I’m sad to hear that Rebecca’s Books is closing. Please go buy as much stuff as possible before they close! I think everything is 50% off. Good luck with your future endeavors, Mary! Thanks for the great books I still enjoy to this day.

OK… so I stopped by this wonderful bookstore today with my friend, Theresa R., because of a review I had read on Unilocal written by Rebecca R.(a splendid reviewer of spots in the Bay Area). I went there with certain expectations, though I really try my best to live a life free of them, because Rebecca R. had given this special place such a fabulous review. As soon as I entered this quaint purveyor of fine words I was immediately struck by the great many selections of truly thought provoking and soul inspiring works of fiction and non-fiction. As a former peace activist and life-long author I was, and am, impressed, indeed, with the authors and titles I found between those four walls as well as the care that has gone into each selection that is sold there. If you seek to read books that motivate you to be a better citizen of your community and of the world, if you yearn to read words written by people of color that move the soul to the greatest of heights, and if you find that supporting local businesses who struggle to compete with the corporations that can always undersell them is something that is of importance to you, well… then you truly must do yourself a favor(as well as all of the other lives you will touch as a result) and visit this amazing place located on Adeline and Alcatraz in South Berkeley. You will meet Mary Ann, the mother of this child, and you shall fall in love. Happy reading!!!
