I have shopped at Big Y since it opened here but was saddened today to learn that they permit open carry in their stores(and, yes, I got this information from the store directly). While open carry is legal in CT, private businesses can decide not to allow guns in their stores. Big Y does not yet have such a policy. So that you are aware, Costco, Starbucks, Price Rite, Whole Foods, and Target have policies that do not permit guns in their stores.

I’ll let you know what the cake tastes like tomorrow. The cake was good despite the decorations on the top.

Ok… I have to say, I absolutely love this store and I shop here all the time. However, today I tried the fish and chips they sell in the fish department dubbed, «The Best FIsh and Chips in New England». These people MUST be joking. The most disgusting fish sandwich I have ever eaten in my life! Soggy fish on a hamburger bun with the soggiest and most tasteless fries I have ever been served. I will never eat this again… absolutely disgusting.

Your pizza shop never picks up the phone. I have to call the service desk to walk over there to get them to pick up. Then it’s a 45 minute wait for the pizza. Lets figure this out-On Friday nights you need more employees working there. I think they figure if they don’t pick up the phone they can just hang out and not work. You need to go to Shop Rite university and learn customer service.

I love Big Y. First, they are American Owned and that means a lot. Second, they have a huge variety of fresh produce, cheeses, meats, etc. Their bakery is good(and we love the Ponzcki in february!) The BOGO sales are good – the Buy One Get 2 are even better! I like the Butcher shop as well. This is my favorite local Grocery Store.

My favorite grocery store. Not as busy as others and good parking lot.
