Puree Artisan Juice Bar

I really don’t understand why I even tagged along with a friend to buy a $ 10 juice for the Daily Green the size of a 16 fl oz Coke bottle. (I could’ve actually made it taste better)
Yes, the juices are healthy and good for you & you are what you eat. But damn, for the value and the crappy service, save yourself from this place and buy 2 organic fruits/​veggies at whole foods and make it yourself or message me & if I’m free, I’ll make it for you. smh

Real raw, fresh pressed juice without a bunch of chemicals and sugar. This is very difficult to find around here, so I’m assuming that is why it costs a bit more. This isn’t some chain smoothie place that makes its drinks from a mix.
Every juice that I’ve had from here has been really good. I live the «pot» brownies, too.

The staff is really fantastic here but the juice is not made in front of you and is already pre-​made. The glass jars are really lovely and the prices here are outrageous. The staff rocks however, which is why I am giving them four stars!

I was having a sweet tooth craving & wasn’t in the mood for anything heavy or over indulging fulfilling.
Soooooooooo, I called & inquired if they had any Vegan treats, & was told yes in addition to the fresh, pressed juices they are so popularly known for. «Just so you know everything in the store is Vegan»…why thanks I responded.
Without further ado, I hopped on the elevator & took a quick walk down the street & here I am. Walked in, everyone smiled & greeted me & I was on the hunt for the goodies. I didn’t need a tour guide as it’s a quaint little spot with an open feeling of 2 big windows & minimal furniture. There are a few tables with a booth sitting & a couple of high back chairs for the watching of the juicing & or partaking of your juice right then & there.
My trajectory of finding something to curve my sweet craving was off a tad bit, as I got sidetracked by the juice station… so many fresh greenery & ingredients sprouting up everywhere. Due to being a stickler for clean & organized spaces, this place hit the mark, as it was green clean looking, everything in order, garden colors & objects just situated as can be. LUV, LUV, LUV seeing everyone wearing gloves & replacing them after each use, kudos!
Anyone want fresh juice?!
OMJ-uice…the variety was like a rainbow of fruit/​veggie concoctions. I didn’t pick up any juices but made a mental note to go back for some of their unique variations. Besides the normal apples, berries, ginger, kale & such, they offer other ingredients like Young Thai Coconut, Dates, Cacao, Hemp and Chia seeds, Maca (plant family)…who would of thunk?
In addition to the fresh juices, they offer cleanses & a nice selection thereof, from the Purity, Clear Verde to a Deep Sea Detox. It’s a 3 day supply that comes with a Cooler Bag & a free ½ hour Wellness Coaching session, any type of free is always a plus.
I’m on fresh juice flow so I made a note to pick up the Mean Lemon-​aid that has cayenne pepper & the Grasshopper with the combo of pineapple & wheatgrass, I would devour wheatgrass on a daily basis of I could. They also offer pre-​made light bite entrees, like the Walnut Burrito & Samosa with Mango Chutney, powered supplements & body essentials.
«Snap back to reality, oh there goes gravity» & my quest for something sweet… I got two things.
1, was the «Pot» Brownie… be easy, I know I’m in MD yet the yummy ingredients are full of non-​cannabis protein, omega-​3s & fiber — walnuts, hemp seed, cacao powder, dates, vanilla & sea salt… I’d pass a drug test after partaking of the consumption.
My other treat was the Totally Rawganic’s Gingered Lavender & Walnut chocolate bar, 72% pure… ayyo, big ups to the local artisan for creating this delish concoction! I actually saved one of the brownies to have with a glass of Almond Milk when I got home.
Their tag of everything all organic, raw, vegan at all times, is the truth! There is also a rewards program, so hey, spend a lot, earn a little & feel good at the same darn time.
I really enjoyed my virgin trip here & even though the prices are a tad steep, it’s definitely worth every penny for the raw/​veganism aspect of fresh, organic & of course a great aid to healthy benefits.
Thank you Team Walter, Angelo, Enrique & Yohannes as I ended up asking questions as usual & was assisted with organic & great customer service by them all.

I’ve stopped in for juices and shakes several times and really loved the taste and the way Purée’s products make me feel; so when I decided I needed a reset to my eating habits, I decided to give them a go!
I chose the three-​day juice til dinner cleanse — three juices and a nut milk, then a healthy dinner — and I really love it. I’m on my first day, and I loved all the juices! Even the green juice wasn’t as bad as others I’ve had before.
I really appreciate the glass bottles, the integrity of the product, and the friendliness of the employees :)

WOW, stay-​at-​home moms after yoga… that’s all you need to know about this place. oh. and you’ll probably be spending at least $ 10 on 16oz of juice.
The juices here are on point, but really nothing special. How they can get away with charging so much is amazing. It’s Bethesda I guess. The juices and smoothies are not cheap and additions cost anywhere between $.50 — $ 1 more if you’re into chia seeds, protein, etc.
The service is decent. I ordered smoothies twice from here, and they used frozen fruits for the most part, probably for texture, but maybe they just don’t stock too much fresh stuff. Even the bananas were frozen.
Purée’s value is awful. They do serve decent juices and smoothies though.

I was bedridden all day yesterday & had to work this morning, so I decided to stop by Purée for a breakfast shake.
My friend recommended the Vanilla Bean & I had just that. Apparently there’s a national almond shortage, so Purée now uses fresh cashew milk to make their smoothies, as opposed to almond milk.
Positives:
The smoothie was very good, a nice blend of coconut and vanilla. The dates added a lightly sweet flavor.
The ingredients were fresh & the shake was very filling.
Negatives:

With seemingly endless student loan debt & early retirement goals, I don’t foresee myself becoming a Purée-​connoisseur. I just bought a Ninja blender system, so when I’m not able to make my own smoothies, I’ll definitely stop by again.

So I’m in the middle of a detox/​cleanse. I’ve done the Juice ‘Til Dinner with Purée for the past 6 days. The Juice ‘Til Dinner is reasonably priced and is a great start for anyone new to cleanses or wanting to ease into a longer cleanse. The only issue is because of the perishability of the juices you have to restock after 3 days to ensure maximum freshness.
For various reasons, I decided I NEEDED to start on a Saturday. I came to this conclusion on a Friday, late Friday. I called around and most places didn’t have enough stock on hand but Purée did. They were able to get me what I wanted and were even willing to make substitutions (Strawberry Lemonade is way better than Pom Lemonade).
The staff was friendly boxed everything up for me and even offered some advice. They offered a variety of cleanse packages and were helpful without being overly pushy.
When I needed to restock I called to make sure I could pick up early without any issues and I spoke with the manager/​owner. She was really nice and supportive. She even talked me down from eating half of McDonalds. When I arrived everything was labeled and ready to go as soon as I got there. All in all it was a good service experience.
So about the Purée’s juice. All of the juices come in high quality glass jars. The juices themselves are fresh and clearly labeled with the expiration date and ingredients. The juices are refreshing and have a great taste. The «mean» lemonades have a spicy kick but are not overly intense.
In total, Purée made the cleanse a lot smoother. Service was great, The juices were great, the prices were reasonable (Juice Bar reasonable). If I decide to do this again I will make sure to keep them in mind.

I tried this place on a walk through Bethesda with a hangover. It was pretty awesome. I got the Heirloom Shake with extra ginger and added some ice. It is pricey but I loved mine and want to try more combinations soon

I really liked this place! It is expensive. Would I go here every day? No. But did I enjoy my healthy lunch outing with a friend before getting my hair done? For sure. I had a ginger shot, vanilla cashew mylk, and I shared the pot brownies with my friend. She had the carrot cake smoothie and kale shot. Everything we got was fresh, delicious, and healthy. There aren’t a ton of vegan/​gf lunch places, so it was nice to have options somewhere. Two thumbs up! The staff was friendly and I would definitely go back.

I made myself do a week cleanse. Why? I have no idea. It was awful. The juice, juice bar and employees were not bad or close to awful at all, in fact they were super nice and pleasant as well as super helpful throughout the whole process. The cleanse itself was bad since all I wanted was FOOD. But that is what I SIGNED up for. Also, it was during this cleanse that I found out I was allergic to wheatgrass. So going forward, always make sure you aren’t allergic to something that costs so much. Anyways. I suffered through it since I hate wasting money.
The juice was yummy, I just wish I could have a full meal between each juice (Hahaha for real!). The whole process was a mental test and I did it 100% truthfully until the last night before bed I had rice instead of my almond juice.
I still come in here from time to time to purchase the juices that I love such as the Carrot juice, Green juice and my absolute favorite which is the almond milk. All very good. Just not as good as food tastes (to me at least).
They do say that «nothing tastes better than skinny feels.» …Well then juice is perfect for you.

I live in LA and spend ridiculous money at fancy boutiques but $ 10 – 12 for juice?
That’s just silly. $ 12 for a small bowl of white quinoa with shredded cabbage/​carrots? When there is a great salad place a block away, with seating.

I want to start off by saying thank you to everybody that gave this low starts and constructive criticism because I just stopped by and it was fantastic! So if there was something wrong with this place it is no longer an issue. Now into my juice
I got a mango tango smoothi/​purée, two juices, and two water elixirs. Total 36 which is much cheaper then I had expected seeing some prior reviews.
Anyways, taste, I live in downtown Bethesda and drinking home maybe take 3 – 5 minutes from here and my mango tango was almost done! It was so delicious! Naturally because that was so good I had to try my juice blends. I am sipping on the lemon aid and it is equally as good.
I am a little skeptical about the daily green juice I got but hey they are two for two right now so I wouldn’t care. If I wasn’t a broke college student with a pooch that fed better then most students I would come here everyday multiple times a day!

This place makes Starbucks look cheap. The juice sits in an open fridge. You’ll notice that the components of the juice have naturally separated. It’s unfortunate that the juices aren’t made to order. Because of this, I tried a smoothie. It was underwhelming and very expensive. Coconut shreds, almond milk, and dates shouldn’t cost $ 10. It was okay, but I can’t say I’d go back.

I’ve been known to crank up the Jack Lalanne juicer every now and then and toss in my fair share of veggies and fruits, in an attempt to get in my daily dose of good stuff. Hey, it’s better than V8! So upon my latest traipse up to Bethesda, when I walked by Purée Artisan Juice Bar (after a pitstop at Luke’s Lobster), I figured that some green goodness might be just the ticket to balance out the pile o’ lobster meat I was about to demolish.
It’s an interesting set up, with seats and a counter inside, but all of the actual juices are grab-​and-​go style in the fridge up front. If you want a smoothie/​shake, they’ll make it for you there though. The staff was super nice, sensing my new costumer-​ness as I look around with wide eyes, they explained everything to me and gave me some recommendations.
Since I’m kind of on a sugar detox right now (which I don’t actually like saying aloud because it makes me sound kind of douchey, but I am cutting down on my sugar right now so it’s also the truth, hahaha), I opted for the Green Goddess Juice, which is spinach, romaine, kale, cucumber, and celery. Yep, all veggies, all the time! The manager said it was one of their most popular.
So the juice tasted like, well, green juice. There’s no fruit in it so it’s totally unsweet, and it basically tastes like cucumber water with a lot more GREEN in it. It wasn’t bad, but it was a LOT to take down at once (I used a straw), so just FYI.
The juice was definitely fresh, and I loved the packaging of the glass bottle (SO bummed I left it somewhere, I meant to take it home and reuse it!), but mannn, the price of these juices be STEEP. My Green Goddess juice set me back over $ 10 for a single juice. I’m pretty sure I could buy all of the individual ingredients for the juice for less than that, and then make like an entire pitcher’s worth out of all that produce. I love supporting local businesses, especially ones that are so health-​minded, but daaaaang. I guess it must be in a good spot in Bethesda but it’s just a little too rich for my blood.

The only good thing I like about Purée is it’s cute glass bottles. Aside from that, we did not have a very good experience picking up our goods or tasting them.
We were looking for a post-​Thanksgiving cleanse and the lady helping us didn’t really know much about the differences between each cleanse set. She just repeated the names and types of corresponding juices, which wasn’t helpful since there were so many with no descriptions of what is contained in each or why each cleanse is made the way it is. She then asked me for my contact info for when to pickup the cleanse, but I wanted to walk out of the store immediately. She walked over to grab bottles on the stands and had to keep referring to the sheet to compile the boxes.
Then, she grabbed her co-​worker who gave us 2 desserts and a salad without explanation. Something’s not right there. If I’m paying so much for a cleanse that tells me I’m getting an entrée, salad or dessert, I don’t want to be gipped items, and on top of that be forced to SHARE a salad with the second set. A drink was substituted since it was sold out — that’s fine, but again, no explanation as to why that substitute was picked.
We tried the juices and they were all eh. The lemon aid had an overdose of cayenne… you only need a little hint of spice, not a heaping of it to burn. Other than that, it was OK. The other juices were horribly balanced. It seems like there was no care about the ratio of the ingredients going in there. Sweet and muted… think of a lychee juice, without the fragrance. Like… liquid syrup, almost. We didn’t finish a few bottles. I can just juice random greens together at home too. I’ve paid for an expensive cleanse before – and it was worth every penny, balanced with just the right amount of carrots to beets to apples etc. This, was not. This was a juiced mishmash. The desserts were disappointing, and the consistency seemed old. Alfalfa salad was not bad.
Maybe the fresh made juices that you order are better, but for the juice cleansing set: not worth it.

the wheat grass shots are $ 4.00/shot and comes with orange slices as chasers. The shots were sweet and not bitter at all. Minimalist interior. Friendly and knowledgable staffs. Also a bit pricey but you get what you pay for.

This was my first time at a vegan and organic juice bar. I stopped by here out of purely out of curiosity.
My mom and I entered the small store, and we were immediately greeted by two nice gentleman. The first thing I noticed about Purée is that their customer service is superb.
One of the guys asked if I had been there before. Once I told him that I had not, and that I was unfamiliar with their menu, he made a few suggestions. He also pointed me to a huge chalkboard on their wall that listed their specials. One of the specials that day was the Mango Tango, which he recommended. I told him that I liked sweet drinks, so he recommended that I add berries as well, which I did.
The Mango Tango included: mango, banana, spinach, coconut water, almond milk, and cayenne pepper.
I really liked that you can watch the staff blend the fruit and other ingredients right in front of you. The juice was SO GOOD that after tasting mine, my mom decided to order her own.
The only downside is that the prices are a bit unreasonable. My drink (although delicious) cost $ 10.

This is my first time at an organic vegan juice bar. I didn’t know what to expect so I bought a Green Goddess juice (pre-​made), made of spinach, romaine, kale, cucumber, celery. This one is for cleansing and detoxing. When I first drank it, I felt like I wanted to throw up. It was not terrible, but a little weird tasting. I guess I was not ready for this healthy, pure veggie drink. hahaha
I also ordered Coconut Cream. This one is for dehydration and is made mainly of blended coconut water and meat. This one is really good and refreshing for a hot day, especially after working out! I will definitely order this one again.
The juice bar itself is pretty cute. While I was there, they were bringing in fresh grass to put the bar. It can be pretty pricey. It’s around $ 9 – 10 each for a 16 oz. drink, but the ingredients are all vegan and organic. Additional cost if you want to add anything. I will go back to check out their other items.

Purée is the real deal. Juice bars in Montgomery County are hard to find and Purée has nailed it. My first experience was awesome and I’ll be back. I just finished a 15 day juice/​raw foods cleanse so I’m happy that Purée opened its doors; it’s nice to have healthier options in Bethesda.
Here’s the gist & a few tips:
— Eco-​friendly & family owned small business that supports local farmers & uses 100% organic produce.
— The owner is really cool & down to earth; she leads by example & is a true inspiration (ask for Amy & she’ll be happy to orient you.)
— Juices are made daily and stored in thick glass containers to retain freshness; way healthier & tastier than Odwalla & Naked juices that you’d find in Whole Foods.
–Try the «Easy Green» juice… it’s refreshing and slightly sweet
–Ask questions when you stop in for the 1^st time… For example, I juice daily and I’d never heard of the method in which they extract their juice; the staff was more than happy to answer all of my questions and explain their menu options.
I can’t believe that someone would suggest that Starbucks or Smoothie King is a better option… obviously this person doesn’t understand the concept or benefits of fresh juice. Those chain places are no comparison to Purée. There is a difference between pasteurized & fresh juice.
I can tell you that after my recent 15 day juice cleanse, I felt much better. For those that don’t want the fuss of juicing on their own, Purée is an excellent option :-)
