I can only comment on the desserts, because I haven’t had the opportunity to try the main dishes. The desserts are fantastic. My favorite is the Tarte Tatine — and upside-down caramelized apple tart. It’s like a more heavenly version of apple pie.

I’m not suppose to eat bread. But when I sneak out and cheat on my diet this is where I go. So delish

The best of French pastries. The Opera is perfect, so is the millefeuille, so is the bittersweet chocolate tart. On the savory side, the Pissaladiere is exactly what I recall eating in the South of France. Thank you La Bedaine, you brought me so much joy!

Pain Au Chocolat and bittersweet chocolate tarts are so delish! The meatloaf, cold sandwiches, and duck are out of this world! I’ve taken the prepackaged meals to dinner parties and I tell you they were the talk of the party. Absolutely amaze!

I have loved everything I’ve bought, from desserts to main courses, to pates. It’s a great resource if I am having company and need a little help. They made a fabulous roast chicken that came with fingerling potatoes, but apparently there wasn’t enough demand and they have stopped. What a shame!

Best Pan au Levain.(period) Thank goodness I don’t live close by: I would be doomed to wear another 10 lbs.

This is the only place to get croquembouche. Maybe I’m wrong but this is where I get my fix.

I stopped here out of the whim before they closed. The person, who I am guessing is the owner, had an authentic French accent. Anyways, the pastries were great!!! I got a Bittersweet chocolate tart and Pain au Chocolat. OMG. The tart was delicious as was the croissant. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. The prices were very affordable. The quality of the food… amazing. Parking can be found, but on a busy night or day, I am unsure. Definitely a good find for me!

I love this place. We went here a lot because it was right around the corner from our home in Berkeley. They have the best croissants, breads, and quiches for breakfast, a wonderful selection of sandwiches for lunch(I liked the reuben or the hummus best), and a wide assortment of dinners, which you can heat up at home. I probably made one of their meals fro dinner about once a week for an entire year. Only one of those was less than perfection. Their meatloaf, asparagus/mushroom risotto, and coq au vin were my very favorites. The people who own La Bedaine are so friendly and wonderful. We would often see the owners with their two sweet daughters walking past our house at the end of the day. The girls’ artwork adorns the shop windows. It is a real family business, and they make you feel quite at home when you shop there. It is just absolutely a gem in the neighborhood.

My wife and I will come here when we don’t want to cook dinner; maybe too tired; maybe too late. His method of sous-vide renders food delicious. You warm it up in a hot water bath for 12(veal Frenchy-French), 15(chicken Frenchy-French) or 20 minutes for his wonderful potato gratin. The meat and fish dishes come with vegetables and some potatoes, always excellent. And then we discovered his bread and smoked salmon and chocolate chip cookies. Whew! What a find.

After we finish eating at the neighboring restaurants we always end up at this little take-out, hole-in-the-wall spot. Most of their pastries are quite good, but the one we really love the most and think is particularly special is the chocolate tart. That said, anything here with a crust is good so don’t limit yourself. We haven’t tried any of the lunch items but hopefully someday when we’re not quite as full from the other places on Solano we’ll give those a go. Until then, this is a good spot for delicious, sweet treats.

Excellent service. Wonderful owner. Chocolate croissant, tarts, éclair… Just do it. They run out before 2 so go earlier if you can ! Sandwiches are good too but nothing to drool over…

Really love this place and we have become regulars here. Having lived in Montréal for 3 years, I really miss French cuisine and it is so nice having a great bakery with croissants, chocolatine, quiche, sandwiches, desserts, and much more! I would recommend this to anyone in town who wants to taste French goods

It was a good bit of fortune coming across La Bedaine on a walk one morning. Having just left my dentist office and half my face numb, I took a little stroll while waiting for my family to come get me. I was looking for a morning treat, something tasty. La Bedaine was a wonderful surprise. A very small shop that we’ve passed by and had no idea it was there. Inside is a limited, yet imaginative assortment of beautiful pastries. Obviously quality over quantity. I chose an apricote tart, plum tart, chocolate eclaire and a scruptious custard layered cake decorated with fruits. Then I noticed something on the cooling rack. «What are those white things on the top rack?» «Meringues» I asked for two to be added to my order. When I opened the pastry boxes at home I was pleasantly surprised to find that the meringues were actually quite an unusual cookie. The chef had taken some delicious chocolate and coated the bottom of one meringue and attached the other meringue. It was a funny shaped, delicate ball of awesomeness. I’ve never seen this done before and honestly, if this is common, I’m glad I tried it at La Bedaine first. I’m just glad I finally found this little French gem, where they bake their own goods there. The eclaire was filled with a chocolate mousse that was light, fluffy and oh, so chocolatey! I love the ambiance and the food.

A co-host with a last minute illness meant the baby shower I was hosting today no longer had a main course. Not only did La Bedaine take a last minute(less than 24 hr) order for 5 quiche, the customer service was great and the quiche? Spectacular. Our 30 guests couldn’t stop raving about it. As tempted as I was to say I made it myself, I fessed up and plugged away. Hopefully it generates many new customers! I’d give 6 stars if I could. We got the spinach and goat cheese, leek and hazelnut and ham and cheese. Great value for the price. Absolute deliciousness!

As a french woman, I have extremely high standards for croissants, baguettes, pain au chocolat ect. This place hits the spot when I want a croissant. The pain au chocolat are really good as well, they are not cheap on the chocolate and for now I only had fresh out of the oven ones! Mmmh. It’s not quite like home but will do perfect when I’m craving some. Very nice service and I really want to try their foie gras. Will definitely be a regular here. *update* we tried their quiches: I died and went to heaven.

Gorgeous, delicate, nice selection this sunny, warm afternoon. Indeed, the bedaine is unhealthy and growing widthwise, with such quality Fr goodies.
