Rebecca is a natural dancer and enjoys sharing her passion for movement. Her enthusiasm and love around dance, music, and teaching comes together seamlessly as a salsa dance instructor of five years (and counting!) in the East Bay. Rebecca has taught in Oakland, California at Lake Merrit Dance Center and is now teaching in Berkeley, CA at The Works Coop on Telegraph. She’s performed and taught dance in the San Francisco bay area with great success with Juan Gil of salsawithjuan [dot]com. She is currently studying Belly Dance in Albany with Suhalia at suhailainternational[dot]com with the intention of teaching and performing in 2012. Rebecca has been described by her students as a patient, caring, warm, and fun instructor. Rebecca is currently teaching on Monday nights in Berkeley at The Works on Telegraph (works-exercise[dot]com).

I’d give 10 stars if I could. Rebecca is so patient and fundamentals are crucial, this is where she makes the class shine. Most places I’ve been move to intermediate levels too fast, Rebecca leaves no one behind. You will never find better bang for the buck in getting Salsa lessons.

I decided to take salsa lessons at the behest of my Colombian girlfriend. Previously I’d never really considered salsa, but taking private lessons with Rebecca has really changed my whole perspective – it went from an obligation to a real joy.
Rebecca teaches in a way that both puts me at ease and inspires me. I have only good things to say about her as a teacher, and I would recommend her to anyone wanting to learn.

For our wedding we booked a salsa band (Los Boleros — check ‘em out!), and we wanted to take salsa dance lessons leading up to the big day. Our band introduced us to Rebecca, and we signed up for her beginning salsa class to learn the basics, as well as a few private sessions to perfect our wedding first dance.
Rebecca was great! She worked with us patiently and enthusiastically, helping us master the basic steps during the month-​long class, and then helping us perfect our technique and teaching us a few special moves to wow our wedding guests during our private sessions.
We also hired her to give a dance lesson at the wedding itself for our guests, and we were very glad we did! She got everyone on the floor learning salsa moves, which kickstarted the dance party.
Overall, we really enjoyed working with Rebecca and the outcomes were great! We got lots of compliments at our wedding both about our first dance, and also about how much fun our guests had during the salsa lesson. All in all, a great success!

I have been studying with her for 3 years and followed her to her new location. Her class makes me happy and a better dancer. Plus I’ve met some amazing people in her class.

Rebecca, like many salsa teachers, is an absolutely gorgeous dancer. However, she (unlike many salsa teachers) is a natural born teacher. She is fantastic at breaking everything down and her classes are fun and challenging and extremely comfortable. This is a great place to try salsa for the first time in the beginning class, or learn more complex moves in the intermediate & advanced classes.

Rebecca is a natural dancer whose vivacious energy, spirit, and passion emits onto her avid students. She bestows confidence and style to even the beginners with two left feet. You leave the studio ‘jazzed up’ wanting more. Don’t just take my word for it … check her out … alone or with friends. The experience is well worth the trip to Berkeley, wherever you are. I took one lesson from her, and was hooked!!!

I think it is so important to have a teacher who is approachable and makes the class a fun, friendly place. I’ve taken Salsa lessons from Rebecca for 2 years, and she has brought me from a scared beginner to an advanced, confident dancer. She gives her students the personal attention they need to feel comfortable as a beginner and to hone their skills along the way. Her totally upbeat, bubbly personality keeps bringing me back to class even when I feel too tired to go, cause I know she’ll get me dancin and loving it. She is an experienced and knowledgeable dancer, with the skill and expertise to teach students of all levels. I appreciate that she shows us not only patterns, but has the philosophy that teaching with an emphasis on building a strong foundation will allow people to develop their own unique style of dance (rather than having to fit into a cookie-​cutter mold of Salsa dance).
