i see someone else who basically had the same experience with this guy. He began the conversation by saying that he doesn’t get paid for this work. i suppose if i hadn’t told him that he needn’t have called me back to tell me that, thank him for his time and hang up, he would have tried, like he did with Sean B. to sell me on an alternate plan. Don’t waste your time.

Ezra was really helpful to me when I was signing up for health insurance this year. It’s my first time getting insurance on my own, and he helped me navigate the covered California website with ease. He gave really good tips about insurance, he was patient with my questions and kind with his answers. And there was no fee for his service, so all the better. I feel so much better with Ezra in my corner.

I asked Ezra for help renewing my Covered CA insurance and had a very different experience than other Unilocal reviewers. It makes me wonder if he paid people to post 5* reviews.
The biggest reason I wanted to use a broker was to have an expert tell me which plan was the best for my situation and twice, he seemed to direct me toward a plan that wasn’t in my best interest. I felt like I wasted 30 minutes of my time.
He only takes appointments by phone. I told him I wanted his help in determining the best policy for me and hoped he could renew my policy so I wouldn’t have to deal with Covered CA directly and he said he could help.
At one point, he suggested that I get a policy directly from Kaiser since he’d get an extra $ 50 commission that way. I told him I thought applying through Covered CA would save me money and asked him what the income limits were for the tax credits. After fumbling around for a while he determined that, yes, I would save about $ 3,000 per year going with Covered CA.
He got very confused and frustrated when he asked me to log on to the Covered CA website and it came up with the renewal page (which it does automatically if you’re renewing) instead of the home page that he’d expected.
As our time was running out and he hadn’t provided any direction on choosing a health plan, I asked again if he could recommend the best plan for me. Without asking anything about my health or how I use health care, he said he liked the Kaiser Silver plan. I asked how he could recommend a plan without knowing anything about me and, sounding exasperated, he said that it hadn’t been a recommendation and that I just needed to go onto the Covered CA website and choose a plan I liked. (I could have done that easier myself.)
We made an appointment for a second call to finish up the process but I cancelled that appointment. Maybe we would have connected better and finished the process but I just didn’t trust him after the first call.
He did submit a partial application on Covered CA for me which is the only reason he got two stars instead of one.

I’m a difficult person to reach. I know nothing about healthcare. I am lax on nearly all aspects of my «things to do now!» list. Still, Ezra stuck with me, explaining away the difficulties in obtaining healthcare upon moving back to SF, and providing tremendously insightful perspective to the local healthcare system. To say he is outstanding is an understatement. Thank you Ezra!

Ezra rocks. There’s no better way of saying it really. He managed to facilitate an incredibly tedious task (finding health insurance) into something else. Do not get me wrong… It still may be arduous (mostly because I’m indecisive) but Ezra made it infinitely more tolerable.

I haven’t had health insurance in about 4 years and the last time I had it, it was through an employer. I’ve (foolishly) never shopped for or looked into health insurance, so I had no idea what to look for in a plan/​provider. I was also having technical problems with the Covered California website. I was about to give up and go another year with out health insurance and receive a tax penalty. Luckily, I called Ezra. It was the very last day to enroll and Ezra helped me to find the right plan at the right rate and got me signed up just in time. He helped me to navigate through unfamiliar territory and answered all my questions without judgment. Truly amazing! I am so thankful that Ezra answered my call. Now that I understand the system a little bit more, I can’t believe I have gone this long with out health insurance.

Ezra is amazing! I called him two days after the health insurance sign up deadline and he was able to ask me questions that helped me actually be able to sign up and receive coverage! He went above and beyond in helping me by calling Covered California and working with the representative to get me insured. I am so thankful I called Ezra and that I now have health insurance!!!

Ezra was a tremendous help for me when I needed new insurance as an independent contractor. He listened to what I was looking for, helped educate on areas I was looking for help on, and guided me through selecting a good health care plan through Covered California. We then sat together going through the actual website application system, made sure all my documents were correct and got uploaded as needed, and just really smoothly got everything up and running.
Best of all he was never pushing me for extra policies I didn’t need (I’ve had that experience elsewhere and it originally made me give up on agents and try to go it alone).

Ezra just enrolled me in Covered California. Having grown up abroad with national health insurance, I’ve always been really confused with health insurance in the states. Working with Ezra, he was able to break down the difference between different plans, terminology, and tax information in a way that was easy for me to understand. I also do a lot of temp/​contract work which makes things trickier, but Ezra worked with me through figuring it out and I’m thankful to have him as my agent!

Ezra is not your normal insurance rep. He is a dedicated individual that works in the Covered California game because he wants to help people find the best health insurance to fit their individual or family needs.
I work in a coworking with space with him so I have witnessed his interactions with his clients on a regular basis. All I can say is that he is truly inspirational.
