The Brick Path Bed & Breakfast

My husband and I booked a last minute New Year’s weekend at the Brick Path B and B and we were very pleased with the accommodations! We stayed in the Master Suite which has recently been upgraded. We enjoyed the sparkling new jacuzzi bath tub and new kitchen and décor.
We didn’t get to enjoy our breakfast in the garden (although it is still pretty in its winter display) but we were served breakfast in our room at our little table. Delicious home-​made bread and fresh fruit, etc.
This is a wonderfully private room, more like a cottage than a b and b and we heard very little noise from the house or outside.
Wendy is a friendly and informative hostess. She recommended Fonda as a tapas place to eat on Solano Ave. and we are very happy we ate there. AMAZING food!
We hope to stay again at the Brick Path!

I love living in LA, but I love Berkeley, too, and I miss living there! So «The Brick Path» makes it easy to feel as if I’m in my old ‘hood again. I just booked another stay thee, so I’ll get to enjoy the wonderful places to eat on Solano Avenue, I’ll get to climb up to Indian Rock and enjoy the glory of looking out over the bay, the San Francisco Bridge and watch the sunset with the locals. In ’88, when I lived here, people would bring wine and weed and just relax! The last time I stayed at this wonderful B &B, I stayed in the Fireplace Room, and it’s cozy and comfy. Wendy, the owner, is great! Next time, I’ll be staying in the bigger unit that has a kitchen. I’m fussy about coffee, food and comfort! And this place is perfect!

My partner and I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Brick Path Bed and Breakfast to avoid the hazards of the bay bridge closure, and did not know we were in for such a treat.
The location of this bed and breakfast makes for very easy access to the shopping corridor in Albany, and not too far from Berkeley either.
To start with, Wendy, our host, is absolutely delightful. Fun and personable from the initial contact, and through the whole visit.
The room was large, clean, and beautifully put together. A comfortable mattress (big points here!), fresh coffee and any additions you might want like orange juice and milk. We chose to have our breakfasts in the garden — a peaceful place out the back, and indulge ourselves in the conversation of our host. Remember to ask for the toast, the bread is made by Wendy’s father.
We are now hoping for another bridge closure to give us an excuse to stay again!

My husband and I just returned from a very enjoyable long weekend at The Brick Path.
The «Master Suite» was exactly as described & shown on the web site. Most importantly for us it was very, very quiet and tranquil.
Breakfast featured homemade bread from the owner’s 85 year-​old father, which was excellent! We walked to «Gourmet Ghetto» (about 15 mins) instead of the much closer restaurants on Solano, and enjoyed a meal at Chez Pannise, as well as treats from the Cheeseboard, Gregoire’s, and the farmer’s market.
We will definitely return.

This place is awesome. We stayed in the fireplace room for 2 nights while we visited family. It’s walking distance to a ton of restaurants and shops on Solano. Wendy (the owner) is amazing. She brings you breakfast every morning, and it’s a great assortment: croissants, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, orange juice, strawberry jam. If you don’t want to wake up early, she has vouchers for La Ferraine and Peet’s coffee. We love it so much we’re going to stay here when we come back in december.

My wife and I recently stayed here on vacation and loved it. It is located in a nice, quiet residential Berkeley neighborhood and is walking distance to a variety of restaurants and shopping on Solano St., as well as to the many beautiful Berkeley trails including Indian Rock Park. The room we stayed in was immaculate and comfortable, with a full private bath, fireplace, and ample space to relax. Wendy, the proprietor, was wonderful. She provided us with great local recommendations and perfect directions to all of the areas of Berkeley we were interested in seeing. The organic breakfast was excellent as well. Brick Path is highly recommended and we will certainly be back the next time we visit.

This is a wonderful, well-​done B & B in a beautiful setting… the gardens and grounds are gorgeous, my room (The Fireplace) was terrific (super-​clean, spacious, charming… with, of course, a fireplace for warmth and mood), and Wendy Sprague, the proprietor, is a gem. Just stay here. And eat at Chez Panisse Café while you’re in town.

As Program Chair for a local arts organization I am responsible for arranging accommodations for our monthly guest lecturers. Wendy at the Brick Path Bed & Breakfast has been an absolute treasure and it has been my absolute pleasure to work with her. Not only has she helped us to coordinate our arrangements in a timely and seamless manner, but her personal attention to the comfort and individual needs of our guests has been extraordinary. Our visiting artists who have stayed at the Brick Path B & B have rated it ‘excellent’, without exception.
Rooms at the Brick Path Bed & Breakfast are invitingly decorated and the beautiful garden serves as a private oasis for guests. Although you may feel that you are in a secluded home, you are only steps away from a wonderful district where you can find a variety of restaurants, several coffee bars, bakeries, interesting shops and more.
Wendy has created a lovely ‘home away from home’ and I highly recommend the Brick Path Bed & Breakfast. If I didn’t live just one mile away, I would book a reservation for myself!

We loved this place. We went for two nights after our wedding to rest up before the honeymoon began. That was a great decision, and this room was perfect. We stayed in the fireplace room (yes, it has a fireplace, as well as a piano and the most comfortable bed ever). Breakfast was good (nothing hot, but we were fine with something simple) and served in the room. The lady that ran the place was very sweet. She just gave us our space. The place is very private. We never saw anyone else while there. We were able to walk downtown for other meals. Fridge and microwave in the room, to the best of my memory, which was convenient if you wanted to pack in fruit for snacks. No TV in the room, which was perfect for us. Wifi (a must) and a quiet atmosphere. Would definitely go again (and I don’t repeat visits to B&Bs).

Yet another un-​reviewed Bay Area B+B gem… looks like I’m about to be pigeon-​holed. Anyway, this is another nice spot to lay down your weary bones during a short stint in the SF environs. Or, if you already live in the area, stash the folks/​friends there. They’ll be much happier here than at an overpriced hotel in Union Square or on your Ikea couch. Wendy is the hostess — she is super organized and knows the n’hood well. She’s warm and friendly, but knows when to leave you alone in her little garden palace. There are a few spaces available at Brick Path, plus she owns another property nearby. We stayed in the Master Bedroom, which is attached to the main house, but has its own private entrance off the shared garden courtyard. This room is like a studio apt and includes a bedroom, a kitchenette and a gigantic bathroom w/​jacuzzi tub and separate shower. Free cable and wi-​fi, of course. Other rentals are suites or entire cottages. Everything is immaculate and in good, simple taste. Breakfast is an extra $ 10/​pp, but you could do better just walking a couple blocks up to Solano Avenue where there’s a Peet’s Coffee + a couple other cafes and bakeries. The North Berkeley n’hood is nice and calm, but not quite as quiet as o’er at Micasa (traffic is steady and a bit close). Good times though — mucho recommended!
