We LOVED this little place. The owners were very very personal, caring and friendly. The food was delicious! Wish the curry had more salt but everything was so flavorful. There was a nice surprise at the end that was tasty and unique. The lighting was warm and not florescent like many places.

This is my favorite Thai place in the east bay hands down! I’ve been coming here for years and have yet to have a bad meal. The owner and staff are super-friendly and the food is delicious! Plus the portions are insane for the price!

Omg this was THEBEST Thai food had outside of Thailand(and we eat Thai several days a week in SF area as its our favorite)!!! And service is 5 stars too!!! Had fried pumpkin appetizer and green papaya salad. both awesome and huge! Ordered Green Curry with just veggies and it was soooo incredibly delicious!!! We love spicy but medium spicy here is equivalent to hot elsewhere. Got the earthy crunchy brown rice with it and they gave us white rice too. Everyone else loved their dishes too. I wouldnt call this a hole in the wall at all. Its nicely decorated with art sculptures. Can’t wait to return and try other things on their menu. Food is so awesome!!! Highly, highly recommend!!!

Hole. In. The. Wall. Some places are a good hole in the wall, this isn’t. It’s just a gaping hole. With flies. The worst duck ever. EVER!!! Even the person who recommended this place said it tasted rancid. RANCID!!! YOUFRIGGINGRECOMMENDEDTHISPLACE!!! We will now stop being friends with you. How many bad restaurants do you have to go through to stop being friends with someone? Or we just won’t eat out with this friend ever again. Her noodle dish was not great either but at least better than the duck. No wonder the place next door was packed and this restaurant was almost empty. The wait staff was not that friendly either. The guy who probably was the owner was very friendly but he left just after delivering some produce. The prices were cheap, but you get what you pay for.

This place is great and has been for many years. I have played many times at Ashkenaz, down the street and this is always the pre-gig go to. Very friendly service and excellent Thai food. I’ve eaten at dozens of Thai restaurants in my life from Boston, NY, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Sam Francisco, Etc. This place stacks up, pound for pound my favorite Thai in the east bay. The only bummer is that the owner used to always be in here and I haven’t seen him the last few times. He never let us order off the menu, he’d always ask what we liked and then bring out some awesome concocted dish from the back. Apparently he’s only here on weekends now. They don’t do customer service like that anywhere these days. Lastly, I’ll say I saw a comment to never go here, man, some people are so pretentious and have no idea what Thai food should really taste like. Keep it up Sabuy Sabuy 2(which is superior to Sabuy Sabuy on College Ave.) 5 stars because I can’t give 6!

The food was actually very good. However, I was dissatisfied with the service. They’re machine to provide hot tea was broken. The server dropped my fork and then gave it to me. They had a minimum on credit cards and didn’t tell me until it was time to pay, luckily I had cash.

I had their chicken rice curry dish and veggie like soup. It was okay, definitely spicy. I liked the spicy part because it cleaned out my sinuses fast. Broth was lacking some depth. Table felt sticky. If I had the urge to go Thai, I would come back but I’m the sort that would adventurously try others to get an idea as to what’s possibly better in Berkeley.

Came by for dinner the other night and it was a decent experience. Restaurant is located on San Pablo and parking was easy. The restaurant was rather basic inside and service was friendly. Started off with the Nuer Dad Diow which came out like beef jerky. It wasn’t super flavorful. Moved on to the Pad Khee Mao Seafood and the noodles were fresh and the dish was slightly spicy. The seafood was of decent quality. Garlic Pepper Prawns were a miss. It seemed like a simple dish and didn’t really surprise me. Crispy Duck w/Green Curry was the highlight of the meal. Duck was crispy but slightly dry. There was tons of spinach which contrasted well with the green curry. They do accept credit cards but they lost power just as we were about to pay… ~$ 31 after tax and tip for dinner.

Got seated and was ready to order and then was told to leave, we really felt a bit of racism in that place, and we’re Asian also, I recommend don’t go there we definitely won’t, thumbs down

Don’t eat here. These people kicked my friends and myself out after they seated us. They wanted to make room for other customers who weren’t even there. It would have beed fine if they told us at the door that they were full at the door, but these a**holes had their manners and common sense removed at birth. I would come here unless I wanted to be insulted and disappointed.

Dont go here!!!(Please read below to know why.) The first time we went here we were excited to try a new place that is close to home. We got in and nothing special with the dining chairs, table or wall décor. We were hungry so we decided to stay and give it a try. We ordered the pad see ew, tom yum gang, pineapple fried rice and sticky rice w/mango. we waited and waited for our order for almost 30mins and let me just say that when we got our food, the portions were small and it was just ok. The second time we went, to give it another try, we got seated then a few minutes later got kicked out from our table for no reason. They didnt even offer the other empty table to us. We were curious why but we couldn’t think of any reason. And because of that we will never ever going back there again. So next time, we will just go to our usual place.

The food is alright, nothing great. If you’re in dire need of Thai food and/or want it for a fairly low price, this is the place to go. I ordered a green chicken curry, and the chicken was very dry. The waitress was very polite though, so that’s always a plus. I’ll probably go to this place again if I really want Thai food that’s close by, but it won’t be for a long time.

I ordered tilapia, egg plant & fresh fig cooked in garlic sauce. It was incredible. Didn’t taste MSG. Staffs were prompt & friendly. Good price. I wish it had parking space but its worth it. It’s one of my favorite Thai place in Berkeley.

I stumbled upon this place on Unilocal while looking for a place to have a quiet and low key Valentine’s day dinner over a year ago. Big mistake as they were completely booked for the night since we didn’t make reservations. The place is tiny, having only about 6 tables that seat 4 per table. We ended up coming back another time and ordered the pad Thai, papaya salad and fried chicken wings. Since this was our first time, we didn’t realize how spicy they made it. When asked how spicy we wanted everything, we said spicy. Big mistake as my mouth was numb after a few bites. Second time around we ordered medium and it was much better. This has been my go-to thai place ever since. The owner is super friendly and always greets you with a smile. At the end of the meal, they even give you complementary homemade ice cream. And all of the flavors are unique.. No boring chocolate and vanilla,. I’m talking about banana raisin rum, or spicy strawberry sorbet. Papaya salad is a must. Pad thai and pad kee Mao are delicious. Fried chicken wings and fried fish are also tastey. If you don’t know what to get, ask the owner for suggestions as he’s always willing to do so. I usually go for medium spicy but if you’re uneasy about that tell them to make it mild and add your own spices from their spice rack. On Fridays and weekends it gets busy for dinner so call in ahead of time to make a reservation. Also the thai iced tea is good too, its not ridiculously sweet like other places.

Debated knocking this down to two stars, but I’ll leave it at three since the service was just so darn good here. The food was OK, light on the protean compared to some other places I’ve been, but for the price of the dishes, can’t complain. Would have liked to see our entrees come out at kinda the same time, minor nit, but the place didn’t seem to be that busy, so why not? Was almost finished with the first one before the second came out. The hot sauce plate is great, ask for it if you go, since they don’t seem to bring it out by default. Has 4 different kinds and the flavors are all great. Why almost two stars then? There was plastic in our noodle dish. Yep, that’s right, plastic. Not a hair or something small that could be discounted, but multiple quarter sized pieces of plastic. No bueno. So ya, just OK. Really great value, but will probably pass in the future.

Came here on a Saturday night around 7:30 and it was busy but not crowded. You walk in, there are tables to the sides and a hole in the wall straight ahead where you check in or pick up your food to go. I quickly got a table. Items ordered: Chicken Satay $ 7– pretty yummy. 5 chicken skewers with ok peanut sauce and ok cucumber salad. I added hot sauce to the peanut sauce to jazz it up. Mango Salad $ 9ish– yes it is very yummy. Crunchy green mango shreds with ground beef or shrimp on top in a lime onion mix. Super fresh and tantalizing. I really liked it. Green Curry w Chicken $ 9ish– very good.(I still love panang curry the most). It had very thin potato slices, cucumber, red and green bell pepper and chicken. Thai style rice w prawns– $ 9ish– also very delicious! Thai iced tea $ 2.50– Very good. Not too sweet or creamy. But they don’t have refills.(I ordered 2) Dessert-(free) bland mango sorbet and icy(not tasty) chocolate«sorbet.» Service– the waitress was not very good. The food arrived quickly, in order, and the perfect temperatures. The presentation was lovely and the flavors were amazing(check out all the 4&5 star reviews!) The owner guy is very nice and helpful. But the waitress is a whole other story. She didnt check in on me ATALL.(The owner guy did twice). She didnt acknowledge when I said«thanks» when she served the food. She was extremely helpful to the nit-picky older couple next to me(which bugged me as I was struggling to get the last of my thai tea left on the ice cubes since she didnt offer me another glass!). THENSHEDIDNTOFFERMECOMPLIMENTARYICECREAMTHAT I NOTICEDHERSERVETOANOTHERTABLE(ANDTHANKSTO UnilocalPICTURES) SO I ASKEDHERFORIT! I was mad so I didn’t leave a tip. I was that mad. I’m a good tipper too. Whatever. The food was amazing. I’ll definitely be back and I hope she doesn’t «serve» me again!
