Specialties
The Bloomfield Suzuki School of Music provides students of all ages with a supportive, nurturing environment for learning stringed instruments (violin and cello) both with private lessons and also group instruction. Students as young as three years old can begin studying music and enjoy all the benefits that the Suzuki Method has to offer. We learn to play the same way that infants learn to speak — by listening and imitating. Many of the most accomplished players in orchestras across the globe started as young Suzuki students. Give us an email or a call to set up a time to come and observe a lesson and meet with a teacher.

My musical training began at a young age, though I myself was not a Suzuki student. I studied both cello and oboe at Michigan State University where my focus was on music education and performance. During my time at MSU, I saw the importance of early childhood education and eventually studied with one of the founders of the Suzuki Method in the United States. Upon completion of my degree, I taught orchestra in the public schools for six years during which time I completed my masters degree in orchestral conducting. While I thoroughly enjoy conducting large ensembles of older students, my real passion has always lied with getting young students started with a concrete technical foundation on stringed instruments. This firm base allows for advanced playing at a young age, eventually leading to virtuoso playing in later grades.
In my free time I enjoy playing cello in a trio and also woodworking.
