Docs Locksmith

Awesome experience! I thought my (very expensive) file cabinet lock was broken and I called Docs. He talked me through what to do — spray WD-​40 — and five minutes later it was as good as new. They have gained a loyal customer for life!

I called and Doc walked me through how to (easily) repair my lock myself. He was willing to come and fix it, but he said it was a simple fix and spent 15 minutes with me on the phone while I repaired the lock. No charge for great advice and his time. He knows his stuff and is refreshingly generous with his time.

This is just a quick review to say how great Doc is. In short, he looked at the trouble we were having with our front door locks, figured a solution that didn’t involve a massive change (but did involve his going out and finding a hard-​to-​find part, which he was happy to do). And he charged a very reasonable amount in light of the time he put in. It was exactly the right solution. I’d call him again in an instant for other jobs.

Doc came within 20 min of my call that my key would not unlock my front door. He worked hard to minimize damage to defective lock and replaced mechanism and matched to existing key. All for a very reasonable fee. Was very pleased.

Doc really saved us in a pinch, and I cannot recommend him enough!
I came home one day to find that the lock on our house was no longer working. A quick Unilocal search led me to Doc, and within 20 minutes of my phone call he came out in pouring rain well after business hours. Our puppy was locked inside, so we were anxious to get in!
He immediately recognized the problem: the locks on our house had only been offered for sale for a short time and were later recalled for their propensity to fail. That is exactly what happened to us. He expertly removed the failed locks and later installed new deadbolts and locking knobs.
On top of being really skilled at what he does and dedicated to the needs of his clients, Doc is also just a really nice guy. He will continue to be my go-​to source for all things related to locks.

My wife and kids got locked out of the house in the evening today and after trying different possibilities, I (who was still in office) looked up Unilocal to find locksmiths to help her out. I called Doc and explained the situation and he agreed to come over to the house and help get them in. It was around 5pm. He came within 15 min and got them in within 5 min by dismantling the lock and then putting it back together so that no replacement was needed. He charged $ 95, which we thought was very reasonable for an emergency home visit like this in the evening. All in all really impressed with his service and so decided to post this review the same day!

So my sister needed to get stuff out of storage, but she left the key to the padlock in another state. She called a locksmith to get the lock open.
At first, she didn’t call Doc. She called one of those call centers that, in my opinion, are super sketchy. Just google «locksmith» «call center» and «organized crime» and you’ll see what I mean if you don’t already know.
She then cancelled that locksmith, went on Unilocal,and found doc.
Doc met us at the storage unit right on time. For a lesser locksmith, I think this job would have been way more difficult. There were no electrical outlets so Doc couldn’t use his dremel — he had to go about it the old fashion way.
He chatted with us for about two minutes and, like magic, it was done!
Super nice guy, charged a totally reasonable (if not pretty cheap) rate, and got the job done fast.

I found myself locked out with 2 little ones in the rain because our old lock failed, the tumbler turned and would not let go of the key and would not open. I called «Doc» who said he was within 20 min. from our house and would be right over. He fixed the lock quickly and professionally, with a wonderful sense of joy to his work that made the experience wonderful. I highly recommend him.

Doc is extremely professional, nice and trustworthy. All the qualities you want in a locksmith. I had used him before when we were living at a condo in N. Bethesda and called on him again to re-​key for our new house. He came quickly, on the same day, and was able to do everything for cheaper than a local guy had quoted.
I originally called someone closer to home because I couldn’t remember Doc’s info. Luckily, as fate would have it, I remembered Doc’s name after the local locksmith totally creeped me out!
He’s very cost effective and is willing to work with you to give you the best deal for what you need. He isn’t afraid to recommend something that you didn’t think of.
Easy going, responsive, and a very personable guy. Doc’s number is in my phone now, hope he stays in business forever!
