Gary is the best therapist I’ve ever seen; by a huge margin. I saw Gary regularly for several years, at least once a week. He helped me to work through some extremely troubling experiences from my childhood, as well as some very bad stuff that was happening at the time — including the heartbreaking lingering deaths from cancer of a younger sibling and a good friend. If I ever need mental health services again, Gary is the first person I will call.

Gary guided my husband and I through stormy waters of patenting out adolescent daughter so that we feel much more compassionate, aligned, and effective. He is smart and empathic with great perspectives and concrete advice.

Would repeat session conversations with no real progress. One time he was falling asleep.

I am a client of Gary Whitmer and am very happy to have had him recommended to me. Of all the therapists i’ve had, Gary has been the most helpful. He is gentle, caring, careful, respectful, and experienced. I feel safe when i am with him, That allows me to be open and honest. He is a lovely man who does not set his eyes on the clock, and always enables me to finish my thoughts. He’s always there for me. I always feel that I am getting something extra when i am with Gary. I highly recommend you look into working with Gary if you are considering a therapist. M

If you are seeking a caring individual, one who will truly listen to you and will remember you and all that you have said, who will synthesize what he hears and help you untangle what you are feeling, help you to know your true self, look no further. Gary is that person. Gary saved my life. Gary Whitmer is meticulously professional. His comfortable and clean office has been in the same location for years. He keeps a consistent schedule — rarely asking for a change. For non-judgmental, undramatic, solid thoughtfullness, you’ve got it with GW. AND Gary has a great sense of humor!

I used to see Gary at the Pleasanton office. We initially went there, me and my husband. My husband did not like his style at all and soon refused to continue seeing Gary. I on the other hand felt very comfortable with Gary and liked his style very much. He does not push, he let’s you reach the conclusions all by yourself. Maybe every now and then he will give a push into a direction. I thought that he was very professional, very comfortable to talk to and not biased(he is not on my side or against me, he is there to hold my hand until I find my way). One thing I did not like about Gary was his lack of organization in scheduling the appointments. Sometimes he’d double book and then have to cancel my or someone else’s appointment. Otherwise he is a great psychologist. I stopped seeing him, because my husband and I need to agree on one counselor to see together and unfortunately there is no convincing my husband to return to Gary.
