So only reason I give them 2 and not one is the benefit of the doubt. I ordered a slice and it took over and hour and 20 before we left. They did bring us bread sticks but over an hour for 1 slice is rough. Feel bad but probably won’t go back.

Not sure why this place is not a full on 4 – 5 star Unilocal-​reviewed place? I love that you can get quite a variety of slices at usually any time. The staff are incredibly nice, and the owner has a built in tip policy with the prices to ensure employees get treated fairly.

The food was okay. They had a black and white movie playing on the TV. The customer service needs work. I have the bartender my debit card and she told me that I didn’t give her anything. I paid for my meal and I asked Melissa the other bartender if she finds a card to please put it away. Her rude response was «I’m sure I won’t find it» I never been so insulted. Very rude

My husband and I have been here a few times mainly because they are one of the few food places in the area that are open late. The pizza is good, NY-​style with thin crust. They also serve salads, calzones, lasagna, etc. You can also build your own pizza.
The service is great, the staff are all friendly and timely. There’s free Wi-​fi (decent signal) and outlets for those that wanna study. They have outdoor seating with heat lamps. The place is decorated with vintage décor, fresh flowers at the bar, light rock music, and a couple of TVs. The atmosphere– relaxed, pub-​feel. It doesn’t look spacious from the outside but there is plenty of seating inside. There’s a bar where you can sit/​eat/​drink as well as tables that give off a great family– friendly environment. I see little kids all the time at tables and they look pretty happy while mostly groups of 1 – 2 enjoying their meals/​beverages sitting at the bar.
Things I don’t like– the bathroom was not clean (only one bathroom for all to share) and there are a lot of flies which raises sanitary concerns. I’m not sure if the flies are coming from the bathroom or kitchen uncleanliness. Other than that, this place is great!

Good location, Good service and Good Pizza. The service, probably because they don’t have tips, feels more genuine which I appreciate. They’re also accommodating. One time, they forgot to bring my order to the kitchen, but they quickly placed it and gave me complementary food for the trouble. Food is good, but not unbelievable which is why I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5.

Not the best pizza ever, but not bad. Good atmosphere for coming with a group and getting drinks.
Their vegan pizza is really good; much better fake cheese than most places, although it costs a lot.

I went here with a friend for a few slices on a Saturday night a couple weeks back. It’s a really casual place and was pretty quiet for being around 9pm on a Saturday.
Our server was really nice and attentive, and when finding out that the slices we wanted were still being cooked (they have a few of the special kinds each day along with the standards), we made the very right decision to just wait for the fresh pies. I’ve never been a big fan of pizza but this was pretty darn good. Thin crust is nice as long as it isn’t too crunchy and this was a great texture. I had a slice of the Splitter (chicken, roasted peppers, spinach, and 4 cheeses) and it was so fresh and had a great balance of toppings. My friend had a Chopper (pepperoni, sausage, salami, bacon, and Canadian bacon) and a Hawaiian Split (4 cheeses, Canadian bacon and pineapple). He was very happy with his slices.
I had gotten a combo of a slice and a mixed green salad, and the salad was really good — none of this lame iceberg stuff. It was real greens and the house vinaigrette was delicious.
I don’t think I’d ever order a full pizza from here since it’s pretty expensive but it’s a nice place to go catch up over some yummy slices (and for me salads). My friend loves beers so he got something nice with his slices — that was another draw of Lanesplitter was the beer selection.

Beer selection was okay. Really wish they had some delish meat pizzas though. Bartender was cool, but patronage knew little of filmography.

I grew up on the east coast and this pizza is by far the worst I’ve ever eaten. the sauce was barely existent and flavorless; if possible there was even less cheese and meat than sauce. and 25 for their smallest pizza with one topping?! to add insult to injury I was overcharged and the person behind the register said he didn’t know if he could refund me the amount I WAS OVERCHARGED. not only did he not even apologize he seemed like I was somehow being a burden when I said that I would like him to check with his manager. worst customer service ever. I will never eat there again, even with my credit for the overcharge. people! go to one of the many fine pizza establishments in the east bay! anywhere but here…

1 star, wish we could give 0. We ordered a large Baja pizza from here today and found these pieces of jewelry in the dough. These could have been a choking hazard so we are sorely disappointed.

I ordered for delivery on a late night and it arrived in less than the quoted 30 minutes. I was impressed with the quality, service, and the thin crust. I’ve been living in the Bay Area for 4 years now and I haven’t had thin crust this good until now! The blend of the cheese, roasted garlic, mushrooms, sausage, are so delicious, simple, and to the point. It is on the pricey side. They’re not as greasy as Round Table.

Pretty impressive to find a pizzeria that pays their employees a livable wage, health care, and a lot of other benefits that a lot people are struggling to achieve in the Bay Area. I can appreciate the purpose therefore I understand the expensive price tag. I can dig the beer, pizza by the slice is always the way to go during a quick lunch munch.

I had a slice of pizza here last week and couldn’t stop thinking about it. Although it was reheated and cost me $ 5, it was delish. I love NY style pizza… the thinner the crust, the better. The crust was perfect here. I ordered a slice of the carnivore — sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, and onion. Although toppings were minimal, I enjoyed the crust more than anything else. It was perfect to fold in half and chomp away.
Perfect spot to grab a slice and a beer. 4 stars.

I first wrote a review when I didn’t have kids or live in the neighborhood. I loved it then, still love it now. Great thin crust pizza and a small but mighty selection of craft beers.
Two kids later, we live in walking distance and go here once a week. It is a great place for families and groups, especially with the beer garden in back with the long tables, fairy lights, and giant redwood. Strangers often end up talking with each other in this enchanting area where kids from one table often mingle with kids at another table.
Better yet, they pay living wages to all, abolished the tips, and hire people who live in the community.

Look, this place has a few shortcomings but basically, for what this half-​ass world we live in has to offer, this place is about as good as it gets… In terms of service vs Price vs vibe vs whatever else…
Eaten/​drank here about 20 times and different locations. Food is great. Not ubercritique, holyhell, nose-​in-​the-​air great but. Great.

This is the way of the future. As per usual what Europeans consider socially standard. They pay the staff very well so you don’t tip and the staff all feels equal and appreciated. Biggest thumbs up I can give on that. Already bragging on this behalf on FB.
Vegan options thumbs up! thumbs slightly down, they allow the soy cheese pizza to get old at the end of the night. Presumably because few folks order it but I was randomly present for a night when 3 vegans arrived having driven from Sacramento to get it and were sorely disappointed with the wilted taste of negligence… I don’t think these guys realize how many vegans love them and despite the register records of vegan pizza sales, how much business they are getting from vegans that bring their non-​vegan friends/​family (I do) to it as a trickle down…
Normally I’d give it a 4 star for that but this place is so great for so many reasons, I’m giving it 5 and just hoping they care enougt to read this and keep their fresh notta-​ricotta slices fresh so we don’t have to feel like second class citizens amongst those who seek to cater to us.

Lanesplitter pizza is a solid NY-​style pizza joint in the East Bay.
One thing i don’t like about this place: its way, way over-​priced. I mean $ 30 bucks for a 15 inch pizza with a few toppings on it? Goodness! Anyway, ordered delivery here the other day. We got half garlic /​half pesto, mushroom, onion on a four cheese. I actually did not like the four cheese at all – would’ve much preferred the cheaper option of just mozzarella.
The pizza overall was pretty good, the pesto was by far the better half. However, the pizza really soggy, even after popping it in the oven to try and crisp it up. For the garlic half, they give you huge chunks of garlic, rather than minced garlic, and plenty of it. This may be one of the rare-​if-​ever-​cases that I actually thought there was too much garlic on something.
Anyways, overall it was pretty good, but would probably not order pizza here again simply because its outrageously expensive. I’d rather opt for LaVals or Rotten city. While Lavals is much cheaper, they delivers and Rotten City is around the same price range for pizza miles better than they serve up here.

You know how there was a LAW passed saying that minimum wage has to be $ 15 an hour? Lane splitter decided to up the prices on their menu, and get rid of tips. So now… instead of the $ 30ish an hour these guys were making they’re now making HALF of that. All bc lane splitter thinks leaving that tip box open will deter people from going there. $ 15 IS NOT A LIVING WAGE in THE BAY.
I’ve gone here for years and it’s always been a «good enough» type of spot for an afternoon slice… but I won’t support these business practices.
Bring tipping back and I’ll come back. It’s just plain selfish of the owners. I bet they shop at Walmart too.
These people work hard. And deserve to be tipped. Don’t support them. There’s a thousand better pizza places with better business practices.

Before I write this review, I want readers to know that I spent several years as an employee in a pizza restaurant, as a delivery driver in a pizza restaurant, and as a manager of a pizza restaurant. I don’t like writing bad reviews of restaurants, because I know how difficult it is to get it right 100% of the time. However, this was too bad to ignore.
At first, seeing a $ 30 pizza with $ 3 toppings was a little shocking. However, their website explained that this was due to paying their employees a living wage of «$ 15 — $ 25» with «tips not required.» Without making this review political, it’s hard to justify supporting this policy as a consumer that is now required to pay twice as much for a pizza. But, this was the only place that delivered — so, here goes.
We ordered a large double pepperoni, double cheese pizza. Delivery time was quoted at 45 minutes. 75 minutes later, the pizza arrived — at a business — with no utensils/​napkins. Making matters worse, no double pepperoni or double cheese ($ 6 value). To further our frustration… the pizza was dried out with burnt bubbles (from using improperly proofed dough).
From the late arrival, to the failure to include utensils for a business delivery, to the $ 6 charge for the omission of extra toppings, to the horrific quality of the pizza — it was an insult to have been charged $ 30.
The staff member on the phone, who then transferred us to the staff member at their delivery location, and the staff member delivering the pizza, were incredibly lackadaisical in their handling of our order from start to finish. Had we been left feeling that the staff cared at all, we might’ve called back to have them fix our order. However, we were more interested in enjoying our time in the San Francisco area to wait another 75 minutes for another poor quality, $ 30 pizza.
There were many people at this business who saw us with the pizza, and were excited that a restaurant delivered. They asked us where we ordered it from, and we told them all our story. The silver lining here is that we probably cost Lanesplitter $ 300 in revenue by the time we left, and ensured that our fellow visitors had a far more enjoyable lunch.

I don’t really know why I love Lanesplitter Pizza & Pub as much as I do. Probably because it was one of the first places I visited solo when in Berkley and they were wicked friendly and I enjoy their pizza!
There are so many awesome beers on draft. Lately I’ve been shying away from IPAs because they can be really aggressive to drink. I’m happy to report that Lanesplitter Pizza & Pub carries many other easy drinking light and dark beers, and wine. My friend has a really tasty German white wine that was perfectly chilled, tasty!
They offer some really creative pizzas but I like to stick to some of the more basic varieties. The bacon they have here is really some of the best I’ve ever had on a pizza. I also have to give a shout out to the salads. My salad arrived packed with the usual greens but also beans and chick peas and all kinds of really fresh additions.
The thing I like best if they’ve gone to paying their workers a living wage. That means you’re paying more for your food and drinks but you don’t tip, and I’m so totally down with that. It’s really expensive to live here and I think it’s really cool that Lanesplitter values their employees enough to pay them a wage they can actually live on.
