Nuts About Ice Cream

This place has the best variety of flavors! The owners are a lovely couple and they know how to make some great ice cream! I love that they have some really exotic, but simple flavors that you didn’t think you could crave but once you try it you’re constantly craving it! My dad recently had me pick up a large order at this place for a party that he was having and he ordered 9 of their flavors. We got the following:
Kulfi
Saffron Pistachio (this is a sweet homage to Indian culture, sounds like a strange combination but it just so flavorful and wonderful that you have to at least try it)
Mint Chocolate Chip
Chocolate Almond
Fig (this was one of my favorites)
Apricot (also delicious)
Custard Apple
Coconut (so wonderful)
Mango
Like I said, the variety at this place is just unparalleled. They even overnight ship across the country if you’re craving something unique! So good, I highly recommend!

Visited Nuts About Ice Cream for first time last week after moving daughter into Lehigh. Had the fig ice cream. Wow!!! Out of this world. The ice creams all have higher fat content and are thus very smooth and creamy to the palate. They offer some very out of the box flavors such as lychee and kulfi, both of which (along with the fig) I have never seen in Boston! The owners are very friendly and very much passionate about their ice creams!

RIDICULOUS customer service. Braggy pants and arrogant owners. Even my 8 year old said they should get an employee. It is one thing to be proud of your own business and another thing to be haughty. But I do have to admit the ice cream is GOOD. Best advice– order beforehand and do curbside pick up, and just LEAVE!

Very friendly service (owners). All ice cream and sorbets are made in house in small batches. I had raspberry cabernet sorbet the husband had saffron pistachio ice cream. Both were absolutely amazing! We sampled a few others which made our decision very hard because they were all very good. Decided to go with something that we have never heard of or had before. I highly recommend

Passing through on a charity cross country bike tour. Owner was SO nice and even donated ice cream to our group. There are so many unique and delicious flavors. All over a great place.

Best ice cream in Bethlehem! I (usually) only eat Butter Pecan and there’s is the BEST I’ve ever had! The owners are incredible and passionate. There is no comparison in town!

I am not nuts about this place.
The gentlemen owner was very friendly, the woman did not even acknowledge my friend and I. When my friend asked to try a traditional flavor she was told that she already knows what it tastes like. Yes, chocolate may be chocolate to some but considering in their smores ice cream they had teddy grahams in the ice cream we both figured the taste might be different. But that didn’t matter he was not letting us try a ¼ of tsp of his ice cream. Kind of ridiulous and bad customer service if you ask me.
truth be told the place looked like it needed a good cleaner and was a mis mosh of stuff they must have collected over the years. It was pretty clear why the line for the cup was wrapped around outside and we were the only ones in nuts about ice cream.

I had the salted caramel ice cream and cookies and cream this past weekend. The ice cream itself was delicious, however, I was a little disappointed when I asked for a sample of the chocolate peanut butter and was told «you know what that tastes like». Definitely some unique flavors offered.

This is by far the best ice cream in the valley and probably anywhere! It is homemade, handmade, and made on the premises. They not only have traditional flavors but also exotic flavors like saffron pistachio and rose. Taste them first and you’ll find a new favorite! The family who owns it is so sweet and it is nice to support a small business who have nice owners too! The Cup? No more! You will go nuts over Nuts about Ice Cream!

After going nuts about this place for 8 years, this is my long overdue review!
Let me begin with a story. One October evening, my fiancé and I were walking down locust street (right adjacent to the shop), enjoying our delicious icecream. A group of men sitting at a porch on one of the houses there called out to us and said «Hey you know where you can get better icecream? Right down the street at the «cup». We looked at him and his friends, rolled our eyes and said «No you can’t, it doesn’t even come close to this».
The story settles a popular debate (I fail to understand why people even try to debate this). Which of the two icecream parlours on Linden Street are better? Answe: Nuts about Icecream, by a long, long way.
Nuts about Icecream is owned by a wonderful family who make the freshest, most delicious icecream on premises. For those who love their favorite simple flavors like chocolate, you are in danger (in the best possible way) of not only loving what you eat there but also packing a tub to take home. For those (and I stongly urge you too) willing to try out new flavors try a whole host of flavors unknown to most. Try their rose, mango, chikoo, saffron pistachio. Or their seasonal favorites like pumpkin, rum n raisins, eggnog (all made fresh and from real ingredients). Try their sundaes on a summer afternoon and melt away into orgasmic deliciousness.
They also make custom icecream cakes! So for those of you who wants icecream and more icecream for their birthday, how about trying one here!
The place was once a pharmacy and it still has the mid century bar stools, countertops and even a working juke box. People of the lehigh Valley, for those who have never been here, shame on you! Do not settle for just a «cup»! Go nuts about icecream at «Nuts about Icecream»!

After only my FIRST trip to Nuts About Ice Cream just yesterday, I can say with much confidence that my relationship with The Cup (Bethlehem Dairy store) has come to an abrupt finish. (Maybe not like that but they’ve definitely become my parlor on the side.)
Nuts About Ice Cream is like the boyfriend who gives you everything you’d obviously expect (joyous laughter, flowers on your birthday) but has traits your ex just couldn’t and wouldn’t EVER possess (he’s fluent in Russian, he’s hung out with Questlove.)
For example– Nuts About Ice Cream (NAIC) features your everyday flavors like chocolate, strawberry, banana, etc. but also offers you exciting fresh choices such as kulfi, orange blossom, green tea, and rose, to name a few of the exotic flavors in their circulation.
The layout of the shop is large and open with ample seating, and also a collection of v cool, healthy house plants living in one corner near the front of the store.
Service was awesome (and prices were competitive!)– the woman who served us was very kind and patiently offered samples. She also meticulously layered our scoops of ice cream in a fashion that would let us taste each flavor in the best way possible!!!
Finally let’s talk about the jukebox in this place… At just 25 CENTS PER SONG you can be the DJ of parlor! Selection features a range of music from the Backstreet Boys, to TLC, to Lenny Kravitz, Jamiroquai, and beyond. And it’s worth noting that a portrait of Elvis Presley looks down graciously upon you while you make your selection of music.
If you haven’t made it to the end of this review I just assume it’s because you are on your way to Nuts About Ice Cream.

A seriously serious ice cream joint run by the sweetest couple of folks.
Salted caramel, peanut butter chocolate, butter brickel combo was wonderful… playing well with each other in my sundae cup. My partner had saffron pistachio, cardamom, and rose water. He liked it. The signature Indian flavors were fantastic.
The décor could have used some sprucing up… but here it’s all about what’s in your cup or cone.
Absolutely stop here if you’re around.

Somehow I missed this place in the previous few years of living in Bethlehem. I will admit that someone recommended it and I dismissed the recommendation (to my wife’s annoyance i gotta add!) because of its outward appearance and its location. It looks pretty rundown and while I usually gravitate towards hole-​in-​the-​wall establishments the fact that it sits across from the high school led me to assume the worst (industrial product dished out fast for 17 year olds…)
Then I read somewhere that they had homemade Saffron Pistachio and I realized that I had potentially made a tremendous error. And did I ever. This may be the best ice cream I have ever tasted. I have gone twice now with my boys so have had the opportunity of sampling several different flavors.
Saffron Pistachio is GREAT, but for my money Kulfi is maybe the finest ice cream I have ever consumed outside of a cinnamon variety from Eismanufaktur in Berlin (a review for another day.) With subtle but persuasive notes of cardamon it hints at a good Chai (which I am a fan of) and hits another 3 – 4 spice flavors without any one overwhelming. I have had some ‘crazy’ flavors before, this isn’t one of them. Instead of bombarding the palate this is light and refreshing and I feel like I could write ode after ode to it. Salty Caramel is very good, although I have to admit I have had better elsewhere…
I would be remiss here if I didn’t note that both my boys would rather go to Bethlehem Diary Store. They like the ‘stuff’ there and my 7 year old complained bitterly that there was no gumball ice cream available at Nuts About Ice Cream. I guess compromises will have to be made, but I will sneak in a trip here as often as possible going forward!

Excellent chocolate almond. This was a quick decision as they were near closing time. Many interesting homemade choices. We will go again and sample. The setting was not fancy being, reportedly, an old drug store but we weren’t there for the décor. The scoops were sizable. Bethlehem certainly has many gemstones.

With all of the opportunities for partaking in some ice cream (and now frozen yogurt) in and around Bethlehem, this is definitely our default location.
First and most importantly, their flavor options are the most varied and can’t be beat. While I find it hard to stray from my usual scoop of Saffron Pistachio in a sugar cone, I am sometimes tempted by new and seasonal varieties such as Fig, Kulfi, and Custard Apple. My husband is quite the fan of their extra thick shakes, as is my 2 year old daughter.
They have fabulous sorbets as well, with Passion Fruit being my personal favorite and one you should not pass up.
What also needs to be noted is how incredibly friendly and accommodating the owners, the Joshi family, are when you are there. We are greeted by friendly «hellos» every time we enter the shop.
A stop at this ice cream shop should be made any time you are in Bethlehem. They have sundaes, cones, shakes, and most definitely the best ice cream in town.
One helpful thing to note, they do accept credit cards, but it must be for a charge over $ 10.
