Total scam! Seriously. As a father of a girl who needed her high school her white formal dress cleaned, this place is outrageous. Because the dress was purchased as demo at a boutique, they called it a ‘wedding gown’. Tried to charge my wife $ 170 to clean it, even though it is not a wedding gown and never worn. Kept saying place of purchase decided price. Counter girl kept going in back to speak to the owner, but the owner never came out. Jerk! Kept trying to up sell a wedding gown box package for serious $$$, but my daughter needs this dress to wear. Said it would take 2 and ½ months, but then begrudgingly said could be done in a month. When my wife asked how much to clean her dress for the formal, it was only $ 30, because it was not a wedding gown, despite being more ornate.
After getting pissed, my wife left and called the bridal dress cleaning shop in Grosse Pointe. They said $ 30 and done in 2 weeks.
I don’t know what scam the wedding dress industry pulls on brides, but this is at the heart of the scam industry.
As an elite reviewer, I never rant. This place deserves a negative rant. I just wish I was there to tear the owner a fresh one in person. I may even go there to do so.
Terrible business so please avoid.

No doubt JDs is one of the priciest dry cleaners around but if you want something done right…
I can’t fathom the idea of dropping off my most expensive garments at a $ 2.29 cleaners in fear of them botching the job and ruining a piece of clothing I love. So for those special items that I plan on and want to last a lifetime, I bring them here every few months to freshen them up. It’s around $ 9 to clean a pair of slacks, yikes… but I’d rather be safe than sorry. That said, you likely won’t find someone doing a finer job.

I came here at the last minute with a terribly wrinkled flower girl dress and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I picked it up the next day and it was perfect. I rarely get things dry cleaned or pressed, but this is the place to go when I need it.

They are rude and expensive. I paid 129.00 at Davids when they start at 260.00.

Customer service is excellent. My shirts and pants always come out clean and renewed.
Their prices are typical of the industry.

I got a letter from Kyle Matthews («fanatical master cleaner at Janet Davis») saying «all I want to hear from you is… complaints» so hear goes. I have been going to Huntington and decided to try Janet Davis a try because its supposed to be the most high end cleaner in the area and I had a high end Givenchy dress shirt that I spilled a smoothie on. This was the first cleaning for the shirt and my first time trying Janet Davis.
First they forgot to deliver the shirt and I had to call in and ask what happened to my shirt and the lady apologized and delivered it the next day. Easily Forgiven.
However when I got the shirt back, the service might as well been the 1 $ dry cleaning down the street. While most of the stain was gone there was still a stain on shirt that they appeared to have missed. More so on the edges of the collar and sleeves, fading was occurring. I have given shirts countless times to huntington and fading has never occurred and after this shirts first clean, fading occurs? Doesnt make sense.
When you pay $ 10 to clean one shirt you expect better service and at least if they were having problems with a stain they should have made a note of informed me.
I am going to stick with huntington which is cheaper and does and infinitely better job… Hope you like my complaint Kyle.

These are my people. You get what you pay for. I don’t take everything here, just my precious babies that I don’t trust to anyone else. This dry cleaner is top notch. We live 20 minutes away and I will drive here just to hand them my special items. They will NOT disappoint–

Terribly overpriced. When I asked the manager to explain why a simple dress cost $ 20 to dry clean, she mumbled something about using «green» solvents and that they use new solvent on each item while other dry cleaners might clean 5 or 6 items before replacing the solvent. I’m sorry, but other dry cleaners I’ve used charge half that much for the dress and it was laundered just fine. Absolutely ridiculous pricing, this is not New York City. And of course prices are not readily advertised, so as a first time user you have no way of knowing you’re walking into this trap. STAY AWAY!

I have tried and will now STAY AWAY from Janet Davis cleaners. They destroyed the pearl buttons on two brand new shirts, replaced them with plastic and didn’t think they needed to tell me. They gave me a 30 dollar credit after I pointed out the problem. They are ridiculously expensive in my opinion.

Recently moved to Royal Oak and needed a dry cleaner. After a couple attempts at other cleaners, I settled on JD. Very happy that I did!
I haven’t been impressed with services I’ve used in the past, but this is the FIRST dry cleaner that I have been satisfied with quality of their laundering, especially of my white shirts.
Are they more expensive than others? Yes! But what good is paying $.99 per shirt for dry cleaning if you’re not happy? Paying for unsatisfactory service… now that’s a waste of money!

I recently started a new job that requires business attire every day, and as such, my dry-​cleaning needs suddenly went through the roof. I picked Janet Davis because they offered (and I think maybe still do) to clean business suits for free for people who are unemployed and have job interviews. My husband was in that position a few years back, and we really appreciated a company that gives back to the community. So it was off to Janet Davis I tripped a few weeks back, with two pairs of pants in tow; one for a simple cleaning and another that needed lengthening after someone did a hack job on hemming them (I got second-​hand designer pants at my SalArmy Boutique, of course).
They do offer a pick-​up/​delivery service, and I might take advantage of it if Janet Davis wasn’t on my way to work anyway. First thing in the morning, even during rush hour, parking is a breeze… I can’t say that about Saturdays, but I’ll get to that in a moment. I explained what I needed and was in and out in about three minutes. For standard cleaning it does take several days (this isn’t a quickie one-​hour place) so you have to pace your dry-​cleaning out accordingly.
When I picked up my pants, I was beyond pleased. Both pairs looked brand-​new, and the pair I’d had lengthened (with almost zero selvedge left to work with) was done beautifully. Yes, the pricing is a bit higher than you’ll pay at other dry cleaners or tailors, but for the convenience, quality, and friendly staff, I’m quite happy to pay it!
One word of caution… I won’t knock a star off since it isn’t their fault, but I’d advise against visiting on a Saturday. Westborn Market is right next door (they pretty much share a parking lot) and although Janet Davis does have spots strictly reserved for their patrons, you still have to back out into a row of hostile road-​raging Marketeers all fighting to get onto Woodward. Park in front (not on the side) to avoid that potential deathtrap.
Definitely two-​thumbs up and a hearty recommendation from me… especially after I got a postcard in the mail a couple of weeks later offering $ 10 off my next order if I completed a simple online survey. Yes and please, Janet Davis has a loyal customer in me!

I’ve been trying for over a week to have them clean 3 curtain panels. They have been unable to give me a price quote or tell me how long the cleaning will take. I was kept on hold for over 20 minutes today and still don’t have an answer. The manager seems to be perpetually at lunch or «too busy» to take my call or call back and the owner, who is actually there, will not take my call either. Instead, they have the counter staff or wedding coordinator tell me that they will get back to me later. I will be picking up my curtain panels and going somewhere else.

What a find! Their prices are incredibly competitive and my clothes and sheets are delivered in the manner that Fishburns of Dallas used to deliver my parents’ cleaning to our home in the 60’s — very carefully handled and service that you just don’t see anymore. My sheets were so soft and perfectly pressed. The first day I got my cleaning back, I got an email asking me how everything was and was there anything they could improve on. They deliver/​pick up twice weekly for free or less often, whatever you need. I’ve been looking for a place like this for years! Thank you Janet Davis Cleaners!

i was floored when i received a hand written thank you note thanking me for my patronage. The service is impeccable, as well as their dry cleaning. They were able to take out the mystery spots on all of my husband’s silk ties. They are more pricey then other dry cleaners in the area but well worth the cost. They have definitely have a repeat customer. :)

I found their service to be very poor and their pricing is far higher then everyone else on Woodward — you are better off heading next door to Clairmont.

Anything domestic I despise…(except making brownies), so of course you gotta love a Dry Cleaner that delivers your clothes and bills you monthly. I don’t use Janet Davis that much, in fact, it’s been a minute since I lived in Miami for two years, but the building never changed and the service (last time I checked) remains great. If you want to preserve a wedding gown or anything of value, I would definitely suggest entrusting them to clean it for you. They advertise greatly… and they are also fairly more expensive than your average dry cleaner.
