Sari Palace

Great store and fantastic service! They guided me though choosing a sari for my wedding reception, quickly took measurements for a tailored blouse, and helped me pick out matching jewelry. They have huge selection of items, comparable to the shops I visited in India, and all of the items I viewed were gorgeous.
I would recommend coming here earlier in the morning, as it may get busier on the weekends.
I’ll update again in March when I receive my blouse.

I’ve have nothing but great experiences with Sari Palace. Anil Uncle and his staff have been great to work with and super friendly. We are having a destination wedding in Mexico and have family and friends attending from all over the world! We were able to order custom sari’s and kurti pajama’s for our bridal party at a reasonable price. I also purchased all of my wedding outfits here and was able to find exactly what I was looking for. I even purchased sari’s for my entire family living in Brazil! I would highly recommend Sari Palace to anyone looking for beautiful indian clothing.

Sari Palace is the only boutique that is up to date in Indian fashion. The anarkalis, gowns, the floral… you name it, they have it.
The service here is amazing. Aunty & Heeral are my favorite to work with. I’m a very hard to please person. I have several different ideas and visions that I want all in one outfit and somehow Sari Palace is able to turn that vision into reality. Not only am I picky, but I am curvy and tall; I am not your average suit size. Aunty takes down my measurements for my custom outfits that end up fitting me like a glove.

Excellent service & selection, great suggestions and most of all no pressure! I just wanted a simple Kurta shirt and there was this wonderful little room upstairs where they had a good range of styles and colors. I really appreciated that the lady who helped me listened carefully to what I was looking for and was so helpful even though I wasn’t spending a lot of money.
I was also looking at their white men’s shirts for me as I love the simple style and so good in the summer with jeans, unfortunately they didn’t have my size. I tried other stores on the same street but none matched the quality or style (and actually price) of the one I saw in the Sari Palace.

It’s hard for me to believe that people would give Sari Palace anything less than 5 stars.
2 weeks before my wedding my «custom made» lehngas arrive from India. There are no words I can find to describe how disappointed I was. Instead of crying my mom and I headed straight to Berkeley.
The owner of Sari Palace took me right in. I am not the typical skinny indian girl. I have curves so walking in expecting to buy something off the rack was a bit scary. Anil Uncle saved my wedding. He gave me 100% of his attention and followed up on every single one of his promises. Within 2 weeks he custom made me 2 beautiful outfits that had jaws dropping.
This is not the first time that they have helped us in times of need. His wife did the same for us 5 years earlier in my sisters wedding. They made all of our bridesmaids outfits
If you’re looking for quality service and unique product this is the place to go. If you want to be a bargain hunter then I suggest you walk down the street to the stores that wont even open an outfit for you unless they think you’re a serious buyer.
There is no comparing Sari Palace to any of the other stores in Berkeley. They have the experience and customer service it takes to have a successful business with happy customers!

This place is amazing! Gorgeous saris of a wide variety. I have an Indian wedding coming up and needed all the help I could get. Really warm, friendly, and helpful staff. I probably tried on four saris, which is against protocol! Typically you choose the colour and then try on only the sari that you’ll buy. No one made me feel bad about it. They were very gracious. I absolutely love my sari and would definitely recommend Sari Palace!

I stopped in today, a bit reluctantly after reading some of the negative reviews. Even though I did not buy today, I will be back next time. I was warmly greeted, and the staff was so attentive and helpful. The prices were fair, and the range of styles and quality was very good.
I recommend this nice store.

Person from this place believes I had the wrong place. I definitely do not have them mixed up. I did my research before I headed out. I know who I called and I know who turned me away. Have a nice day.

Terrible place
If you want to waste money go there. They rip you off and they are really rude. They don’t deserve your business.

I always thought Sari palace would be too expensive because their selections are so that extra dollar sign value ($$$). But I was quite impressed! I bought a GORGEOUS, and very unique suit for 200 $, and I didn’t leave with a bad taste in my mouth which usually happens from over-​bargaining and haggling at indian clothing stores.
This doesn’t strike me as a place that you should bargain for that extra 10 – 15 $, the owner arrives at a reasonable middle point for price, you just have to tell her your budget. But isn’t that so nice not to exhaust yourself fighting for every last buck?
And actually feel like you’re getting your money’s worth?
Also, I am extremely picky and they were so patient with me as I shuffled through so many suits before arriving at the one I love– and I didn’t feel rushed even though it was closing time. The owner actually waited for me 15 minutes after closing, and after all her other employees had left, and helped me find earrings that matched my suit. And folks! I wasn’t dropping thousands for that kind of customer service at all :)
These people know what’s up, and know how to take care of their customers. After having a terrible experience at Roopam Sarees, I headed over to Sari Palace a little defeated by the lack of customer service and quality of clothes I had experienced from Roopam Sarees (and Saree Boutique). I was so pleasantly received and attended to at Sari Palace. You guys are awesome– thank you! Special shout out to Ayushma– for being so honest, and patient, and working with me to find exactly what I want!

Had a great experience overall at Sari Palace. I am marrying a Punjabi man, and am Taiwanese so buying my outfits for our wedding was a new and daunting experience. The selection and quality of outfits at Sari Palace sets it above all the other stores I visited in Sacramento and Berkeley. They also have a lot of workers at their store, so while they get busy on the weekends, you can usually find someone who will help you try on outfits and pick out some in the styles and colors you want.
I found my dream dress at Sari Palace, and was a little concerned that it needed so much tailoring due to my petite size. I had about 8 – 9 inches removed from the skirt length 4 inches from the top of the skirt and 4 inches from the bottom and was very stressed that it would change the design of the dress, but their tailor did the most amazing job, you can’t even tell anything was changed! They also fixed the little decorative beads that fell off the top, and added some to the bottom and fixed the dupatta and added little crystals to them. They also did it in record time, sending the dress to their tailor in India, it took only 2 weeks to come back. It’s PERFECT!
The price range of their outfits is on the more expensive side, but it is because the quality of their clothing is top-​notch compared to the other outfits I got from other stores. I cannot wait to wear my lehenga to my reception!

I literally just spent my night going through these reviews on sari palace and LOL-​ed at the negative reviews. I am BEYOND impressed with this boutique! The owners are just the cutest couple and they are always there which shows you how dedicated they are to their boutique and their clients! As an Indian Bride it is sooo difficult to find a place in California that will customize your outfits to your preference and are willing to bend over backwards to make sure you’re a happy client! I got ALL of my outfits made from sari palace. My sangeet lengha, wedding lengha and reception lengha. I had my bridesmaids get their outfits here as well that were custom made to color coordinate with my attire for the wedding day. My fiancé’s outfit was custom made to match my wedding lengha and all of my mom’s outfits were custom made to her likings. Now someone please tell me where else will you find a place that is willing to do it all for you?!
They also have same day alterations which is awesome! It definitely saves you time and having to make trips back and forth to the boutique (I would know since I have an hour and a half away). One thing I do have to explain in this review is that same day alterations are not a walk in the park. It requires hard labor especially when you’re working with Indian outfits because most of the alterations end up being done by hand and not machine. The fact that these ladies can get stuff done under the pressure of clients relying on alterations to be done in such a short amount of time amazes me. Big kuddos to the ladies that make those alterations happen!
Another complaint that I see on Unilocal is that things are not done in a timely manner but if you read carefully these people are expecting things to be done within days. For anyone who knows about Indian weddings/​outfits it can take MONTHS to perfect an outfit to your wants/​needs! You need to plan accordingly and get things done in advance rather than wait last minute and then complain about it on Unilocal.I will be getting married in April and my outfits were chosen in October so that we had enough time to make sure they came out perfect and no alterations were rushed. I am three weeks out to my wedding and JUST picked up my outfits today. Can’t blame a boutique if you don’t give them enough time!
Overall I owe Sari Palace a lot more than a thank you. They literally are making my dreams come true with how perfect my outfits came out! And let me tell you, I am one picky lady when it comes to my outfits. They have to be PERFECT or I don’t want it at all. There is no other place in the Bay Area that I could recommend that is better than Sari Palace. They will definitely be getting more business from me in the near future!

Sari palace is my go to place! The staff is very helpful and polite and the owners are the best! They always have the latest designs and styles fit for the perfect occasion. Also they have a tailor upstairs to assist with alteration. Very convenient. Highly recommend stopping by if your looking for elegant, one of a kind and quality clothing.

I am an extremely picky bitch… Not going to lie. I found both the service and the quality of the goods excellent. The woman (owner) was so helpful. I found two items that were to die for. I am Indian too and for the most part find other Indians not my cup of tea. I try to avoid them if possible. Not here. I would go back in a heartbeat.

I have always Loved Bollywood movies since childhood so when it came to my bridal shower I wanted it to be Bollywood inspired. The ladies there are very attentive but I felt rushed into purchasing my sari. Confession, I had second thoughts about it once I got home, but in the end it looked very pretty on me so I was really satisfied. I ended up going back to get bangles for myself & a bunch of bangles & bindis for party favors. Tips: bargain, bargain, bargain!

I first talked to many Indian ladies and told me what it SHOULD cost and not to pay over. Sari Palace charged me exactly what these ladies told me what a reasonable price should be. I’ve read people claim if you’re white you will get charged double… I’m whiter than white, covered in tattoos and they treated me great! Everyone was so helpful and sweet. Maybe if you do your homework and don’t walk in with a bad attitude you’ll get better service? In my line of work that’s how I do it…
I’m more than happy with the quality of work, it was a rush job and needed the whole thing done in 3 days! The owner went out of his way to accommodate me and even had to take it to Fremont after his seamstress fell ill and needed help… Because they guaranteed me it would be done! That’s some amazing customer service!
Ill definitely be back for my wedding outfit and all the future suits and lenghas!

To someone who is challenging me saying she/​he is whiter than white and have a tattoo — you went for an alteration, I am talking about ready to wear clothing. This store might have paid them to write this 5 star review. I knew the owner, his wife, daughter and entire family personally for years — someone with a bad attitude doesn’t take the trouble to know the store owners personally, get along great with them and give them thousands of dollars of business over the course of years hence please do not judge like that. It’s because of my history with the store that I was so shocked.
Please do not shop at this place. Going to the Peninsula or towards South Bay to shop for Indian clothes is 1000 times better than shopping here. I used to buy at least 1 – 2 ethnic Indian clothing every month from this place for two years and they would sell me each item at a 50% discount. When I purchased something from here or just about anything, they would give a straight up 50% discount on each (I don’t know how many people know of this but all my friends who shop here are still given that 50% discount). The owner of this store used to tell me — «We do this for all our customers. The prices marked on the item is just for the sake of it. Anyone who buys from our store gets a straight up 50% discount.»
I used to get that discount and used to shop very often at this place until one day I got married and went to this store with my caucasian husband to shop for some clothes for us. The owner did not even recognize me! Someone who has shopped every month for 2 years suddenly the owner has no recollection of who I am, wow! Selected two sherwanis for my husband and two salwar kameez for myself and guess what? They charge me the full price that’s marked on the items and don’t honor the 50% discount that they did for two years and when I asked the owner «What happened?» he says «We don’t offer any 50% discount we never did or do». Now that’s really funny because a dozen and more of my Indian friends in East Bay still shop here and still get that 50% discount.
I was aghast and bewildered! I figured they clearly did that out of discrimination towards my husband as he is non-​Indian and were intentionally charging us the full price. If you are non-​Indian, want to shop here and do not care about their high prices then fine, but if you do care then please do not shop here! It’s better to buy from a business where people are not discriminated against.
I walked out of the store without buying anything and never coming back. Their entire way of doing business is a scam. I do not recommend shopping here.

I got my nikkah lengha from Sari Palace last March. I had been searching high and low for months where I live (Los Angeles) and either couldn’t find anything I like, or if I did like something it was outrageously expensive.
I went on a quick trip to SF for my birthday and while we were there he suggested we stop by the shops in Berkeley just to see.
The ladies were very helpful and the first lengha they pulled out for me turned out to be the one! We got it the same day and they altered it for me right away (for free), so we were able to leave with it within a few hours. Amazing service. I loved my lengha and got so many compliments on it — the skirt is made of pure silk with amazing swarovski stones as well as on the blouse and dupatta. I ended up getting my jewelry from Little India in Artesia when we got home, but that’s okay.
I’m so happy I found this place :) if I ever need another fancy outfit I’ll definitely drive all the way back to Berkeley.

My all time favorite indian clothing store!
This place is clean, organized, spacious, and I love that they have a huge selection of clothes. I’m EXTREMELY hard to satisfy when shopping for clothes esp indian clothes.
They have quality pieces and their sales people aren’t pushy or annoying. A majority of my indian outfits are from Sari Palace and a lot of them are timeless outfits that I have worn for many years and will continue to wear for years down the line because the quality is so good. They will also custom fit outfits for you on the spot for little to no cost, and have it done the same day.
Sari Palace is a little bit on the expensive side, but I’m more than willing to pay the extra $ for great quality, beautiful fabrics, custom fitting, and great service.
Love this place and with all the indian clothing stores on University Ave this is the ONLY place fulfills my Bollywood diva demands ;)

We’ve gone to other shops in Berkeley and usually you get no help at all. Not at Sari Palace, everybody here is so helpful from the store manager to the seamstress. We have come to this place 4 – 5 times in the past 1 – 2 months and every time they are eager and very patience in helping us, trust me that is hard to find when it comes to Indian stores.
Also they are not racist or prejudice like some other Indian suit shops in Berkeley. The color of your skin doesn’t matter here, for my Non-​Indian peeps I totally recommend this place!!!

Their sign don’t say «Price Match Guarantee» or «Lowest Prices in Town» but they are after comparing their prices to other stores around Berkeley. My old lady bought all her suits here, her bridesmaid suits, jewelry, etc… I also bought my men’s suit here and one for my little brother as well all were excellently priced. My mom even came by the other weekend to pick out some suits for herself just because!?!

We tried to go the online route for the fiancé’s Bridesmaid dresses, and we learned our lesson the hard way as the company (UTSAV Fashion) ruined all the bridesmaid dresses and we still have yet to get a refund. Some were missing buttons, sizes were wrong, but the worst part was that some of the dresses were the wrong color…6 weeks away from the wedding and we have no bridesmaid dress… SARI PALACE to the rescue!!!
We told them exactly what we wanted and they spent a lot of time taking in each detail of the dresses to appease to our liking. They promised that we would have a bridesmaid dresses within 5 – 6 weeks, heck they got it done in 3.5 weeks flat. The dresses came out looking exactly how we wanted and the quick turn-​around time of Sari Palace left me speechless.

Other Indian Suit Shops in Berkley and around the bay area should take notes because this is how you run a business… I would give them a 6 Star Rating if it is possible, but since I can’t I’ll just give them a 5++++++ star rating!!!
