I started disassembling electronics when I was fifteen years old. The first electronic equipment I got my hands on was a Atari video game console. I just wanted to see what was inside it. I did not completely disassemble it but I was able to see several boards inside the console. The second time I opened the Atari system was when the unit would not power on even when the DC supply was plugged in. So, the first thing I did was buy an analog multimeter to check if the dc supply had the required voltage. After confirming that the dc adapter had the voltage mentioned on it, I moved on to the port where the dc jack would plug in. The console would work if I put the plug in a certain direction and put some force in it. I was certain that the dc port was the culprit. So, I carefully disassembled the unit to get to the dc port and I found out that one of the metal plate going into the electrical board was broken. This is how I started disassembling and repairing simple connector problems.
