Chocolate Lab

Very cool place. It’s a chocolate lovers paradise which chocolate covered potato chips, bacon, fruit, cookies and more. Definitely worth the visit.

Walking around downtown Bethlehem any time of year is enjoyable but why not make it memorable by treating yourself to a chocolate from the Chocolate Lab? That is exactly what I did last weekend. Huz and I each got a different piece of chocolate; him the turtle and me the chocolate covered pretzel stick with sprinkles… and the giant chocolate covered smore on a stick. It’s a cute shop with an enormous selection of sweets and reasonably priced for the quality.

I am very picky. The choc is top notch. I’m glad I stopped. I had milk salted caramels. My husband had peanut butter balls and a few others enjoyed everything. Ladies in the store were awesome and a true delight.

Absolutely amazing candy! It is pricey, but what isn’t today? I needed a present for my fussy father in law that is a chocoholic LOL and he said this was the best chocolate he has had in 30 years! He said it’s like how they used to make it! Not the poor quality garbage that companies make today.
The store is small and it gets cramped lol but it is worth it! I buy the milk Choc caramels, Sea salt caramels, and Choc covered coconut and it never lasts more than a day!
I just love this stores hand made chocolates! Worth every penny!
EDIT: I recently went back for more chocolates and spent $ 50 and they all were stale! The last couple of times I went in the lady took them all from the back. This time the girl took them all from the front case and they were all hard and not tasty at all. Kinda annoyed I wasted $ 50 on stale chocolates now. Next time I will ask for a sample before I buy anything! Lowering to 3 stars

Ugh. Cheap chocolate. You can buy better at the supermarket. I bought chocolates for friends as gifts. I wish I hadn’t. Drive a bit more and go to Dolce Patisserie in Hellertown, PA. What a difference!!! That place deserves a 6 stars!

The chocolate at the chocolate lab is to die for. Arlene, the owner, puts her passion for her work into every piece of chocolate and it shows. I have not had a bad piece of chocolate from here. My wife and I were highlighting local Bethlehem businesses and we had several hundred pieces of chocolate from her at our reception for our guests. They still rave about it. I strongly recommend the chocolate covered bacon, salted caramel dark chocolate and Tiramisu truffles.

Fantastic selection of chocolates! We bought peanut butter balls and salted caramels… Wow. Such high quality! Great service from the owner. Personalized service with a smile. She was really thankful for our business and seemed geniunue. We will be back!

If I can’t finish writing this review, it’s because I might short out my keyboard as I’m drooling just thinking of the delicious treats from this place.
While visiting this charming hamlet, I stopped in here and picked up some choco pretzels, dark chocolate salted caramels and some fluffernutter cups. Everything was good. I loved the white, milk and dark chocolate pretzels.
The salted dark chocolate caramels were heavenly. I ate the entire box and then felt sick, but I didn’t care.

we really enjoyed this little cute store. it is very nicely decorated and it smells like nothing else :) the chocolate is good and they offer a lot of varieties. Jennifer who works there is very friendly and we chatted with her while we shopped there. We came back the day after to get a hot chocolate and set in the store for a while.
and it was right across our hotel! a must go to for chocolate lovers!

These are not your grand moms chocolate cupcakes. Actually, they’re someone else’s. Nothing short of an heirloom recipe. And made by the loveliest pink haired temptress you’ve ever met. Actually, I guess I’ve ever met.
Chocolate on her hands, cocoa on her cheeks, buttercream glistening on her lips. One hell of a cupcake maker.
And the creator Chocolatier? She is chocolate love; Spontaneously comfortable, irrepressibly exotic.
She is the humanness of humanity. The love of putting your heart into and around the the art you create.
The solid dark chocolate is ebony delight, with a sultry smoothness, perfectly glossy smooth shell when licked turning into pure passion, until it melts in complete satisfaction. … On your tongue.
The cupcakes are intense. Both cake and icing. Chrome body with light yet firm interior, dense chocolate taste, and soft slippery moist icing that says eat me: now! Wow, I’m exhausted.

I’m eating a chocolate covered Nutter Butter from here as I write this review. I love the chocolate here. It’s so smooth, creamy, rich, and delicious. There’s a wide variety of choices from standard (chocolate covered Oreos, truffles, etc.) to eccentric (pop rock milk chocolate). It’s pricey though, so I only pick up a few things at a time. However, I do like these chocolates as gifts for others (or a gift to myself after a particularly good or bad week).
The woman behind the counter is quite nice, eccentric even. She suits the shop perfectly, and is one of the reasons I return frequently. Ending this review… getting up to get an inside out chocolate peanut butter cup. Addicting sweets (and I don’t have much of a sweet tooth).

Sea salted and chocolate covered caramels… the best. The décor is very fun. I love the glittery painting of Liberace, whoever painted it, it’s fantastic! The prices are somewhat high, but the quality is very good.

Basically, here it is: the service is mostly not very friendly. I’ve been here maybe five times, and none of those times was I especially happy with how I was greeted or served. No friendly banter, etc. And yes, it’s pricey… but I really only come here for a couple of specific things. The Chocolate Covered Sea-​Salt Caramels… they’re handmade, and they’re delicious, whether in milk or dark chocolate. Oh, man, I crave these little guys every few weeks, if you know what I mean?
I also love the aroma of pure chocolate when I walk into the shop. It’s really cute to look at, if only they’d hire FRIENDLY staff. That would make me come in a lot more often!

Chocolately, sweet, melty deliciousness.
Smells dee-​lish in here — and they have a small, yet respectable selection of sugar free candy (my mom is a diabetic).
Their truffles are to die for… we had a toffee-​related something and a couple peanut butter cups.
The flat fee of $ 20 a pound is a bit expensive, but if you’re only buying a couple of truffles. then go ahead and splurge! You won’t be disappointed.

They have many items that can be bought at the supermarket (Oreos, Nutter Butters, Marshmallows, etc.) covered in chocolate. Most of their candy is $ 20/​lb. which is fairly inexpensive for a chocolatier. I tried their peppermint creams, strawberry cream and peanut butter cream. The peppermint and strawberry flavors were weak. The strawberry tasted very sweet and a little fruity, but not much like strawberry. The peanut butter is also intensely sweet. Their «zingers» are decent, caramel and peanut butter covered with dark chocolate and a salty peanut on top. If you’re looking for something to satisfy your sweet tooth and you keep your expectations in check (think boardwalk chocolates) this is a fine place to stop.

This place is amazing! A choice of so many things like peanut butter balls and a large selection of truffles. And all these candies are handmade. My personal favorites are the pop rock milk chocolate bars and the regular milk chocolate is also delicious!

great place to go when you’re not feeling like having truffles but still want chocolate. sure, they have truffles here, but there’s lots of other stuff like:
chocolate covered oreos. i always felt like oreos are too dry tasting. if you get the double stuff oreos, the extra junk on the inside helped that but they don’t make those anymore, do they? anyway, the people here put just the right amount of dark chocolate around an oreo to elevate it into something else: something i would like to eat (a lot) more of. they also had them dipped in other kinds of chocolate.
inside out peanut butter cups. if you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to have a peanut butter cup that has the chocolate on the inside and the peanut butter on the outside, here is your opportunity. oh, and here’s a question: how did they thicken the peanut butter up enough to coat the outside without it being sticky? i really should have asked them that, they were friendly and helpful and i’m sure they would have answered me.
dark chocolate balls with peanut butter centers (also in different chocolate outsides) — thin chocolate coating over a large mound of peanut butter. good stuff.
GIANT pecan turtles. this was supposed to be their best seller and i didn’t try it. i wanted to, but couldn’t justify getting one considering how big they were. they looked amazing though.
hawaiian sea salt caramels. the only real ‘miss’ for me from what i tried. wasn’t crazy about the shape (small square), the caramel, and it could have used more salt.
everything is 18.95 a pound. five good size confections came out to about 8.00.
my favorite thing about this place was that they offered me napkins with my bag in case i wanted to snack on the go. they knew. THEY KNEW…

Did a day trip up here several weeks ago and bought a small sample of several chocolates. They are awesome!!! Highly recommend!

Stopped there on a walk back from lunch. Went into the shop and a guy with a LARGE dog was there ahead of me (later found out it was one of the owners of American Hairlines) The woman clerk refused to even acknowledge I was there and proceeded in a long conversation with the guy with the LARGE dog-​did I say that it was LARGE? She totally ignored me and then proceeded to pet the dog in the store. Health code violation? Perhaps… Oh! And she was dressed slopily with the crack of her arse sticking out. Finally the guy left and I still stood around waiting for help for another 10 minutes while she talked on the phone. I really wanted to see how long it would take her to wait on me. She finally did and I asked her if she had washed her hands after touching the dog. She said she did but put on plastic gloves at my insistence.
The chocolate was good, but the experience won’t bring me back.

Oh my, do you like deciding whether you want milk or dark chocolate with the pairing of inside-​out peanut butter cup or fluffernutter. Arlene (the owner) is fantastic and has taken this shop from a little store front on the block of the Boyd and moved one block into the real downtown. It is an amazing place.
And have some hot chocolate too.
