I feel taken advantage of, and I want to know where my money is!!!

All I can say is if you want your BK to take up to a year… Use Alon. None of my phone calls are EVER returned! Now when I call they don’t say if he’s available and when I say my name they put me through to voicemail. I am not sure what the issue is here. Maybe my bk is too complex for him. I am a single mom who is just trying to get her life on track and the one thing holding me back is my bk, thanks to Alon and his unprofessional staff. If I could go back I would not have hired Alon and because of that my bk would be complete by now… A year later. Oh but of course he took my money. Be smarter than me… If it says top bk lawyer in LA online that’s not a good thing!

I was searching for a good bankruptcy attorney and the reviews were great, but I’ve had a totally different experience. I paid the full amount they requested and they said they would have a court date ready within a month. It’s been almost a month and I haven’t been able to get a hold of him and he always seems to be out of the office when I call. I’ve left multiple voice mails with no call backs. Now I’m talking to a different attorney and he’s is actually helping me get my money back from Alon Darvish and filing a complain. I DO NOT Recommend him.

paid up front, gave him all my required paperwork for filing bankruptcy when it came time to go to court he asked me not to show up cause his wife was having a child, than i get a letter saying i didn’t show up, called him and he said that was ok they’ll give me a second date by mail, got the second court date and he told me not to go claimed his secretary didn’t file the proper papers and my case got thrown out of court… said he will re file but haven’t yet, i been calling him ever since left messages and email him, with no response …

I actually got referred to alon darvish by a friend. I was filing for bankruptcy and asked my friends if they knew anybody who could help. a couple of people had mentioned alon and so naturally I took their word and rolled the dice.
Let me start by saying alon was a professional the whole way through. It really felt like i was in good hands. I could tell he was experienced just by the way he was explaining everything to me, and it showed that he had handled cases like mine before.
He broke it down step by step and made the extra effort to really walk me through the entire process. He was prepared everytime we met and really showed a high level of attentiveness.
Bottom line is if you want somebody who will work hand in hand with you and walk you through the necessary steps swiftly and efficiently i woul recommend you to alon darvish!

I was researching online for my friend to help her file for bankruptcy. I was reffered by another friend to go to Alon. Best way to go about things sometimes is by word of mouth, right? At first I was apprehensive because of some of the negative reviews but the other reviews made me change my mind otherwise and give him a chance.
With that said, I called into their office and spoke with Alon. Within 15 minutes, I was aware of what I needed to do and explained it to my friend. She primarily felt comfortable after my explanation then she pretty much moved forward with him.
He showed up to court with my friend and the bankruptcy was discharged. He helped my homegirl through rough times. She told me even after they went to court, he was able to communicate with her through phones calls and even via email through out her whole ordeal.

Alon is very professional, sensitive, efficient & not intimidating. It was the first time I felt trust interacting with a lawyer. I recommend Alon.

I Definitely recommend Alon Darvish. I was referred to him by a friend. He handled my bankruptcy very professionally and in a timely manner. He educated me on the entire process over the phone before I actually came in to the office. The price was fair and competitive compared the other attorneys I called. He will do all the paperwork and also accompany you to the court hearing. He is hands on and easy to get in contact with. I would refer my friends and family to Alon and trust him to take care of them like he did me.

I actually used him to help file bankruptcy for my husband. My husband is a hard working man but in his earlier los angeles days he made some really stupid moves regarding his credit to the point where his wages were being garnished. After some thought we decided that the best thing for us to do was to have him file for bankruptcy. Alon worked very hard for us but filing bankruptcy isn’t only the attorneys job, it is YOURS too. I was very proactive in listing all all the creditors info, addresses and phone numbers etc that were coming after my husband and giving the info to Alon. I also make certain all the creditors were listed in the petition before Alon filed it with the court by running my husbands credit at least 3 times PRIOR to the papers being filed with the court. This is VERY imp because you want to make certain all the creditors are listed. There is no turning back once the documents are filed. I felt that Alon and I worked together as a team to make sure my husband’s bankruptcy was filed successfully. The lines of communication between us and Alon was great. He responded promptly to emails and phone calls even when his baby was born. I know I wasn’t the easiest wife of a client to deal with, I have the patience of a gnat, but he was sensitive to it and knew that we were going through stressful times. Now that the bankruptcy is behind us my hubby and I have been working together to rebuild his credit. We would like to someday buy a home and Alon helped make that possible. Remember, Alon will work for you but you must know that you also have to do some work for yourself.

I highly recommend Alon Darvish for legal-​bankruptcy work. In addition to his deep knowledge of the relevant law and procedure, Alon was very efficient and sensitive to my financial situation at the time that I sought his help. Alon Darvish was my Lawyer that handled my bankruptcy. I was very nervous at first since it was my first time doing something like this. He walked me thru it as I had a lot of questions. He answer them no later than 1 day. He is also pro-​bono which helped me a lot since losing my job .As for some of these reviews that are poor, he was ill at the time of my services as he is only human. But called me as soon as he was ok to continue .In the end it went very well even thou he said it was going to be OK. I trust him and I highly recommend him. Thank You ALON!

Edited: Unfortunately, I just received my discharge, and despite assuring me multiple times he would make the necessary changes to my paperwork, the discharge was granted in the wrong name. Not acceptable.

I was actually very impressed by Alon Darvish. I had a hard time finding a lawyer that was responsive and qualified. IWhen I met with him, he took the time to understand my situation and talked me through possible solutions. He was helpful and informative, willing to answer questions every step of the way.

First of all, I know it’s difficult for most people to post any personal information about what they’re going through on Unilocal but I was actually pretty impressed with this law office. I was originally referred by a friend that had used them for a way more complicated situation which involved a lot of paperwork that needed to be done correctly. Once I gave them a call, I was set up with a consultation and was on the phone with Alon (not an intern or a secretary, which is appreciated) within one day. The only con with this is that it seemed like the office was pretty busy and I had to wait for the initial call back… not too bad but I hope they get faster at returning calls. My emails, however, were returned pretty quickly. There was a lot to go through, and I didn’t feel rushed or pigeon-​holed into going through a pre-​designed program. It seemed a little more personal than I thought it would be and he was pretty patient explaining the laws, etc involved in my situation. He was thorough in his explanation and didn’t hesitate to direct me to more websites (and his) which included more information explaining things a little further. After the consultation, we decided to start on the paperwork. He made the paperwork process easy for me and really had no problem doing all of the work with some more information. Since there was a lot of paperwork, but I honestly didn’t see much of it. Once everything was processed and complete, I got a follow-​up call from him letting me know the status of everything (which was also appreciated) and he also let me know of the actual TIMELINE which was an extra help. I know this was a long review but he took an enormously stressful situation, which was also overwhelming, and made it more manageable and organized than I could ever have imagined.

Update, I got my paperwork back finally and see all the many ways he dropped the ball. The insurance adjuster is JUST as confused as is the physical therapist who ALSO says my lawyer would not return his calls. WHO DOES BUSINESS LIKE THIS. AVOID THIS GUY! Shop around — he is inexperienced and so shady. I’m hoping to resolve my case in a timely manner and I will be sure to look into legal recourse for taking up with this person. When I needed legal support and expertise, he failed 100%.
