DO NOT!!! I REPEAT DO NOT STAY HERE! AVOID THIS JUNK PLACE! So we get it, it’s a quality Inn hotel. The name says it all. BUT little did we expect that when we paid they would give us a room that had a NON WORKING TOILET! We went and told the front office and they refused to give us a new room or our money back saying they’d fix it tomorrow. Ok really?! Oh and while we were here there was a guy next door complaining that they had no water. This place is horrible. I get it, it’s a cheaply place to spend the night it’s a low end place but to give us a room with no working toilets or hot water it’s a rip off!
The guy at the front office told us to wait 30 minutes and he would get us a new room. It has no been more than 30 and we didn’t hear anything from him. This place is full of shit!

Not Happy when Two Phone Chargers got Stolen out of Room… Management said House Keeping didn’t do it. Which was Bullshit… Dishonest Bussiness… That’s all I have to Say about that…

This has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. No ice, towels very limited, andthe walls are so thin you can hear the people on all sides. It’s also overpriced. There are not very many hotels in Berkeley so we had no choice but to stay there beware

This motel was very clean with amenities, for the rate. Great bed. well stocked. free continental breakfast. Front desk staff very nice-​I asked if I may print something and they did it no problem, as a courtesy. University Ave a rough area — car and valuables must be watched.

This place wasn’t that great for the price. I paid $ 300 for two nights and they couldn’t even guarantee parking. The guy at the front desk told me to park on the street. Front desk was rude.

Decent enough place at a moderate price (for the Bay Area) — Quiet small rooms in a much remodeled building. You get the basics — very surprised how quiet and peaceful it was. Slept well in a comfortable bed.
2 things negative — as others have said — get there early if you want to park there. and in my case the room was OK for cleaning — except for the floor (laminate) — it was filthy. (like theater floor sticky) Sinks, tub, linens were fine and clean. So, a good value for the money — but needs to work on cleaning.

This is my first visit on a quality inn hotel (and my second visit to a hotel). First of all I like the place especially with the free internet. Yet I do like the free breakfast and they got the fruits, sausage, and eggs. Also the coffee is good and also they had juice too. The beds were comfortable and television was also great. This is a good hotel for those who want to visit the campus for a tour or a graduation. I recommend this place.

Low «Quality inn» This is nothing special, I have had rooms for ¹⁄₃ the price that were the same quality, I guess the price is just based on location… I tried checking in early, which is not a problem in most places, but they would not let me check in before 2 (no rooms were ready), and when I did, they still weren’t done with the room, as I was bringing my things into the room, a employee walked in with the coffee, then over an hour after being in the room, I am in my boxers and about to get in the shower when a maid walks in on me! I think she was more embarrassed than me though lol! Room was a little dirty, food from the last person still in the fridge, hole in the wall from the door handle, no shower curtain, scuff marks and nastiness on the walls and door… not up to par for the 110 $ price! Room is much smaller than the pictures led me to believe and it is very crowded! The 2 power outlets (4 plugs) that were easily accessible, neither worked! I had to move the dresser to access the only other outlet that I could reach with my laptop power cord from the desk! I would not recommend this place, I stayed a block away the night before for a lower price, larger and cleaner room, and no one walked in on me in my underwear! I usually go for the best price and if this place was about 30−50% cheaper, I would stay again, but the way it sits, I will pay more for a better place next time!

The Quality Inn– what can I say? I think my wife summed it up best when she said, «A 2-​star hotel doesn’t have to try this hard to stay a 2-​star hotel!»
I’ve stayed at this location numerous times over the last 26 years… under different brands, under different management. In those 26 years: somethings have changed; and some things haven’t.
Have:
Brand, newer carpet, paint, furniture, fixtures, breakfast
Haven’t:
faulty plumbing, faulty management, faulty repairs
While the place looks better from the outside, and the inside at first glance, you quickly realize that it’s still the Flamingo Motel with new paint. You see, many of the older motels/​hotels in Berkeley have overwhelmed facilities and when too many customers use the waterworks at the same time, things start backing up. It was common then, as it is now, to wake up and find your sink or tub backed up with dirty water (if you slept in). You have to wait a while for them to drain in order to rinse out your tub to take a shower… fun! Now, while the facilities look better, they don’t function better. We had a fancy, dark-​stained, wood sink cabinet with a fancy sandblasted glass bowl and single-​handle chrome faucet. you turned the lever on the faucet and instead of the water coming on, the entire faucet turned with the handle. You had to hold the faucet body and turn the handle to provide water. There was a throw rug in our room that was kind of off-​center in regards to the path of traffic, it was covering a huge hole in the rug that had been there for a while. The walls in about 3 rooms that I looked into had holes behind the doors from people kicking in the doors when entering. How hard is it to put in a door/​handle bumper to prevent this from happening? How hard is it to fix the wall? I went back and complained upon check in because online, the hotel states ALL non-​smoking rooms. The first room they gave us was indeed a smoking room and they had tried to mask the odor by dousing the room in air freshener, everything I touched was wet. The second room was ok (odor-​wise).
I will say that the breakfast provided was not that bad. Location was also excellent, a couple of blocks from downtown Berkeley and the University.
All in all, the negatives outweigh the positives. I liked it better when it was the Flamingo Motel… it only cost $ 60/​night then, at least you knew exactly what you were getting. The Quality Inn now charges $ 150/night…and not much has changed. I expected more for my money.

The nice Holiday Inn was full so I had to stay here. I won’t anymore. It’s way overpriced — worth about ½ what I had to pay — but it’s in overpriced Berkeley so…
Cramped, dull, and old, limited parking. The location is good as there are places to eat all around.

There are locks on the door and schedules and check out times and list to know if a room is vacant to be able to go in and clean.
We had not left, we were sleeping, and we wake up to a man opening, looking at us, and then closes the door and the man’s wife tried to say it was her who opened the door… I saw the man and he just stood there, then closed the door. Didn’t even refund the money for the invasion of privacy.

The location for this hotel is great! Walking distance from U.C. Berkeley, with tons of eating options nearby.
Cleanliness was a bit of an issue. On our way out I realized that sheets had a small blood stain on them.
The breakfast was a joke. It was picked clean in short amount of time. Another guest told us he got a cup of coffee only one of his six days. what was left of breakfast at 9am was bruised, nasty apples, a bagel and a half, an old sausage patty, some cereal, and some milk that may have been left out too long.
I went looking for a plastic knife for my bagel, and looked in the back room of the breakfast area. What I found was a bathroom/​food prep area (incidentally, the toilet seat was left up).
Disgusting.

I have stayed here twice and each time was very pleasant and it’s conveniently located to all the cool trendy spots in Berkeley.
The rooms are not huge but they are very clean, bed bug free and have all the amenities necessary for a comfortable stay.
Hot breakfast is included and features eggs, sausage, toast, fruit, yogurt, pastries and much more.
The price is very affordable for the location and the staff is very friendly.
I would stay here again and definitely recommend this hotel.

Quality Inn is OK. It’s right off the freeway on University Ave, so it’s easy to find if you’re coming from out of town. Reasonable rates for the Bay Area, clean atmosphere, small rooms (made even smaller with a king size bed) with satellite TV and a good sized bathroom. They offer a complimentary continental breakfast which is pretty decent.
Two things kept me from giving a better rating. First, the parking lot isn’t large enough to accomodate all guests (I’d estimate maybe half the guests can park there) and the lot was full when we arrived, so we had to find street parking. Univesity isn’t that bad of a street but the area around the hotel was kinda sketch. We had to walk a couple blocks through transients and weed-​smoking loiterers, in cold windy rainy weather. Blech.
Second, at around 9am the housekeeping staff came through. I know this because we were woken up by a maid opening our door– which in a small square room with no hallway, she opened it up to see us in bed– saying «Whoops!», then closing the door. I realize we forgot to put the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign out, but the door was locked and what happened to knocking and announcing «housekeeping» BEFORE entering? Geez.

Affordable, if cramped (I don’t know how the average sized American would even make it between the bed & dresser in our room…). Unfortunately, the service was quite poor. The first day I needed to run an emergency errand early, so I left without showering (did brush my teeth & wash my face — I am not a slob!), & came back to find my room made up BUT NO TOWELS were left. When I tracked down the cleaning staff, they explained my towels were in the washing machine. Um, you only have one set per room? NO extras at all? We didn’t leave them thrown around so that we would get fresh ones every day; we would have been fine with the ones we had. Usually most hotels only replace the floor mat towel on day 1, unless you request otherwise, but since I wrecked my knee falling in a bathroom earlier this year, there is no way I am going to risk showering without a floor mat to step on when I get out, so even if they had only taken that, I was still in trouble. I asked them to bring me towels as soon as they were dry. Four hours later, I needed to track them down to get towels so I could finally take a shower. I guess they forgot?
In the meantime, I found the staff’s wet & dirty cleaning cloth thrown on my clean clothes in my room, on top of my suitcase. This is NEVER acceptable. I understand that the cleaning staff might forget things occasionally — fine. BUT they should never ever put dirty cleaning supplies on ANYTHING belonging to the customer. There is just no excuse for this at all. But when we complained, the cleaners just stared as if they could not understand why that was a problem, & the front desk staff blew it off entirely, saying, «I’ll mention it to them». No apology for dirtying my clothes.
Coffee maker spewed out watery coffee (it was transparent — I am not joking). Breakfast was not bad for the price but ran out of everything within the last hour. (We only had yogourt one of the three days). Wi fi kicked in & out. We are guessing that was because the hotel had no vacancy for at least one of the nights, & the full house was straining the system.
I’d give them a 3 if it wasn’t for the cleaning cloth thrown on my clothes, & their wholly inadequate response to our complaint.

We chose this hotel for it’s closeness in vicinity to the greek theater. It was a moderate uphill walk, but was only about a mile so we we’re very pleased! The staff was helpful, the beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was above average quality. They had hot eggs and sausage for a bagel sandwich, and yogurt too! Would definitely stay here again when I am headed to the Greek to see a show!

If your in the Berkeley area and your in need of a quick night inn. This place is it!
The Pros: Is that you get a flat screen w/​HD cable TV, Coffee Maker, small closet, wide sink, bath, yadi, yada, yada, yada… whatever its complete here.
The Cons: Weak cell phone signals here, going 4G is a pain, use their free WiFi it helps a little bit. Rooms are decent but having a king sized bed inside takes up a lot of room. Ouch! how many times must my knee hits the corner of the bed? My other gripe is that the pillows are too small, you can’t even use them for pillow fights but just throw them at people.
The Dream: I just had a moment of two hot Berkeley chicks in Victoria Secret lingerie pillow fighting on that comfy king size… feathers flying everywhere… sigh… bummer.
The Service and The Free: You get a friendly front desk lady, free parking, free wifi and don’t forget to get a couple of free sweet bear claws for breakfast.
QUICK TIP OF THE DAY: The shampoo here smells like my grandpa’s pomade, so bring your own Head & Shoulders.

I called this hotel to make a reservation, but in the middle of my call, the concierge yelled at someone in the background and threw down the receiver. I called back later after unsuccessfully trying to make reservations elsewhere, and the concierge quoted me a price $ 10 higher than the online price at the choice hotels website. I booked the room online instead.
When my family and I got to the hotel, we were a bit shocked at the size of the room. It reminded me of a tiny Paris hotel room I stayed in many years ago. The space between the beds and the wall was no more than two feet, which was barely wide enough to allow two people to pass through. As a matter of fact, the bathroom seemed to be half the size of the room, which is not a good thing.
The stay itself was quiet and comfortable, even in the small room. I would stay there again if the price came down a bit.

Not at all a bad place to stay. Kind staff, efficient ammeneties, slight smell of smoke drifted through the vents, but all in all not a bad place to stay on a budget. Parking can be tight/​busy/​full.
Stayed here for a few days while apartment hunting.
