Nicholas Tapia & Stephanie Berg

Nicholas and Stephanie are great teachers. Their brilliance in teaching is so subtle that their skills can be under appreciated at times. They’re highly trained in dance, and passionate about tango.
Steph is a badass. She teaches like a ninja, coming in so quietly and unexpectedly and then hitting you with a piece of advice on your dancing that will leave your head spinning for days. Months later, you think, «OH MY GOD that was such a good way of putting that» and «SERIOUSLY, how did she know to say it in that way so that I would listen and work on it and not feel that I suck?.» I am constantly wowed by the realizations in the subtlety of her teaching.
Nick is comical and highly adaptive. He has a lot of energy and flexibility of teaching, and helps make you excited about doing the simplest of things. He makes you laugh with nerdy puns.
Together, they are a fantastic, loving, power couple that inspire me in not just tango, but my encourage me to nourish the part of myself that makes me a better person. They really care about you not just as a student, but as a person.
I’ve taken both group classes and privates from both of them. Group classes are fun and challenging! Don’t be fooled with the simplicity of what they ask of you. If you really listen to what they’re asking it can be immensely rewarding. Privates are immeasurably helpful, and they encourage engaged learning. They welcome dance questions all the time, they are huge dance nerds!
If you’re the type of person who cares about getting good for reals, take their classes. They’re the best teachers I’ve ever had, not just in tango, but in the entirety of my academic education.
