History

Established in 1998.

It all started in a kitchen. Not a garage like most Bay Area startups. Of course the kitchen was the perfect place for former chemistry teacher Marie Veronique Nadeau to experiment. Fueled by a desire to age gracefully, she created a line of ecologically responsible, natural and transformative anti-aging products. At 66, Marie’s smooth skin is living proof that our products work wonders.

Like mother, like daughter. Dr. Jay Nadeau followed in her mother’s scientific footsteps, becoming a Professor of Physics at McGill University. She regularly consults with the company to integrate the best of science and nature into our products.

Science and nature have a good thing going. That’s why we pay attention to both so diligently. We use scientific studies and direct research to better understand the aging process. Then, we turn to nature to find ingredients to minimize or counter those effects. No toxins. Not ever.

Business Owner

Marie Veronique Nadeau founded Marie Veronique over 10 years ago and is a nationally recognized formulator and beauty expert. She collaborates with her daughter, Jay Nadeau, physicist and bio-medical engineer, to carefully choose each ingredient in her products to address the causes of aging at the source. Marie holds a BS in Math and Chemistry as well as an esthetics license from Paris Beauty College. She is a mother of two and a grandmother of one. When she is not developing cutting-edge skincare products, she can be found reading at her local library or foraging for mushrooms with her granddaughter.

I have been using the tinted sunscreen for over a year and I love it because it doesn’t break me out and controls my oil while giving me good coverage. I ran out, so I went to the shop to get more. The lady that helped me was nice and gave me many samples. I also got a stocking stuffer because it was a Christmas special. The products are made in-house at that Berkeley store, except for the sunscreen. That is made in the lab. I love organic products, but most of them don’t work well for me until now. :) Marie really knows her stuff!

I have been using the tinted sunscreen and face oil for more than 2 years and that’s all i needed on my face. Few months back, my skin started reacting to almost everything, and I tried a few different products, but nothing worked. Then, 3 months back I was in Berkeley, visited the store and met Marie. I spoke to her about my concerns and she gave me a ton of samples to try and I fell in love with the new PRO line! My skin has cleared and is the best it’s been in the last few years. I use the cleanser de jour, profoliation mask and at night — the retinol serum and lightening serum. My skin is glowing now! Thanks Marie!

Holy GOOD SKIN!
The Marie Veronique Advanced product line has changed the condition of my skin from good to spectacular in a matter of weeks. I have naturally dry, hyper pigmented skin, and Marie Veronique’s products have shifted my visage to a glowing and radiant suppleness.
My favorite Marie Veronique products are the Lactic Acid Peel, Exfoliating Cleanser, Oil du Jour, Facial Mist, and Skin Lightening Serum.

I absolutely love this line — it works great, is all natural, and I love the earthy organic smell (at first I was a little put off by the smell, but as it turns out, it grows on you). It’s moderately pricey stuff to be sure, but worth it and far less than some other brands I have used in the past. I like the gentle cleanser, anti-aging mist, anti-aging oil plus, and face screen day moisturizer (which is tinted and provides a sheer, but smooth base for makeup). I initially tried this brand when I switched to non-toxic makeup and skincare about 5 months ago, but I think this brand sells itself, regardless of whether you are trying to be eco-friendly or not. I didn’t especially love the evening moisturizer, but I find that using the oil alone is enough, so no complaints. I no longer live in No. Cal, so I order this from their website — in fact, the reason I was comfortable to try this line is they were willing to take it back if I didn’t like it and they shipped it for free. Definitely not an issue! I can’t wait to visit them when I’m in town in June.

i have ultra sensitive dry rosacea prone skin. many over the counter cosmetics irritate my skin. i had heard about marie’s products and decided to give them a try. if you live close enough you can check out her studio/lab for yourself.
marie is knowledgable, kind, generous, and really cares about making safe, effective products. she will help you pick out the best products for your skin.
yes her products are expensive, but the quality of the ingredients is top self. even if you only get one of her products either a hydraton mist, a serum or her organic sunscreen your skin will thank you.
after using her products my skin is calmer, smooth, moist, and über– soft.

What a fantastic person Marie is. Knowledgeable, personable and just glowing. Her skincare is the BEST and I can attest she knows of what she speaks and has put that in the bottle!!! You must try her skincare especially her SERUMS. There is nothing on the market as good. Go, go now and get a sample, try it on one side of your face and your old (& not as good) skincare on the other. You will see a difference immediately (the proof is in the puddin’ as they say).

I love love love Marie’s products. I recently was pregnant so finding an organic line that did not have any harsh chemicals added was important to me. Marie Veronique’s products are safe for pregnant women and nursing women… which is great. The Overture and Nocturne Oils are wonderful. The Jade Cleanser is also great. I am loving the Serumdipity right now but excited to try the other serums as well. All in all, this is my new favorite line of skin care.

I found Marie Veronique through a search a I did with the
. It’s a great source for finding out what risk certain chemicals and ingredients are to our skin and sometimes even health.
I was originally doing a search on products I was using, and although they were pretty clean, I clicked on additional products that scored a lot lower on toxicity. This was how I found Marie Veronique, which BTW rated a mere 1 (scale of 1 – 10) for toxicity in their sunscreens.)
After browsing the site, I was amazed at the ingredients and impressed by the reviews. I ended up purchasing the crème du jour spf 30 in the tinted version. I received it yesterday and after using it am so far very impressed with how’s stayed on and even managed to even up some of my skin tone. But even more so, it’s the first sun screen I’ve tried that didn’t irritate or break out my skin and is essentially oil free. This company has also signed the compact for safer cosmetics which means that they care about their products meeting the stricter safety requirements and they also do NOT test on animals although one of the ingredients in the «renewal» line for anti-aging, does include «emu» oil which is an essential oil from the skin of the Emu.
Now the products in her skincare line are on the rather pricey side. The good news is that there are some smaller trial size packages you can buy to get a variety for less. The bad part is that not every product she carries can be bought in individual trial sizes or in everything they carry. However, they do have a good return policy and this is one of the safest and most non toxic skincare lines on the market, as far as anti-aging and sunscreens go.
I will definitely try a few of the other products once I am able to afford it. But for now, I’m very happy with the one product I did try and my only complaint would be the price.

The skin industry bombards and permeates the public conscience through visual media, capitalizing on people’s naïveté of our largest organ, marketing products consisting of inorganic ingredients (synthesized chemicals, bleaches and fragrances) to represent the «cure» for whatever rosacea/acne/rash/scar condition they might have. Well, I say it’s usually not a cure, more like a «Symptom disguise.»
If you’re lucky enough to try Marie’s products, which are mostly all organic with no parabens or synthetic ingredients, they might change the way you think about your skin. The philosophy of feeding your skin nutrients to repair, heal and build its overall health seems to fit Marie’s line perfectly. I found them last year at Elephant Pharmacy and in 7 – 8 months, along with minor dietary and lifestyle changes have seen remarkable results. Her knowledge of sun care is unparalleled, with products of real zinc oxide and essential oils (I use them for surfing and everyday use) to help protect from sun, environmental toxins and florescent lighting. Needless to say, I’ve thrown out all the Banana Boat and other junky lotions I used to own.
Marie is a savior and innovator, a real pioneer in her industry, and when you buy her products, you are buying real ingredients from the Earth in glass bottles (sustainable) and investing in your body’s well being.
