Subway locations are generally consistent across the board, but this location did disappoint me on one occasion. I ordered a meatball sub and but the meatballs were not hot and the sauce was not the right consistency(too pasty). This location does not accept gift cards, which is really inconvenient. I’ve also had a lot of trouble using coupons here. Although they usually honor them, I’ve come across employees that refuse to accept them. I keep coming back because the location near campus is very convenient and prices are reasonable, but there is a better Subway located further south on Telegraph Avenue.

Super depressing place. Not good for eating in, takeout only. Rude workers. The sandwich was decent though.

Subway is just my quick go to for sustenance. In reality, especially here in berkeley there are much better places to go for quality tasty sandwiches(which come with the higher price). Usually get 9 grain honey oat veggie delight. Like i said, it isn’t bad. It is pretty average. The one here on bancroft is not my favorite subway. It can get difficult communicating with some of the workers to get a good order through. But on some days it is understandable because the customers are not doing a very good job paying attention or anything. There are a few seats inside you can seat in. Not a very group friendly location. I think recently they have their 5 dollar foot long sandwich of the day which might make it better!

Great location. As a student walking out of class, when I smell the freshly baked bread I am hooked. The service could do better, and it is frustrating that the pricing has increased so much in the last few years. Overall a pretty good Subway.

This location sucks. Long lines and bad service. I come here to get a sandwich. The guy helping everyone before me. Stepped away right when it was my turn to order. I had to wait awhile before someone helped me. What bad service. Also the chair seat pads are kind of ripped. This not the best Subway location to go to.

I’m not a huge fan of Subway in general. For me, the average Subway location is a 2 or 3. This location is above average for these reasons: –The line moves relatively fast. Generally, the line at a Subway is super slow, but the workers here are very expedient. –The vegetables have been fresh every time I’ve been to this location. At the Subway by where I used to live, I had to specify that I wanted the non-brown lettuce. –This is probably one of the cheapest places to get food in Berkeley. A meal at one of the mom and pop fast food places on Telegraph will set you back about $ 8, while a foot-long sub costs $ 5.50 at Subway. That’s economies of scale for you. –I see that most reviews complain about rude employees. Well, the employees have always been nice to me. To be clear, I’d pick Jimmy John’s, Quiznos, Togo’s, Which Wich, etc. any day over Subway. However, none of those restaurants are in the area and somehow the only two other sandwich places nearby(Montague’s and Cheese N Stuff) are even worse than Subway taste-wise. If you want a quick, cheap meal near to the south part of campus, you could do a lot worse than this Subway.

Terrible service. Right next to campus, extremely busy, so it’s probably hard to be happy or friendly while working there.

I am not reviewing Subway as a whole, but just this particular branch. I’ve been in a few times and I swear every time I’ve been in there, their bread is ALWAYS burnt or super hard. Then once I forgot they always have burnt bread and made the mistake of going there again. What do you know? The bread was hard.

Subway. Pretty standard. A lot smaller than normal establishments so there is very few seating. It’s great because it is close to campus… but this means that there are really long line, especially since college students love cheap food! Subs for $ 5? Yup, definitely expect college students to be here. The lines are ALWAYS out the door. The sandwiches compared to others are pretty mediocre. Sometimes they give you more, sometimes they give you less. I would avoid going here if lines are long. Not a big fan of this Subway in particular.

Stopped by this Subway branch to try out their breakfast sandwiches before class. I went in early and it was not too crowded. I ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese flatbread sandwich with lettuce and tomato thrown in. It was quite all right, it tasted pretty good. I was perusing the reviews for this place. Many of them were written years ago, and there probably have been changes in staff/associates since then. It was not too busy and the associate who attended to me was helpful. I had to ask her to speak up a bit as the combination of music inside Subway and the construction on Lower Sproul Plaza was not helping matters any. I was quite delighted with how my sandwich turned out and tasted. I would give this Subway another go. NTS: I will concur it would be best to get that five dollar foot long before peak lunch hours. Remember Jared Fogle? Here he is with The Muppets in a Subway commercial with a tie-in for The Muppets’Most Wanted(2014) film: Subway – Eat Fresh! SYOY!

Ambiance: Always smells soooooo heavenly here. Like fresh baked bread bread bread bread. Service: Workers are so annoying. They have no patience when explaining things and are so confusing! Food: Footlong Veggie Delight — Get it with sweet onion & mustard sauce & provolone &EVERYVEGGIE. So bomb in my opinion, but not filling. Must add meat next time. Price: $ 5 Tip: — Definitely go for the $ 5 footlongs. — Hunt down those coupons that are mailed to your house, your apartments, wherever! — Buy an avocado somewhere else and stick it in yo sandwich. Conclusion: Convenient. Delicious. Affordable.

Pros: Nice and convenient, being right next to campus. Cons: Slow service, long lines at peak times like lunch at noon, occasionally unenthusiastic workers(I got yelled at once by a worker for not paying attention at first when she asked me something. I’m sure she was having a bad day but it was just startling to see something like that at a place like this.)

Service varies. During peak hours it will be rushed – otherwise they arent so bad. The employees often dont quite understand what you say(and vice versa) but they tend to be nice. The place sometimes closes a bit earlier than stated. Also the wheat bread isn’t really wheat bread… Or it used to not be. Do some research. Food is very mediocre. The bread is awful and thin, and all the vegetables are limp. You can get full, but the quality is seriously lacking. I used to go here semi often sophomore year, and now the taste of subway makes me feel a bit ill. Getting your subs toasted does slightly improve the taste, but there is a small charge. This would be a 1 star, but the extra star is for convenience — non peak hours they make the subs pretty fast, and it’s right next to campus. If youre not in a hurry though, go for montagues about a couple blocks down; it’s slightly more expensive, their ingredients are better; also while the sammich might not be as long as the footlongs, because the bread is much thicker you’re probably getting way more bang for your buck :)

Service here is very slow. Very slow. But i gotta say, you can only make so many sandwiches with the little amount of space these workers have. Lines are always long, and expect a line out the door during the lunch rush(11−3pm). So, you’re in line, only have 5 bucks, and are hungry as hell what should you get? I usually get the sweet onion chicken on honey oat bread with creamy sriracha sauce. This toasted is quite good. They also have $ 4 lunch deals where you get a 6 inch sandwich and a drink. This is a pretty good deal but its actually cheaper if you just buy the footlong. Service is expected of a fast food sandwich chain with hoards and hoards of hungry students on a budget. Cookies and Chips– eh, not worth it.

Location: Convenient. Literally one of the first places you reach after exiting the south side of campus. Prices: reasonable. Only a couple sandwiches are part of the $ 5 foot long special Food: mediocre. The falafel sandwich wasn’t cutting it for me. The falafels easily crumbled. It was a mess to eat, and the flavors just weren’t present. Service: You’re definitely rushed. Be prepared to know what you already want coming in. Go here if you really have no other choices. Other than that, I’d go elsewhere.

The food at all Subways I would have to say are pretty much the same and good all around, but my rating for this Subway is based off the staff. I’ve come here multiple times and the service is very inconsistent. The first 2 times, the women who helped me were very kind and friendly However one time I asked the worker to leave my sandwich un-toasted but he still toasted it. The same worker asked me multiple times what I wanted on my footlong again. it was as if he wasn’t listening to me and was distracted. Another time I tried to redeem a free cookie after taking a survey on the Subway receipt, the gentleman gave me real sass and said the number wasn’t right. That I needed 14 numbers on my receipt not 5. although the code I received was only 5 numbers. Very rude. after my past bad experiences, I avoid this subway. I also noticed the tax or something here is slightly more than the Subway further down on Telegraph.

I’m not sure why this place has such low rating. It’s so cheap and convenient for college students. The staff here are pretty fast, so even if the line is out the door, it shouldn’t take too long. Why the four stars when the average is at a two? If you’ve been to the Subway in downtown, you would give this place a four too. They should be about the same since they are a chain and so the food quality is the same. Because their fast service, they tend to put more condiments in my sandwiches. My sandwich is more filling than the one on Shattuck makes. Cheap, fast, filling… that’s pretty much all you need as a college student.
