Bad-period. Staff appeared frantic. We actually thought about leaving after our drinks were delivered cause 15 min went by and no one had taken our order. I ordered the famous Stromboli and my husband a horseshoe. We waited forever. Numerous tables were looking around, waiting also. I watched several servers take plates back because they were wrong. When we finally got our meal it was warm at best. I desperately wanted to send it back but saved my husband the embarrassment. You would have thought that our waitress would have at least asked it everything was OK, being I had barely touched my dish – Nope. We paid, left and never to return. I don’t know if we ordered the wrong thing or went on the wrong day with all the positive reviews but I would NEVER recommend this place. Outside of our food experience, it’s cramped and very cold.

I’ve ate here many times. Service always fast & friendly. I’d recommend the chicken strip meal, BEST honey mustard. Accept credit cards. Very reasonable. You get a lot food for your money. Recommend.

Geno’s is a Bethalto favorite. They have a good variety of food on the menu… something for everyone. They have the BEST homemade chicken strips, sure to please kids and adults alike. They come with a yummy honey mustard sauce and fries. The salads are DELICIOUS! They make their own Caesar dressing which you can have with Romaine or the Iceberg lettuce. But the best part about 140 is their steaks. Cooked perfectly and so savory. We eat at Geno’s about once a week and love it! I highly suggest it if you’re passing through or looking for something new. P. S. I see some people have complained about seating. We have found if we sit in the bar area, there is usually no waiting, and it’s not much different from the rest of the restaurant. We actually like it better because it has low lighting and TVs. P. P. S. Also, their signature dish is the Stromboli. It’s a type of pizza rolled up in bread. If you’re craving pizza, it’s definitely worth a try.

Great service, great food, reasonable prices. The stars of Genos are the«bus» staff! Fast delivery of menus, utensils, drinks, and clean up.

We have been coming here for years And keep coming back. The family loves the new pepper loin sandwich. I love the Caesar salad and order the chicken tenders grilled not fried. They are always so juicy and moist. Our last visit over the weekend I just wanted an appetizer and ordered breaded hot wings. I had never had them here. They were awesome. We had a friend with us who had never been and ordered chicken tenders fried. He loved them. Our waitress was super pleasant and we enjoyed the patio. Don’t hesitate to eat here.

As we walked in, it looked as if the numerous staff members were stressed. We stood next to the«wait to be seated» sign for an uncomfortably long time without being greeted. After being seated, we promptly placed our beverage order. I observed my beer sit in the pass through window for way longer than it should have. We chose the catfish fritter special to make things easy. Food arrived fairly quickly. The catfish was bland and soft… not crispy or even a golden brown like you expect with fried catfish. I left underwhelmed.

Food was excellent, service was great, nice friendly atmosphere. The Old lady and I were out riding to a farm for eggs 140 and 4. Was looking for Weezys, but stumbled on this place. Love those walked in finds. Good specials. Meatloaf and twice battered Chicken breast with mashed potatoes and corn, cup of Cracked Red pepper Gouda cheese soup … Delicious!!! Great price, all under $ 20.00 with a cup of Joe!!! Next time will try Weezy’s, but this is definitely on our list of to go backs…

I completely agree with Natalie. The lady she is speaking of is NOT very pleasant. Im sure she is just there because of how long she is there. GETTHIS though, I heard if you call in & order food to go that they charge you for to carry out! When I asked the not so pleasant older woman if this was true when I picked up my order she said«oh yeah, these containers are like 10cents each– the charge was more like .60 so I am sure I was charged for the utensil packet & plastic ranch cup too in reality. I said I have never heard of that. Her response was«well I don’t know if anyone else does it or not» with a rude tone. I said to her I can assure you nobody else does. The buffalo bites are already almost $ 8 and you get nothing with it. I asked for a pickle on the side & of course that was going to be extra so I just said forget it. Food is decent, have only had salad, wings & buffalo bites. Wings & bites are great. However, for what you get it is still pretty pricey in my opinion. At least throw in a pickle with those wings & bites.

I don’t know how I keep getting the same waitress every single time I go in here, but she is really the reason I’m giving 2⁄5 stars for this place. The old woman just needs to retire. I won’t name names, because I’m not here to bash Geno’s. I do think if the other waitresses could take her aside and inform her that poor service, as well as snotty attitudes towards customers is reflective in tips. The food is always very tasty, but my God, seriously every time I end up with her. Hopefully soon I’ll get a waitress that isn’t hateful and I can then increase my rating here.

Went here with some area friends. Tried the«Horseshoe» which was fantastic! Everything was very good, but don’t forget your appetite as the portions are rather large. Good atmosphere and the service was fast and polite! We will return!

Great selection for such a small place. Be sure and go on a Thursday for their Chicken fried chicken special. Hand breaded chicken breast, real mashed potatoes and sweet buttered corn. Good home cooking.

My husband and I went to Geno’s for lunch today and had the worst service we have ever had in any restaurant. We sat down and a guy brought our silverware and got our drinks for us. There were three other tables with people at them in there. When the waitress came, we had to ask her for menus. I then ordered a breaded pork tenderloin sandwich with homemade chips and a side salad. My husband ordered a burger and fries. The salad never came. When she brought our meals, my husband asked her to take it off the bill, which she did. She noticed his beer was empty and asked if he wanted another. He said yes. She never checked on us while we were eating and his beer came after he was done. His burger was good. My tenderloin tasted weird… I can’t even explain it. Won’t be back anytime soon.

Pepper loin ranks right up there with Tony’s. No complaints on food or portion sizes! Great family place to eat! I would say my only complaint here is the confusion when we walk in, if we seat ourselves or wait. I think the regulars know, but for us that only come a couple times a year, I’m confused! It won’t stop me from coming back though!!!

The biggest embarrassment of a $ 20 steak that I’ve ever seen. It was cooked to temp, but NO seasoning, thrown on a bare plate. Zero effort whatsoever.

As I’ve oft said; «I can only speak about my own experiences…» meaning — my review may be contrary to others but it my visit that I’m writing about and I won’t be influenced by other reviews. First off, I’ll state that I’ve eaten here a half dozen times in the past and was never impressed. At one time they had won an award for the best burger in the Alton area and I went there just for that and was underwhelmed. Previous unmemorable visits were with elderly family members who had a fondness for this place. But I never Unilocaled after those visits. So…the specifics of this review(based on my most recent visit only) are as follows: Great service from a very polite and energetic young man who kept our drinks filled ‘ere they were half empty. He recommended the special(it was a Tuesday) which was all you can eat pasta. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs knowing that I wouldn’t eat more than one plate but the price was good. Pasta was cooked perfectly, sauce was tasty, meatballs were decent, salad was fresh, bread was OK. I’d probably give them 3 stars for food quality(although it was hot and fresh) but the exellent service and the value of the special brought it up to 4 stars. After reading previous reviews, I can only hope(for their sake!) that they can give every customer the experience they gave us.

.Stopped by on a recent trip to the area to visit an old friend and he took me to Geno’s. I had one of Geno’s monster ½ lb burgers and fries, washed down with killer ice-cold draft root beer in a frosted mug. Ok, it took 3 mugs to wash down the excellent food, but oh my, was it worth it. We went late at night, and the service was very prompt

Once a year I come here for fish on Friday, leave dissatisfied, and write it off for another year. The service kills this restaurant as it is painfully slow. We joke that their name is the 140 minutes you have to wait for your food. On a typical visit 90% of the patrons will be senior citizens, loyal customers for years, which may explain the servers lack of care and effort. The fish is tasty, with lots of choices for the sides, but the portions are odd. If you order the Alaskan white, you’ll get way too much; if you order the cod nuggets, you’ll get too few. Skip and come back in a year — maybe the staff will have retired and replaced by people who care.

HORRIBLE! I really dont understand why this place is always busy! Its outdated and the food is cheap and bland. Everytime i drive by, my car fills with this burnt vegetable oil smell. Its just a gross average place to eat. And its located in the weirdest spot. Also, service was just rude and not very welcoming.
