Lauren is a waxing goddess! She’s SO quick and thorough, makes conversation the whole time so it’s super comfortable and you aren’t laying there in silence gripping the table in anticipation.

I found The Fix on Groupon and I’m so happy I did. Alex was amazing. I was late (so sorry Alex!) and she informed me that she could still take me, but advised me not to because she would need to rush being that she had another appointment right after me. I’m HUGE on customer service, and to me, the simple fact that she gave me the option was everything. She could have been offended or annoyed by my tardiness and turned me away, expressing how she felt about me being late. But she didn’t and gave me the option… I appreciated her for this. In addition, her energy is very calm and positive… very comforting. Specifically with Brazilian waxing, I think comfort is a big deal (I feel the same about any business in the nether regions, if you know what I mean). When I was leaving, as a result of our very comforting, positive and somewhat personal conversation, Alex gave me a healing stone that I believe her mother educated her on. I think I found a new home! I cant wait to try sugaring… Hope this helps someone looking to try The Fix out.

In my almost seemingly never-​ending quest to find the perfect waxing studio in the bay area, I think I have found it, or at least a great option. While I’ve had some great experiences elsewhere, the locations haven’t been the most ideal for my carless, public-​transportation-​reliant self. The Fix, however, is located right on Adeline along the AC Transit F bus line.
I found The Fix on Groupon and made an appointment with Lauren. The website looked great and the reviews on both Groupon and Unilocal made me feel like I was making a great choice and I was not disappointed!
The studio itself is really cute and comfortable. Once inside, it feels kind of like you’re over at a girlfriend’s loft who just happens to do spa stuff like waxes. It’s super clean and the high ceilings and natural light are great.
Lauren lets you take your time getting ready for the wax but when she gets to work, she works quickly. It’s kind of funny, the contrast between how quickly she works and how softly and calmly she speaks. Chatting with her was really relaxing.
One thing I really like about The Fix is the possibility of buying packages or bundles of waxes to save money. Waxing can get really expensive to maintain and when you’re on a budget like I’ve been, it’s one of the first things to fall off the to-​do list. Or, you end up going to Groupon and jumping from salon to salon which, as someone who saw the same aesthetician for almost 7 years in San Diego, isn’t ideal in the slightest. The bundling of waxes is a big reason I’ll be returning to The Fix for my waxing!
One thing I will remember is to wait a little longer to let the numbing spray (YES a place that has numbing spray!!!) take effect — the wax still hurt but then I spent the bus ride to work very numb.

This is a review for Alex. I made a last minute sugaring appointment last week, and I must say she is truly amazing aesthetician /​waxer. Two weeks before I saw Alex, I got a bikini wax from EWC. Although I frequently got services from them because it was convenient and affordable, each service seem hit or miss with results. The one I got two weeks before seeing Alex was quite miss since I got so many ingrown hairs and so irritated skin after that I could barely walk. I knew two weeks would be too short to get rewaxed, but I had a vacation coming up that following weekend and wanted to be bikini ready. I read that sugaring works with shorter hair so I booked it with Alex based on amazing Unilocal reviews and convenient location near where I live.
Service: She was so attentive. Knowing that it was my first sugaring appointment, she made sure to use both sugaring and also used hard wax for areas that sugaring will be too painful/​help me transition into sugaring with ease. Although some waxers would reject me for having too short hairs for waxing, Alex made sure to spend enough time using tweezer so that I could be ready for my vacation.
Atmosphere: The salon is so cute and chic. Just walking into the place made me feel pampered. The waxing room was nice and cozy (loved the dim light — soothing and relaxing), the waxing bed was so comfy and soft unlike some other waxing places that looks more like doctors office. She even turned on a fan for me since waxing always cause me to have nervous sweating. Lol
Result: after one week of getting service, I had ZERO ingrown hair. I has to do with how skilled Alex was at waxing/​sugaring.
Verdict: I am fully converted, I will be Alex’s customer for life lol No more franchise waxing places where they blame you for getting ingrown hairs because you don’t use their magical serum.

Excellent! Alex is a lovely and charming woman and always a pleasure to see. She’s very patient with my squirms and squeals when she waxes but still somehow manages to work quickly and efficiently. It’s always such a welcome surprise when she says that there is just one or two more pulls to go and then she’s done.
The space is beautiful and very well decorated. Parking is fairly plentiful unless it is Tuesday afternoon (farmer’s market).

A protégé of Lilly from Rockridge Day Spa! I have been searching for Lilly’s equal since she moved back to Mongolia. I finally found her. So happy, I have my new place and I’m never turning back :)

Sadly my newer review has a few less stars. They seemed unpleased that I was using a Unilocal deal (I used groupon last time), but hey! I’m poor! I waited a while for the customer before me who was taking forever to get dressed and leave (about 20 minutes into my appointment). Lauren apologize profusely but then proceeded to give me a very painful wax with cloth strips instead of the efficient one with hard wax she had given me previously. It seemed to break my hairs because the very next day they were growing in stubbly. I’m disappointed and not sure I’d pay the $ 65 + tip for another full brazilian there.

I found The Fix on Groupon. They were offering a Brazilian Wax for $ 33 (Originally Price: $ 65). I thought it was a great deal, and all the reviews on Unilocal were phenomenal so I tried it out. They did not disappoint!
It was my first time, so I personally have no other comparisons to make, but I can say they were definitely accommodating. Alex took really good care of me! Knowing it was my first time, she asked if I could come earlier in case I had any questions. Unfortunately I couldn’t, but she made it work!
How it works:
— They’ll give you wipes and an anesthetic spray to prep you. Lie down and let the spray do it’s work.
— After it has had it’s time to work, they’ll apply warm wax, have you take a deep breath in and riiiiiipppp as you breathe out.
— Tweeze strays to finish!
I guess it’s not that complicated. I had no idea what to expect, so there it is! It hurt a bit, but she was really nice about giving me time to breathe and deal with the pain. Even with that, I was out and finished in 15 minutes!
I appreciated how she talked about how it would get easier with repeated waxings. She recommended getting one every 5 – 7 weeks!
Parking: There are a bunch of spaces outside the place in a small parking lot. Street parking exists. I had my appointment at 10:45am and had no trouble finding a spot!

I tried to book an appointment, since there are good reviews here and they were offering a deal. I attempted to call more than once, but they never answered their phone. The voicemail directs you to book online, but the site requires *all* your personal information plus your credit card information, all before you can even see the available appointments.

I absolutely love this place. I only get a Brazilian wax done here so I can’t speak on every services, but Lauren is the bomb. (She’s the only person who has done mine.) She’s honestly the sweetest person ever and she makes you feel so comfortable during the wax.
She gets it done REALLY quickly while making sure to get all the areas done. I’m pretty hairy and I have never gotten home and been unsatisfied. The place itself is a cute little shop and its very welcoming. If you are looking for a new place to get a BW done, go here!
My only tip is KNOCK LOUD when you get there! Sometimes they don’t hear you if you do it softly, and from my personal experience they don’t always answer the phone.

I am the worst when it comes to staying on schedule with personal maintenance appointments. However, I do believe that eyebrows are one of those things where scheduling a recurring appointment for 20 – 30 mins will really save you a lot of time and hassle in the long run. Plus if you find someone good they will be able to completely change your face and make you look better! I was super worried about trying some place new because eyebrows take so long to grow back.
After doing a lot of research on Unilocal and MindBody I found The Fix in the neighborhood. Best test for if you trust someone to do your eyebrows is to look at their own eyebrows, and Lauren is absolutely gorgeous and perfect. I immediately felt comfortable walking in and was welcomed by really thoughtful and adorable décor plus friendly staff. They have gone out of their way to create a very homey tucked away «spa» feel with beautiful exposed brick, white furniture and other dainty accents.
Highly recommend Lauren if you want someone that is an expert in skin and waxing/​brows. She has done such a good job that I am now scheduling my appointments in advance to make sure that I don’t let my brows go for too long without her help. Try this place out if you want the most high quality beauty/​skin/​waxing services for an affordable price.

I walked in looking like a baby gorilla, I walked out looking like a well groomed human being. To say that I love The Fix is an understatement.
I have had my entire face waxed about 3x now, and the quality of work has been consistently great. Some may say that I have trust issues when it comes to my eyebrows because of one awful threading experience that I had years ago, but The Fix has changed me. I appreciate how thorough Lauren is with my eyebrows without compromising the fullness of them. Are waxes suppose to be relaxing? because I have yet to feel pain like the way waxes are portrayed in movies.
I haven’t had any appointments with Alex, but both Alex and Lauren are the sweetest humans ever. Initially, I was worried that I would have a difficult time conversing with the esthetician/​wax specialist, and we would just exist in silence for an hour, but I was pleasantly surprised. I have had some nice conversations with Lauren during the wax, and with Alex when I am checking out.

I came back for a second visit, this time for waxing with Alex. It really is a different experience when you go to a salon and you feel like you’re hanging out with a friend. The space, and the cozy treatment rooms, feel like home. In terms of the quality, Alex did a fantastic job and I left feeling very relaxed.

I found a Groupon online and decided to give this place a try. I got my first Brazilian done here and Alex was super accommodating, she was very gentle and talked me through the process. This place has become my go to for waxing now. The location itself is not super big but it is very clean, welcoming and relaxing. I highly recommend this place for anyone in need of a wax.
P. S. There is a cute little bakery at the corner of that same block with awesome desserts.

Generally I go to a place in Rockridge, but since my person wasn’t available I decided to check groupon and try a new place (it worked last time). I’m so glad I did and found out about the fix, I was surprised about how great and relaxing the place looked, and even more about the great treatment I received from Alex. Not only the wax was amazing, she also made me feel super comfortable and welcome. I’m happy I blindly got their package, because I’m definitely going back there.

This place goes above and beyond to make you feel and look great! I’ve now had several facials and a couple of waxing services. Alex is caring, thorough and fun to work with! The prices are reasonable and the experience is extraordinary. I’m so pleased to have a place like this near my neighborhood! Appointment only, but they are very flexible.

I’m really excited about this new day spa. It’s got a high-​end feel and service and the space is so serene and beautiful. Exposed brick. Soft colors. R & R!
Lauren Burnley is very sweet and knowledgeable. She put her magician aesthetician skills to work on my oily skin, which hadn’t had professional help in a year, and gave me some great tips for upkeep. I can’t wait for The Fix’s product and merch.
All in all, very stoked for what’s to come for The Fix and the loyal customer base they are sure to gain via LivingSocial and word of mouth!
