Sconehenge Bakery & Cafe

This is a nice café and bakery spot. I came for the bakery in the morning the first time I came to this place, the 2^nd time which is recent I came for the breakfast.
RESTAURANT:
It is a very spacious restaurant, has a lot of space for big groups to come and gather for some breakfast and coffee.
SERVICE:
The waiters is all over the place, and it’s not her fault. It’s because they have her working the cash register, getting orders, serving, refilling water! The manager should look into hiring another waitress. Both times I went, there was only one waitress and it was the same waitress both times.
BREAKFAST FOOD:
The food is pretty good, but the scrambled eggs was so wet and slimy I couldn’t even eat it. But their pancakes, and waffles are very delicious. But I would replace the eggs unless you like them like that! The meat (ham, bacon, and sausage) were all good as well!
CONCLUSION
All in All I recommend this place, just be prepared for some semi poor service, good food but bad eggs!

This place is a great– a simple place to grab breakfast or brunch. If you aren’t in the mood to wait hours to eat brunch on a Saturday or Sunday at a pretentious Bay Area restaurant, this place is for you. Decent food, great prices, and good service. Also, their homemade English muffins are fantastic.

Love this place! When other places (just a few blocks up) have an hour wait, you can usually just sit down here and get way more and way better food. I love the huevos rancheros but I haven’t had a bad meal here. The omelets are huge and amazing as well. Also, the OJ is SUPER fresh.

This review has been a long time coming. We love their scones and were so happy to discover they have a café and bakery.
So on a VERY RAINY Saturday morning around 11am on our way to purchase Oakland A’s tickets we stopped for breakfast. What a wonderful surprise! We were greeted when we came in, the place was busy so we decided to take 2 seats at the counter. We were greeted at the counter and asked if we would like juice or coffee while we were deciding. The prices were more than reasonable especially considering the amount of food served. I honestly can’t think of one bad thing to say about Sconehenge. Plus a very nice young woman stood and talked with us giving us the history and how Sconehenge got it’s start.

The service wasn’t the fastest, but the food did arrive super quickly. The plates were HEAPING with food, and my boyfriend and I dug in. No more than half an hour later, we both felt awful and had the rest of our food boxed up to go. By the time we paid the check and walked out, we were both seriously nauseous and had to come straight home to avoid any embarrassing stomach issues in public. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

This place is about a 3.5 star. It maybe a four star for some. The scones are fresh and have some fruit. They are also soft and warm. Nothing to complain about, but also nothing to brag about either. All around a pretty good place to eat.

The Huevos Rancheros was big enough to split with another person.
Quick service — grab an menu when you come in and find a table. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait for a table to clear — but this place filled up very quickly!

I came here with a friend looking for the closest sit down brunch spot from my home. This place was it! Coming in we didn’t really understand how the seating or ordering worked which was confusing but it was slow so we just looked around and copied what everyone else did. Later I realized that when its busier you wait to be seated by the owner who is this really sweet Asian woman. If it’s slow you can go ahead and sit at an open table and stare at waiters so they notice you’re there haha!
Other than the confusing first but the service from then on was really great. This place has a comforting aura and the people that work here make you feel even more at home. Look around and you’ll see a wide array of people from cal athletes to families to hipsters. Very welcoming!
The food was amazing. Nothing fancy and it hit the spot. I had the French toast special which came with strawberries, whipped cream and crispy serving of chicken apple sausage. YUM. I also decided to grab some hash browns and sour cream (I like to add that to the taters) which were great but just remember to shake salt atop right when you get them. Also asks for hot sauce and they have me their house made salsa which was really delicious! Had a smokey chipotle flavor. They also have jams and orange marmalade if that’s your fancy. My friend ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries which did no disappoint! I had a bite and it was gooooood.
If you’re in the area you’ll notice that there aren’t many brunch spots around. I recommend this spot and will most definitely be back myself. Also the lines are not nearly as bad as la note or Venus!

Customer service is dead. What kind of BS answer is that? They say you never get a second chance to make a first impressions, well this business had a booger in its nose, spinach between its teeth, and smelled like bologna on its first impression on me. To the manager/​owner, consider training your staff to be more polite and courteous and you might gain some loyal customers.

Simple, straightforward breakfast but housemade english muffins and scones. Delicious!
Love their english muffins as they’re soft, thick with a wonderful flavor… and the blueberry, currant scones are the best… lightly sweet, buttery soft and delicious and just tops of a wonderful meal.
Service on point… quick and friendly… Lattes here are huge and perfectly made.

Nice little diner that serves American/​slight Mexican breakfast. I had the Simple Mexican Breakfast with egg which included rice, beans, eggs and tortillas. I would come again.

A great brunch place. We showed up around 12 and got seated right away. The servers were nice and quick.
I got the Texas omelette, which was the special for the day. The portions were large. It also came with a blueberry scone. The scone was warm and very tasty.
Parking was a little tricky since there is no lot. There is free street parking on Sunday.

This is our go-​to place for Saturday morning breakfast (and we do a lot of Saturday morning breakfasts). Interesting ethnic mix of foods: (1) terrific homemade scones and English muffins; and (2) authentic (to our taste) Mexican cooking. My wife always has the breakfast burrito, and I experiment up and down the menu, and am almost never disappointed (huevo rancheros, huevo de la Casa; tamales; pork chop breakfast; sometimes even — pancakes).
Bottomless coffee; friendly get-​to-​know you wait staff; free scone or pastry sample as you pay the cashier.

Based off service and food — 5 stars! I LOVE sconehenge. Seriously my favorite breakfast spot in Berkeley. I go probably every other weekend and have never been disappointed. Friendly, attentive staff. Awesome options for daily specials. Also, I have yet to find any better pancakes around town. Both blueberry and buttermilk are divine.
This morning we called in our order in advance (to eat there). The woman on the line was friendly and answered all our questions. By the time we got there are food was ready and hot. We had the salmon scramble special with hash browns and an english muffin, and blueberry pancakes. They also have great salsa (which I believe is made in-​house) and jam.
We had some leftovers and forgot them there! After we remembered (over an hour later), we went back and they had them saved for us with our table number and the time we left
Love this place. Also try their espresso drinks! Great sizes for the prices and super yummy!

Sconehenge is like my fantasy diner — breakfast is a combo of Mexican deliciousness and fluffy yummy pancakes. Today I got to have a breakfast burrito (get the egg burrito which has mild chiles and eggs and cheese with sausage — nom) AND a short stack of pancakes with juicy blueberries AND a side of crispy hash which I shared with a friend.
I had forgotten how good and affordable this place is! I love Venus for breakfast but we often end up waiting around and then listening to some tech bros talk about what round of funding they are in which makes me extremely grumpy to be shelling out 25 $+/​person for breakfast. Sconhenge is for real people and they have booths in the back and service is awesome and friendly.

Great for a long weekend start!
Got the veggie scramble, with wheat bread and hash brown. Big portion even enough for two people!
They have their special homemade sauce, ask them for some to try on your omelette or so

A great place for brunch. Unlike popular places such as La Note and Venus that have an hour long wait, you can almost always immediately find a seat. The pancakes are delightful – crispy on the outside while fluffy on the inside. One of the servers one time commented, «I don’t know how they do it!» As expected from the name of the place, the scones are also quite good. I usually never stray from the pancakes, but the huevos con chorizo are also good.
I tried the waffle with strawberries and cream recently. It had a funny taste to it that I can’t quite put my finger on (maybe too much butter?), and it somewhat clashed with the sweet strawberries and cream. If their waffles always taste like that, I wouldn’t recommend them.
Be aware that they have a $ 10 minimum charge for the use of cards.

Went back with a friend, and this time I ordered Spanish omelete. Their hashbrown!!! Perfectly crispy and still not losing that potato texture (so not to the point of completely dry/​burnt/​crunchy). It came with a choice of some carb (bagel, toast, muffin, scone). I went for the scone and they had a blueberry mango scone that was buttery and fluffy.
My friend ordered Huevos Revueltos and he rly liked them too!
The Unilocal pics helped me choosing a dish with smaller portion size. I want to come back to try other items! :D

I know I know I know… I always rave about Sconehenge. First off, just the name in itself is FAB. U. Lous. It reminds me of one of my favorite groups. Queens of the Stone Age. Weird huh? I guess the word Scone and Stone just seem to click in my whirling mind of lyrics and words.
Anyhow, yea, I just adore their homemade scones. They’re everywhere, even sold at my nearby market, the Village Market! They’ve always got samples, and you also get to sub your toast for a scone of your choice, or the IN HOUSE ENGLISH MUFFIN!

The veggies are NEVER EVER frozen. Al dente veggies, that have a bit of a soft snap to them. The in house hot sauce… oh my, sooooooooooo great. Not too salty, never sweet… just quite nice!
EGGS DONE RIGHT. When a person can make eggs of all sizes and types… YOU’RE LEGIT. I must admit, I’m the queen of eggs galore. I make omelets perfectly. Here, my eggs come out, the way I need them to come out, on whichever day, when I feel like a hard boiled, soft to medium boiled, runny soft scrambled, poached medium, soft, soft to medium… egg white omelet or the yellow fever omelet… etc…
Great cheese selection too. They make everything they way YOU want it. There’s no pretentious stubborn ‘I’m sorry but the cook doesn’t feel that food should be paired with that.’ or ‘No. We don’t change anything.’ (even when my ‘changes’ are just… can u just not include that ingredient, since it is made to order?) It’s not mad science to NOT include a simple ingredient. Okay, this is residual anger from some other uppity joint… ANYHOW… yup yup… clean food, decent food, delicious food, and just… what’s the scone for today? :P
