We are a movement and performance based studio in Berkeley’s historic Sawtooth Building. Many classes and programs call us home, including iaido, aikido, aerial dance, jujitsu, dance journey, soul motion, core connexion, and more.

We have room for special events and ongoing classes, and will happily promote your offering. Booking and coordination are efficient, pleasant, and simple.

I come to this studio most Sat mornings for Soul Motion. I really like the size, it’s quite large that it never feels too crowded with usually around 30 people dancing. Super easy parking around there, close to the freeway and Berkeley Bowl. Big plus!

Fantastic, open space with great natural light. Very affordable, and Andrej the studio manager is super helpful and friendly. We needed a space to shoot a simple music video on short notice, and Andrej was very accommodating. He was interested in our project and even offered a great idea that we ended up using in our video.

Azzia and Andrej run this place like pros. Azzia returns calls in record time. The space is beautiful and affordable. It’s probably my favorite space in the bay for classes and I always check there first when I’m scheduling an event. They keep their schedule on-​line so it’s easy to plan. The attached kitchenette and bathroom are welcome bonuses in a massive building where the public rest rooms are far away across a cold hallway. Good sound system…
Really it’s Azzia’s responsiveness and the size of the space and quality of the floor that make this space a step above.

I rented Studio 12 for my 40th bday party (for about 40 – 50 people). Was a lovely experience from start to finish. Azzia and Andrej were terrific, thorough, and responsive whenever I had questions. Very gracious people. Very affordable too. I have recommended the space to all my friends.

Beautiful space with amazing lighting and great energy. Extremely well-​managed and run, easy to find, easy to park, easy to schedule time. The space accommodates everything from small workshops to big dances and concerts. Whatever the scope of your event I recommend checking this place out.

I practice Iaido (Japanese sword) here, and I drive up twice a week to bring my daughter to Aikido. Wonderful space, great floors, mirror when we want it, plenty of free street parking, and lots of attractions on nearby San Pablo. Easy access from 580⁄80 (I drive up from Alameda). Good vibe from the Iaido and Aikido sensei and students.

I’ve been coming to Studio 12 for a couple of years now, attending Aikido classes, and it is always a pleasure to walk in the door. It’s a big, open, inviting space, and the wood floor is beautiful. Access and parking is easy, and the surrounding community in the Sawtooth building – dance studios, artists, craftspeople – make for a great vibe. There’s always something interesting going on. Highly recommended.

I go to Studio 12 several times a month for various dance events. I rented it out myself for a fundraiser back in January. It has great wood floors, good acoustics and lots of wonderful memories. Reasonable rates and very kind management. Highly recommended for dance events!
