Because of a Dog assists companion pet owners with financial assistance for medical, surgical, food, and supplies. We also assist local/​state gov’t agencies, municipalities, and ACO’s with food, slip leads, and supplies for strays.

History

Established in 2014.

Because of a Dog was founded in July 2014 by Selena Anstead. Approved as a 501©(3) non profit in August 2014 and registered as a charitable organization in September 2014, she recognized a need for companion pet owners and local/​state gov’t agencies, municipalities, and ACO’s — a need for assistance for medical, food, and supplies for their pets and strays.

She began crossposting animals in need in 2010, volunteering for rescues in 2011 and fostering puppies for a local shelter and rescues in 2012.
