Extra Space Storage

The climate controlled storage area does get warm and humid in the summer (but not as bad as it is outside). Just be wary. Also the elevator isn’t flush on the second floor, so you’ll have to jump your cart off the elevator a bit. Other than that the storage unit and building is fine and well maintained. There are always carts available to use as well. The gate code also didn’t work for me the first time (like the other reviewer) but did every time after that.
Also they charge $ 10 for you to use their insurance. You can use your own (through renter’s insurance, for example) but the process to do so is ridiculous. I had my insurance company send them an e-​mail twice, I sent it once myself, called to double check, went into the office to triple check, and they still charged me for using their insurance. So don’t assume they got it and definitely check your bill every month; it’s easy to overlook.

No strong feelings either way yet. I don’t like that i can’t access my stuff ²⁴⁄₇ but they were pretty easy to work with in the office. We got a big drive-​up unit so that made moving pretty easy, but i feel like they price gauge a little in terms of buying boxes/​packing materials/​i feel like they could lower their monthly rates a little.

Great location, clean units, and professional staff all the way

This place went above and beyond to help me with my storage needs. The customer service was fantastic. I needed a place to store my antique car and I was helped by multiple employees throughout the process. Coming here exceeded my expectations and I will not go anywere else on River Road for my storage needs.

This place is the worst. The customer service is atrocious and they do not have their sh! t together. We went in here with a reservation and waited 15 minutes while the guy figured out what he needed to do. Then he showed us a unit that was around the back, couldn’t find the unit then when we got there he didn’t have the keys. So he had to walk all the way back to get the keys. Then we had to go back to the office and waited for the guy to fumble around even more. During this time he asked to see our drivers license 3 different times and the he couldn’t find the drivers liscence number on my DC liscence. This job was just too complex for this guy
While this was happening some woman came in inquiring about the prices of a 5×10 unit — the same size unit as ours. Her quote was $ 30 more a month than ours. Then after about 40 minutes of all of this administrative bs we finally got a code for the units. We drove our car around and typed in the code. *ACCESS DENIED*. This happened three times. So we went back inside to talk to our helpful associate who then checked the code. Then we tried again. *ACCESS DENIED*. So then we went back again and this time the associate came out and typed the same code in that didn’t work. Finally we were allowed in and able to load our stuff in after over an hour and a half. Too bad they took our money at the beginning.

You can not go wrong with these guys. I have been renting multiple units from them for the past few years and have never had any issues.
You have many storage choices on River road. It seems like every other building is a different storage facility. But extra space goes above and beyon the rest by offering a clean, safe place to store all of the crap you can not stand to part with just yet.
Sampson, the property manager, is great, and will make sure that you have everything you need. The rest of his staff are just as friendly and will always stop by and say hi when you are on the grounds.
