History
Established in 2006.
Malena and Clive had grown tired of metalsmithing and glass-fusing, and wanted to try something new. They stumbled upon artisanal chocolates and an obsession was born.
Fusing their creativity with passion for food and exotic travel, they learned to make chocolate with unusual flavors and forms.
Malena began teaching Fine Chocolate Tasting classes in 2007. Then she and Clive opened The Xocolate Bar in Berkeley in July 2008. For the love of chocolate, they venture onward.

Business Owner
Malena and her life partner, Clive, are artists-turned-chocolatiers. Malena briefly studied professional chocolate-making under master chocolatiers Terry Richardson and Thalia Hoenthal.
Fueled by a passion for food, art, and experimentation, both Clive and Malena are primarily self-taught. As avant-garde chocolatiers, they have developed unique and often daring recipes.
