Meet the Business Owner
Akiva R.
Business Owner
I started my career in food in 2001 when I attended culinary school and majored in pastry arts. Out of school I worked in the restaurant design industry. In 2005 I moved to Portland Oregon where I co-founded a creative culture art magazine called Sedition Magazine. I took the position of food writer to review local restaurants. In 2006 I was picked up by an energy drink company who moved me back to my hometown, Berkeley, where I was put in charge of launching their product line in Northern and Southern Ca and heading up promotional teams throughout. In 2009 after heavy research I decided to leave that company to launch my own food product company, The Cookie Department.
