I’m a long-​term, loyal customer dating back to the mid-80’s. Manager, Jim Padilla, is a man of integrity and conscience and will bend over backwards to be responsive. He’ll work with you to resolve your issue and give you the benefit of the doubt. The employees are very experienced and have been with the company a long time. Perhaps you will be fortunate enough to have Guillermo work on your car; he does great work. Ditch the chain stores; support your community, independent businesses.

Shattuck Auto Collision Center in Berkeley is an excellent place to take your vehicle when you need collision or body work. My driver side door lock and handle was destroyed for over 8 years, then it got to the point where I needed to get it repaired because the door wouldn’t lock plus my trunk lock was not working. I went on a Saturday to get an estimate quote for my door and received a warm greeting by Jim P. He was professional and a great listener to what brought me to the shop. Jim examined the vehicle then gave me a printout of the estimate for the work that I needed to be done.
The next month I returned to have the work done. The price was reasonable and the work was amazing. I am grateful for the professionalism and the integrity that’s comes with the service, no hidden fees.

Clean, courteous, honest, and cost efficient. What can you expect more?

Came here to get some work done on my cat after an unfortunate series of events.
Picked them because they were a local business with years of service to the community.
The team was super helpful and willing to work with my budget.
Turn around time was as promised.
Work was done well and the lengthy warranty is nice.
Was a bit unhappy that they didn’t wash the entire car and left some white residue on the areas that the work was done. Also the window wasn’t reset properly to ensure that the one touch up and down was functional.
I would recommend to others looking for body work.

I didn’t get any service done here but I have to admit they were SO helpful and honest in helping me find better alternatives to stuff I didn’t need instead of trying to milk as much money out of me as possible they gave me a really GOOD quote if I wanted the whole shabang (compared to other neighboring shops), and recommended people if I just wanted a solid touch up. All out of pocket, if I ever need a full make over, this is the place I would go to.

They were professional, friendly, and didn’t charge me a cent for the little bit of help I needed. They gave me good advice, and I’ll be sure to go back when I need more work done.

I was happy with the service I got and the results of the work. Everything that mattered was fine. Car looks great – they even gave the outside of the car a nice wash. Staff was polite and professional. When I thought I would be pressed for time, they even offered to give me a ride to pick up the car if necessary.
I had only two very minor issues. I dropped my car off at 10:00 Monday, and was told it would be two days. At 1:00 Wednesday I hadn’t heard, so called. They had the car ready at 4:00. (I guess that two days might have meant «sometime Wednesday.») Also, they don’t accept personal checks (completely understandable) or credit cards. I paid by signing over the insurance check and giving them the remaining $ 450 in cash.

Within 20 minutes of calling in to see if they could fix my brake light, my light was fixed, they asked for no compensation, and when I insisted, the man who helped me said I could just leave 5 dollars to buy coffee. Never had as great of car service ever; I know it wasnt a huge labor event vs. other cars that have been totaled but how efficient, kind and helpful he was went above and beyond my expectations. Thanks!

My experience with Shattuck Auto Collision Center was excellent. The staff was professional and helpful, the turn-​around was quicker than expected and when completed my car looked great. They knew how to exchange info with the insurance company so I did very little to get the process completed. There was only damage to the rear bumper but they cleaned the rest of the car, going the extra mile gets the five stars.

Shattuck Auto Collision Center is AMAZING! Although this was my first time to fix our car, my experience cannot be better than this! I highly recommend this place! Jim is very friendly and professional. The price is reasonable and their work is accurate and completed on time. They even cleaned inside of our car (even though the damage was only outside.) Now our old car looks like a new car! Although it was sometimes hard to reach Jim on the phone, but I think it just means many people need his help. Thank you, Shattuck Auto Collision Center!

I picked up my car from Shattuck Auto Center yesterday and I am SUPER HAPPY with the work they’ve done. I shopped around other body shops and Jim was the one who offered me the best quote, which was one of the deciding factors for me. I also chose this shop because Jim was straight-​forward, ethical and transparent about his work and the work of his crew. And it paid off — the painters did an excellent job — my car looks great. The fact that the shop is open on Saturdays is also a huge plus for me. Overall, I recommend Shattuck Auto Center wholeheartedly! Thank you Jim and crew!

Fri. Jul 11 at around 8:45ish in the morning… I get dropped off by Lamarr from Hertz in Albany, only to find out that my car will actually not be ready until the END of today. I did not receive an email update, nor did I receive a phone call. I guess I’m really lucky to be able to get to work via BART, and that the station is only 3 blocks away. Jim explained that the email system is new and he apologized for the lack of any notice. He also kindly offered to get me a car through enterprise up the block, but again, no need since BART is so close.

I signed off on the repair job, paid the deductible, and they handed me a Shattuck Auto Center pen and a packet containing a brochure, a copy of my itemized final bill, and a customer satisfaction survey with a prepaid envelope.

I live near Shattuck Auto Center and came in with my car dreading the estimate for repairs from a thoughtless driver who damaged my driver side door and front panel and did not leave a note! The driver door could not be opened and we have to climb in through the passenger side. I mentioned to the receptionist that I just wanted the minimal repairs done so the car could be drivable and not totaled by the insurance company. I believe her name is Kelly (sorry if I remembered incorrectly). She was so sweet, she suggested that I could save money if they just hammered out the dented areas. She went to the front office, spoke to Jim and asked if he could pop out the dented panels and help me out. He said of course he could. He took a crowbar and some muscle and popped out the caved in surfaces and said,“No charge.”
I was speechless and so elated! That level of customer service is priceless these days! Thank you very much for taking care of my needs!

My experience with Jim and the Shattuck Auto Collision Center seriously could not have gone any better. (And it was an especially striking contrast to the recent polar-​opposite deplorable experiences at nearby Bob Motter and Boyd’s, so that made it all the more awesome.)
Jim was super friendly, funny, and professional at the same time. He had that perfect mix of charm, humbleness, and competence that made it very easy to both trust and like him. I thought he was actually taking my quote a little *too* seriously at first, entering in all my information into his computer while I stood by, but it ultimately was a sign that he took his work AND his customer service seriously, which set him far apart in the end.
The work needed on my car wasn’t trivial, his team did a FABULOUS job (car looks GREAT; shiny and brand new), and he even helped me save a few hundred bucks off of what was already a fair market quote for the work needed, and he even seemed happy to do so. :) He kept in touch throughout the process, keeping me apprised so that I could make decisions about which parts to use /​repair options to go with and negotiate the length of my rental car term with my insurance company. He even referred me to a colleague’s upholstery shop (and had that shop deliver him the carpet I needed so that I wouldn’t have to drive there), and pay only cost, to get an unrelated carpet replaced in my trunk. Super nice!
I can’t say enough good things about Jim and my experience there, and as you can see from my other reviews, I don’t dole out glowing recommendations lightly — I reserve those only for the truly deserving. And this is absolutely one such case.
Oh yeah. Even his receptionist was hilarious too! :)

I’ve been here for personal and business vehicles. I’ve felt very well taken care of. They really advocated for me to get the most comprehensive repairs possible given the various situations. I would highly recommend them.

Took my car to fix side door panel and Jim took care of me. Looks just like new. Even gave me free dent removal and car wash. DEFINteLY my go to body shop! Very fair price and great service.

I took my VW golf in with a big, deep scratch on the bumper. My bumper turned out better than expected and cost less than I thought it would. The people who work there are really friendly and professional. I almost didn’t recognize my car it looked so good! I highly recommend this place.

I had purchased a brand new car (subaru) and someone hit the bumper in the parking lot within a week of owning it. Luckily that person left a note and their State Farm insurance covered it. The SACC is a State Farm approved service center but I wanted to check with the Subaru dealership first. Guess where they recommended I go? That’s right, to the SACC. So with full confidence, I left my new car in the hands of Jim and team. They fixed the bumper (without having to replace it!) and you’d never know it was hit. They even washed the car (which had some dust on the outside). And when I pointed out that there was dust on the inside from the bumper job, they cleaned that for me too. Their waiting area has wi-​fi (which is where I am writing this review from) and plenty of magazines if you don’t bring your own entertainment.
It was very easy and I would trust them again for anything. Highly recommend.

came here with hubby to get an estimate for my car damage.
The place was recommended by my insurance.
A man greeted us warmly and quickly explained the estimate works.
He took his paperwork and his camera and got started looking at the damage. Shortly after, he explained the damage and the estimate. He sounded like he really knows what he’s doing.
He was very accommodating and my experience was very pleasant.
We ended up bringing my car some place (due to personal reasons) but this was the next shop on my list.
Will definitely recommend this.

The people who work here are some of the nicest and most accommodating people I have ever met! We called them to see if they would help paint the body shell of a project car we were working on – considerably larger than a normal car and an odd shape too.
They were unbelievably enthusiastic and even worked with our extremely tight schedule. The turn around time was under half a week! Our project car came back looking much much more professional and impressive than when we had dropped it off in their very capable hands.
