We had our wedding reception @Sterling recently and this venue surpassed all expectations and executed flawlessly on the night of the event. The package offering helped us cut through having to work with various other vendors. As a result, the in-​house catering was excellent, the décor was custom-​designed to our delight and the event manager pulled together all resources on the day of the event to ensure all of our guests (~300) were well taken care of and our event went as smoothly as possible. Working with Pooja was an absolute delight as she paid attention to details throughout the planning phase and the main event. Moreover, Pooja was very patient, reassuring and transparent during the negotiation and planning process. More importantly, she knows the ins and outs of all event types, knows her audience and effectively knows how best to make suitable recommendations.
We are very happy customers of Sterling Caterers and would highly recommend this venue based on our entire experience from start to finish.

I had my wedding here. And I must say I was very disappointed. As this is the first choice for a lot of our family weddings.
1. My wedding/​party coordinator was disorganized and forgetful. Which is a big deal when trying to plan. Many times I had to remind her of things that needed to be done.
2. I bought candles to put on the tables which werent even lit for my reception and some tables never got any candles.
3. Many of my guest complained that the food was cold when they received it.
I personally will never have an event here or recommend it to anyone. Management does not seem at all too concerned when my husband voiced our issues. We were basically brushed off.

Tonight I attended an event at The Sterling that was an Indian Community social gathering\awards banquet. The first thing that strikes your attention upon entering the property is the lighting. It’s breathtaking. Multi colored and set in motion, it’s a sight to behold. The landscaping and waterfall are gorgeous. When you enter the hall, the inside is not just aesthetically pleasing but also comfortable and inviting for lounging and socializing.
The food servicevworkers were friendly, helpful and professional.
The food was DELICIOUS but it was catered from an Indian chef they brought in from India for the event, not cooked by the hall. During the cocktail hour I was filling up my plate, going around the various serving stations more times than Dale Earnhardt Jr circling the NASCAR track. Finally someone was like uh you know this is just the cocktail hour and there’s going to be a dinner…
In the other room the Plainview fire department was having their Christmas party and they all appeared to be having a jolly good time. This place would be awesome for a wedding. Or a DIVORCE party! Or a sweet 16 or bar mitzva. Its centrally located close to the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway, hence close to the Nassau-​Suffolk border so convenient if you have guests spread out that live all over.

We had our daughter’s Sweet 16 party at The Sterling in September. What an amazing party it was. We dealt with Yama (the owner) from the beginning until the day of the party. He is such a pleasure to work with. He helped us bring our vision into the party exactly as we wanted. He is very kind, courteous and extremely professional (and might I add patient). Everything we discussed he remembered (I forgot about the Ice Sculpture) — he made sure it was there and that we didn’t have to worry about anything that night. He went above and beyond and it was really appreciated.
The venue is very beautiful, both inside and outside, especially when lit up in the evening. The Conti Room (where we had our party) was perfect for the evening. We loved the LED dance floor and how the lighting throughout the room made the place feel magical. All of our guests (family and my daughter’s friends) cannot stop talking about how beautiful the party was and what an amazing time they had (we are still getting calls). They had many compliments about the food and drinks and how well organized everything was. The staff was very attentive to us and our guests and made sure everything went smoothly (thanks Damien).
My daughter looked and felt like a princess on her special night and it’s all thanks to the wonderful people at The Sterling, especially YAMA! I would not hesitate about booking a second occasion with them and highly recommend them.

Such a beautiful place! That is including the outside with a waterfall. I attended this place for a wedding and I arrived for cocktail hr right on time. The drinks were sooo good (cranberry and vodka) as well as the appetizers. I had hummus, pita brad, fruits, crab cakes. Everything tasted very fresh. The reception area was beautiful with chandeliers, flowers as center pieces as well on the ceiling. They had a great DJ that kept the party going. The food seemed good but didn’t have much since it was too late for me to eat. I recommend this place for whoever would like to celebrate a special occasion.

My best friend had her wedding her early September and it was amazing. I loved the lighting, the food and the space. It was definitely a fairytale wedding and everyone include the bride and groom enjoyed themselves.

Attended a wedding during late summer. This place was beautiful with a waterfall outside. There were two receptions going on but you could not tell or hear anything from the other wedding. There was plenty of food at the cocktail hour and two bars. Once inside the cake was hanging from the ceiling which was something different that I had never seen. Also I loved the entrance of the bride and groom whom came out through a door in the wall with LED steps and dry ice fog and a screen showing their silhouettes (although the dry ice fog made the room freezing cold). The bathroom was huge and clean with plenty of mirrors and plenty of chairs. The staff was also very helpful especially when we needed additional seating at our table.

My friend and I both had our phones stolen at this place. The owner refused to call the police or get involved in any way. Every time I post a review here, they apparently arrange with Unilocal to have it removed. You have to wonder what percent of the negative reviews in general are taken off Unilocal!Stay away from this business, no integrity what so ever.
Here is my previous review: TERRIBLE, STAY AWAY The owner Raj and staff including Diane and Bill are extremely unprofessional and I emphasize that you should NOT do business with these people. When there is a problem, they are NOWHERE to be found. They do not return phone calls ever, but simply ignore you.
We had multiple thefts of personal property during a recent function and the proprietor took no ownership, refuses to file a police report or even return our phone calls. The person who answers the phone continues to tell us that he is in an important meeting and will call us right back. This has been going on for three weeks now.
STAY AWAY — do not give this place an opportunity to steal your guests’ property — ANY other place else would be better.
Extremely disappointing service and no follow up or professionalism.

I attended a wedding here this past summer. I do think that this place is nice and looks even more beautiful in the night time. The bartenders/​staff here are REALLY nice. The food is average and served buffet style. The space isn’t that big. It would be nicer for a smaller wedding or maybe a different type of event. I felt like we were seated 10 – 12 at a table and I felt squished. The desert wasn’t great and I don’t remember liking it too much. I do like the lit up dance floor however it was hard to dance on, it felt too rubbery with my shoes and I couldnt bust out my moves lol. Overall, its a nice place, I would use this place for a smaller gathering.

Ive attended many weddings and parties here. Overall great experience. There is plenty of parking in their lot, there was no valet for any of the parties Ive been to. The service was good and had a lot of waiters to serve guests.

Attended a wedding here and it was great. It was over the top for my tastes but exactly what the bride and groom wanted.
My only 3 minor complaints-​the ceremony was inside and there weren’t enough chairs that irks me, you know how may people are invited.
Second, the cocktail hour had VERY limited tables or chairs so it was a balancing act of epic proportions to hold your plate, and eat and drink which is the focus right then! Third, the reception hall and the cocktail room shared a bar. Rather than open the divider between the areas to get people through, we were corralled like cattle out of the cocktail hour, into the lobby and then into the hall. Which also made the bar hard too see.
The food was great, plenty of it. The service was good. The desserts were excellent. Very nice venue for a guest at a wedding.

This has got to be the best catering hall, ever. I had my wedding reception here in August of 2012. One of the managers that I worked with, Yama, went out of his way to make sure I had the wedding reception of my dreams. Every last detail was more than I could ask for. Even though I changed my mind over 100 times about the décor, Yama was always patient with me. I had over 200 guests at my reception and everyone was shocked at how beautiful everything was. My guests who were there in time for cocktail hour enjoyed the LED lounge furniture that arrived just in time for my reception while they sipped their drinks and snacked on appetizers, which was plentiful. Some made use of the outdoor patio (mostly smokers). I received so many compliments about how delicious the food was and how happy everyone was about the open bar (those who drank). The wedding cake that they provided was to die for. One layer of tres leches and top layer of red velvet… my two faves, which I chose. Viennese hour was a hit, an assortment of desserts (for those who didn’t want wedding cake), coffee, tea. and not to mention the fireworks! There were some who said the reception was fit for a king and queen. Enough of my bragging. I’m happy I chose The Sterling to host my wedding reception. Their prices are very reasonable and there are several packages to choose from, you get what you pay for. I would definitely recommend this hall, again and again.
Sidenote: the staff at the Sterling who I’ve met were a delight to meet and work with for the planning. They were all very friendly. Also, of all the times I’ve been here, it was always immaculate, super clean. I’ve seen a lot of other catering halls, nothing else can compare, and I have very high standards when it comes to planning a once in a lifetime occasion.

The World Famous Spectacular Sterling desert was truly as spectacular as I expected it to be. The DJ is puntastic.

My friend hosted a bat mitzvah party for her daughter here. The inside is just beautiful, everything is marble and very classy. The party hall had a very interesting dance floor. The dance floor was lit with electronic lights, I think LED lights. When we walked in the words on the floor said «Jennifer’s bat mitvah!»
As the party went on and the bat mitzvah candle lighting ceremony took place, the words on the floor changed to the names of whoever was lighting candles.
Throughout the party the dance floor also changed to many different colors.

I went to a friend’s wedding at this place and the couple chose to hold the service and the reception in the same venue. The service was an hour long Hindu ceremony.
It’s unfortunate that the couple decided to hold the quiet and traditional ceremony part here because a few minutes into it, the heavy vibration and sound of the bass of the music from another party somewhere next door started droning on through the ceremony, growing louder and louder. Shortly thereafter, a small crowd from another event poured into a nearby suite, *which was through two double sets of doors and a long hallway, mind you*, and yet somehow the noise of the boisterous laughing and carrying on was so pronounced that it seemed like it was headed through the door and into the room where our ceremony was. It was disruptive and went on for a really long time. There were plenty of staff around that could have checked up on it, but nothing happened. Happily, the couple and the family seemed to be fairly relaxed about it.
The reception and cocktail hour were both very pleasant however, and the servers were all very attentive to our friends and all of the guests. They seemed very eager to make everyone happy. They went out of their way for the bride and groom, so because of this, I feel somewhat bad to report the noise situation. I think if they had just chosen to have a separate ceremony and just had their reception here, it would have been better for them. The food was typical catering fare with an Indian/​American twist, nothing stand-​out, except for the great desert spread, which was presented with much awesome cheesy fanfare. Kind of fun.

We had our wedding at the Sterling and there were alot of items we purchased that were changed the day of our wedding. The cocktail hour sucked because we did not want pork products and they substituted last minute without notifying us. There were mice running around the place and guests came up to us and told us that they saw mice by the bridal suite. we spoke to Yama and he said he would look into it without any care or concern, like he brushed us off. also, the food came out of the kitchen ice cold and many of our guest complained about this. the prime rib was rare, the potatoes and veggies were not fully cooked. all in all, a horrible experience and the staff and management were uncaring, unsympathetic, and hostile after the wedding when we approached them with these complaints from our guests. it was like murphy’s law: whatever could have went wrong did go wrong and the Sterling staff were not interested in our happiness.

They get 3 stars for price, but only for price and some of the staff. We got married there and some things were not delivered as agreed upon and it certainly could be cleaner, much cleaner.
