DSharpe Style

I went to Sunny at DSharpe for a Brazilian Blowout about three weeks ago and I had a fantastic experience! The salon had a great atmosphere and was decorated with a very sophisticated and cute style. I have long, thick, curly hair and the treatment worked great on my hair. It dries very quickly after I shower, and I don’t have to do anything to it in the mornings if I don’t want to. It naturally dries curly, but definitely less curly than before and with NO frizz. If I want to blow dry my hair straight, it only takes me ten minutes. I can wear my hair down which I could never do before. Sunny was very nice, friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend going to her for any type of hair treatment, especially the Brazilian Blowout.

I want to echo Morgan S. I had a Living Social deal for a Brazilian Blowout with Sunny yesterday. It was only my second such treatment ever and Sunny asked me all about what I wanted out of it and what length would work (added a haircut on) before we began. I have a lot of hair but Sunny was incredibly patient and kept up a great conversation with me throughout the process. I really liked her, the vibe of the place (Denise was also around, working on her own clients), and of course, the final result. I’ll be going back to her for as long as I’m in DC – don’t let the distance from downtown scare you, the salon is very convenient to the Metro red line. Thanks Sunny!

My hair and I have been in battle for what feels like as long as the Hatfields and the McCoys so I am always thrilled when someone can help me feel like I am actually winning this battle.
I tried this salon with a Living Social yesterday and saw Sunny for a Brazilian Blowout. I liked her and the salon immediately. Both were very warm and inviting and the whole experience was intimate and cozy. The purple walls are awesome and give a very artistic and calming feel to the place. I even talked to the other people having their hair done so it was a very social and fun experience.
Sunny asked me questions about how I would like my hair to look before we started and I am really happy with the result. It is soft, smooth, manageable and looks quite frankly. like someone else’s hair.
Of course, the highlight was wearing the cool hot pink glasses with the eyelashes so I have posted a photo in my review.
Overall, I would drive to Bethesda (from Reston) again to get my hair done here and given how much I hate commuting that says a lot! Thank you to the whole staff for a great day and great hair. :)

Been going to Denise for men’s cut and color for years now. She has always been very accommodating, professional, and fun, with excellent cuts and service.

Sunny did my makeup on my birthday, and she just did such an amazing job!!! I’ve gotten my makeup done before and was so shocked by way too much makeup and an image in the mirror that looked nothing like me. Sunny gave me a gorgeous smoky eye and a very polished look. She gave me an amped up version of myself. Love, love, love!

I simply love the way that Sunny and Denise handled their clients. I had my hair cut by Sunny this evening. She not only explained everything in the process (I actually donated my hair and this place did everything for free) but actually taught me some tips and techniques. I certainly would recommend this place.

Denise is WONDERFUL. 5 stars for her, (4 for the price haha, but it is definitely worth it). She is very sweet and will help you figure out where to go with your hair! I would absolutely recommend her to anyone, especially those with long hair. She is the most talented hairdresser I’ve ever met. She also did an incredible updo for my wedding and for all my bridesmaids too — if you need wedding hair she is a total pro and helped make the day perfect. Love going to see her (and Sunny!) whenever I’m in DC!

One more year with my favorite Hairstylist Denise is amazing and she continues wowing people as they find her… she is a Gem, so much knowledge and soooo kind… she is a great colorist and she has continued her education thru this time, I have seen her leaving many times to continue her journey as a better hairstylist always investing in her self… witch in turn we rip the benefits of her achievements … there is no way I would leave her…

Just got my second haircut here from Sunny. Can’t recommend her highly enough. After moving down to DC and going through a succession of bad haircuts at various places in the area, my girlfriend demanded I spend the extra money and go to someone with talent. Sunny is a great stylist, and a cool person to talk to during. And the results are girlfriend-​approved.

Denise sharpe is a miracle worker and she won’t quit til she’s worked her magic on you! Her sense of color and style is the best in the business. I don’t get in often enough but that’s partly because her cuts last and last. You can probably find a million salons that send you home with great hair for a day. When Denise styles your hair it lasts. She is also a really great person. Her salon is warm and welcoming. Denise will work with you and your unique hair and lifestyle. She will help you be the best you possible.

My second visit was even better than the first. A high quality haircut, good conversation, and left happier than I arrived. A true gem in this area! Denise is the best there is in this area! She earned a regular customer and I don’t see anything changing for the future. If you are looking for a good stylist, look no further. And for the men out there, it’s worth the extra money since five barber’s could not even come close to Denise’s expertise.

I ADORE Denise and Sunny! I lovingly joke that Denise is one of the longest relationships that I’ve had over the past 18+ years. I’ve followed her to different salons over the area to ensure the best haircut for my sometimes-​straight-​sometimes-​curly-​ever-​changing hair. I trust her completely to try new techniques to tame my mane and make it awesome.
As I was confirming my wedding date for June 2012, I was also checking in with Denise to ensure that she and her colleagues were available to complete my special day. I couldn’t imagine someone better to pamper, beautify, laugh with, and calm my nerves on my wedding day. She and her team did my hair and makeup, my mother’s hair and makeup, and my bridesmaids’ hair. She was fantastic about the hair and makeup trials leading up to the wedding as we kept tweaking ideas and some of my hair accessories to make sure it was exactly what I wanted and what would look best in real life and photos. Everything was perfect when we were prepping and Denise encouraged us to have a mini-​party as we were primping and our photographer was shooting away during the morning festivities. I’m only a little sad that we were in her smaller studio on the lower level at the time, rather than the much more palatial and impeccably decorated studio on the top floor where she currently is located. My hair held up beautifully throughout the day, even with lots of singing and dancing throughout the day and evening.
Additionally, Denise has also gotten to know my family over the years. She’s been cutting my mom’s hair for over 15 years and even cut my grandmother’s hair years ago when my dad didn’t know where else to take her. Denise was so gracious in welcoming her to her studio, even though my grandmother looked a bit out of place at this former salon with the young clientele and techno music playing! Her background music has changed, but she is still as inviting and friendly, as ever.
I have highly recommended her to friends over the years for haircuts, color, styling advice, and special events and will continue to do so; she is well-​worth it! Several years ago, I tried the blow out and it was really amazing. I may try it again to shave some time getting ready in the morning with a toddler running around the house at the same time. I haven’t tried the other services they currently offer, but I’m sure they are great, too. Denise is a true professional and it has been awesome to see how she continues to learn to techniques to challenge herself, perfect her artistry, and surround herself with professional and talented colleagues.
As a side note, even though it’s Bethesda, there are some good parking options – especially in the Waverly Garage, which is free on the weekends, too. Her studio is also steps away from the Bethesda Metro elevator.

We asked Denise and her talented team to be the hairstylists for our wedding, and we could not have been happier! Denise was so kind, professional, and talented. I felt so comfortable with her during my hair trial, and on the wedding day her and her team did an amazing job! She was so thoughtful about which stylist would work on each person’s hair based on length, type, etc., and each of them looked stunning. She and her team were so diligent about my hair, always checking in during the process to make sure I liked how it looked. Our whole wedding party received so many compliments on our hair! I am so glad I asked Denise & team to be a part of our wedding day!

I always leave happy. Denise and Sunny do a great job! Denise is a seasoned hairstylist who stays current on new techniques and trends. She is a true artist! She listens to the client’s needs and always delivers. Denise and Sunny create a relaxing spa like atmosphere with a personalized service that will make you feel like a queen for a day. Denise has cut, styled and colored my hair, Sunny has also done color for me. I have always been very pleased! Cut and/​or color — you’ll leave smiling ear to ear.

Words can not describe how thankful I am to have found Denise and her wonderful staff. My son was getting married in Bethesda. I am from Michigan and wanted to do a hair/​makeup brunch party with my girlfriends the day of the wedding. After trying 3 salons there was no question who I wanted to use. Not only did Denise, Sunny and her staff excel at what they did, they went out of their way to make the bunch/​day very special. on the Sunday before Labor Day no less. Denise is absolutely amazing and very very skilled. I feel so lucky to have found her!

Everything about my experience with Denise feels… sparkly! She sparkles. Her 1.5y old salon (upstairs at Lux) sparkles with glitter and butterflies. She makes her guests feel sparkly. And my straightened hair is fabulous. She used to use Coppola Keratin, but with a change in formula she switched to Brazilian Blow Out. (She explained the products and reason for switch — she knows her brands and products — total expert and I trust her completely.) I had the last appointment of the evening — my own personal salon. And it was total delight! My 3^rd or 4^th time getting straightened — love the result and such a pleasure to spend an evening talking and laughing and being pampered (and TAUGHT) by Denise. Products, brushes, techniques — she takes her time and teaches — such a value add for her guests. I’m a Jewish girl from Bethesda — we take our hair straightening VERY seriously — and Denise gets five stars and an A+.

Been going to Denise for years & years… She is a wizard with hair color and is great with the cuts. She keeps up with the latest products and trends but doesn’t do styles you are not comfortable with.
She also has been a mentor to a number of stylists over the years — which I think is awesome.

Denise is a pro. I showed her 3 photos of what I liked and she gave me a really good haircut. I am very pleased.

I had no idea what I was missing out on, until I came to Denise.
I’m just a guy who shaved my head for over 15 years because that was just my look. Whenever it would start to grow and go through the awkward stages, I would just shave it again. When I finally decided to really start growing it out, I had no idea what to do. Denise helped create my new stlye/​look, and now for the first time since grade school, I actually like having hair.
I had no idea that getting a haircut is actually an «experience». Denise and her staff are beyond friendly and professional, and create a warm and relaxing environment. There’s nothing like the head massage and Poo Sham (or Shampoo if you want to say it correctly), to get things started!

Denise came highly recommended by two of my friends.
I saw her for the first time around the beginning of the year. I’d been a student for a long time and needed to change my look to re enter the workforce after graduation in May. I figured I’d give her a few months to get it right.
She had me come in for a free consult first. I then booked an appointment after I figured she knew what she was doing and what I wanted.
We also worked on a way for me to have less grey, but enough that it looks natural.
Denise was able to make my curly hair look professional. My color looks good and recently she taught be how to blow it out straight.
Worth every penny!
