Holly Wieber, DDS

Tiffany, the dental hygienist, who worked in my mouth was super friendly and easy to talk to. She was so knowledgeable and was so nice to answer the bunch of questions I had to ask. Tiffany also told me some things about my teeth that I didn’t know about! Like the places I needed to make sure I extra paid attention to flossing because of the anatomy of my mouth. She was so gentle in the whole process. She even was knowledgeable with my SHIP insurance and told me that I get a free fluoride treatment! When I told her that my previous dentist never told me that, she explained that some people don’t need fluoride treatments or it wouldn’t do much for them compared to others.
Dr. Wieber was great as well. She was the first dentist I’ve ever had who gave me specific instructions on who to contact and what to tell them for the gum issue I was having over my molars.
So many unanswered questions were solved with my visit to Dr. Wieber’s office. Their front end staff were also very friendly and easy making appointments with. I would highly recommend people to come here! I just wish they had a website or an email.

OK, update: while Wieber herself always did a great job with me (thanks!) the office is a mess. Examples:
(1) They called me up to schedule an appointment with Dr. Wieber, because I’m due for a cleaning. They specifically said «with Dr. Wieber». I go the next week, and turns out, they scheduled me while she’s out for the week on vacation. I’m seen by her associate… When she gets back, she sees something in my file that she wants to take a look at. So I have to go in again. What kind of office schedules appointments for a doctor while that doctor is on vacation?
(2) Every time there is a temp doing the cleaning. Several different ones. One time she was so new didn’t seem to know her way around the office, like where the various supplies were.
(3) Some glitches in the computer system. I got an auto-​reminder of an appointment the next day. When I showed up, they couldn’t find my appointment in their system.

Fantastic service, fantastic dentist (Dr. Holly Wieber). Not often do you hear a dentist’s visit to be a pleasant experience, but at her office, it truly is. UC Berkeley students with SHIP– go to her!
For your first visit, she will take a comprehensive oral exam, including an X-​ray. I did that about two years ago, and now that I have to get my wisdom teeth removed, I simply called the receptionist and requested the x-​ray images be sent to me so I can forward that to my oral surgeon. That took less than a minute.
Convenience, professionalism, great care, and great customer service. What more could you want in a doctor?

Dr holly wieber is a great dentist and if you need your teeth cleaned you must go see Tiffany she is gentle and thorough. And for the first time I look forward to getting my teeth cleaned. the while crew is friendly and efficient!

Just got back from my 2x a year visit, and felt inspired to give Dr. Wieber and her staff some kudos. I’ve been pretty lucky with dentists — never had one who was actually bad — but Dr. Wieber and her staff are just wonderful.
DR. WIEBER is not only highly experienced and extremely skilled, she also takes the time to explain what’s going on with your teeth, gums, etc. If you need a procedure and there are different options, she’ll explain the pros and cons, including costs, and she doesn’t try to foist expensive procedures on you just to fatten the bill. In fact, the reverse is true. On many occasions, she has avoided extra charges by, for example, putting off x-​rays till next time if everything looks normal now. You really get the sense that she knows her stuff, and that’s something that cannot be said about every dentist.
TIFFANY, the hygienist, is just a jewel of a human being. She’s smart, pleasant, and professional. Almost makes me look forward to going to the dentist (almost!).
THE OFFICE STAFF is also first-​rate. LINDA, the long-​time office manager, is always pleasant and friendly, always greets you by name, and has everything under control re: follow ups, billing, and so on.
They’re always right on schedule at Dr. Wieber’s office; I have never had to wait beyond my appointment time, which says a lot about how these folks run their practice.
I’d recommend Dr. Wieber to anyone looking for a great dentist and a pleasant, low-​stress dentist office experience in general.

I was a patient of Dr. Wieber’s for 3.5 years while working at UC Berkeley, and really enjoyed the service and interaction. She was very friendly, examinations and cleaning were quick and efficient, and she uses up-​to-​date equipment. It was fairly easy to book appts as well. I would recommend Dr. Wieber.

Dr. Weiber is very kind and sweet. Some say she’s a little spacey, but I think the work she does is fine. Not a bad choice.

I was referred to Dr. Weiber by my roommate after having a bad experience with another dentist in Berkeley. It took a few weeks to get an appointment, but the receptionist was friendly and went out of her way to schedule a time that worked well for me. The reception area is light, bright and almost feels like a spa. They have free tea and water available for patients.
Dr. Weiber was very friendly, conversational and gentle. She looked at my teeth that allegedly had cavities in them, and confirmed my suspicion that they had deep grooves, and slight stains on them, but did not meet the criteria for a cavity and did not need to be filled.
If you are looking for an honest, kind dentist I highly recommend Dr Weiber!

Dr. Holly is the best dentist I have been to in the Bay Area!
Todays visit was great — first I had a few quick x-​rays to update my file (they have a new digital x-​ray system that instantly shows your x-​rays on the computer, super easy and pain-​free for patient and the technician). Then Dr. Holly came and chatted with me (she’s very friendly), checked out all my teeth, she personally cleans, polishes and fluorides your teeth which assures me that I am getting the best care. She was very thorough about checking all of the existing dental work that I have had done and making sure that things are in working order and don’t need replacement. She is honest and definitely tells you when things need to be addressed or if you just need to check back in 6 months (I have an old filling that is still hanging in and she’s been great about attending to it and making sure its still up to par).
I also really appreciate that she educates you about your teeth and dental health (and in a very comfortable way that doesn’t make you feel like an asshole for not flossing enough). She is very kind and clearly cares about her patients.
I highly recommend a visit to Dr. Holly Wieber, she will take excellent care of you and your teeth!

My entire jaw has been under the care of Doctor Wieber for almost 15 years. She has seen me through countless cleanings, a gold crown for the only «problem» tooth in my head, and wisdom teeth extraction (general please… not local like last time in LA with another Dentist).
Doc Wieber is professional, pleasant, and humourous — a great chairside manner. I’m lucky to have her as my Dentist. Highly recommended.

I hate dentists, but I love Dr. Wieber! She goes out of her way to put her patients at ease, and unlike most dentists, she doesn’t make you feel guilty about your dental hygiene habits (or lack of them!). It’s easy to see that she has your best interests at heart, and isn’t prescribing procedures just to make money.
However, her staff is pretty rude and confused most of the time. They mixed up my appointment dates once and kept me waiting for 45 minutes without any explanation. The equipment is also old and dinky, although everything is clean.

I didn’t receive great service here. I arrived early for my appointment and still had to wait half an hour before seeing the dentist with no explanation or apology. As soon as I came in, it seemed like a dental chop shop, rather than a professional practice. The technician who did my x-​rays took so long and seemed so confused I was going to ask her if it was her first day at work. And she forgot to put the lead drape over me until mid-​way through the x-​rays. Thanks for that extra radiation! The x-​ray machine was alarmingly old and shaky (probably part of the reason why the x-​rays took so long…).
On my way out the receptionist had me fill out my own address on the reminder postcard and then I received in the mail the next day! I’m no expert, but don’t most people have an ANNUAL checkup? Sloppy.

I really trust Dr. Wieber and her staff, after only one visit. After having the same dentist my whole life who I trusted implicitly, my husband and I moved and had to look for new dentists. I went to Dr. Wieber and he chose a dentist in SF because it’s close to his work. Our experiences were very different. Keep in mind that we are both obsessively careful with our teeth, floss multiple times a day, and never forget to brush (my husband’s dad was a dentist).
At Dr. Wieber’s office I received a stellar cleaning, and the hygienist was very careful around my back tooth that is really sensitive to temperature and pressure. Dr. Wieber pointed out what looked like the beginnings of a cavity on my molar and took x-​rays, but said «we’ll keep a close watch on it but don’t need to do anything now.» I left feeling like this woman does not try to scam you or get you to agree to expensive services– she just practices legit, careful, and honest dentistry,
My husband, on the other hand, went to Dr. Shahabi at Serenity Dental (he didn’t read the dozens of Unilocal reviews warning against this scam-​house and was wooed by the massage chairs and pleasant atmosphere). After a rushed cleaning he was told to come back and have 6 cavities filled, some of them crowns and a root canal… this on a dentists son who has only had 2 cavities in his life. That’s what I call a woman who feels pressured by financial district rent and thus convinces her patients they need costly procedures.
My husband will be getting checked by Dr. Wieber next week and I could almost guarantee that she won’t find so much wrong with his teeth…
I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Wieber.

Dr Wieber is far better than my last Dentist (Jacquelyn Williams DDS on Dana in Berkeley).
She is down to earth and I feel that her advice is based on what is right for the patient rather than what is best for her wallet.
She filled my chipped front tooth and it has been holding up nicely since February 2010. I had been putting off filling this tooth for 10 years because I didn’t trust my previous dentists. They gave me the impression that they were more interested in doing something fancy and expensive to bag the money. Dr. Wieber didn’t give me that impression.
My only nit picky issue is that the cleanings could be a little bit more thorough. I get the feeling that they don’t last as long as I’m used to them lasting when I got my cleaning done at other offices.

I’ve been going to Dr. Wieber for about 5 years and she’s great. I love that her office is chill and that she’s kind of old school. She doesn’t push fancy products or ads on you, she doesn’t try to sell you expensive procedures that you don’t need — she just takes care of your teeth. Her demeanor can seem a little brusque for sure (though she definitely warms up) and this isn’t a place with lots of bells and whistles — here’s your toothbrush and off you go. But that’s OK. I tried one other dentist once when I started working in the City, and was just kind of put off by the super high-​tech equipment, creepily perfect assistants, and urgent messages that I needed to have my teeth straightened and bleached and filed right away! I fled back to Dr. Wieber, who told me that my teeth and gums would be fine if I just kept brushing and flossing. I have, and they are.
Dr. Wieber sometimes has her colleague Dr. Yelamanchi do cleanings. He’s very nice and competent, BUT that the first time I met him he took my x-​rays and forgot to put on the lead shield with the first step. Kind of a big oops. He did look suitably horrified when I pointed it out, but I’m hoping that lapse doesn’t have lasting effects.
Otherwise, I’m perfectly happy with the homey feel of Dr. Wieber’s office.

Dr. Wieber is great, as is her staff. I’ve been going to her for almost 10 years now (wow, it’s been a while) since I started grad school at Cal. I never feel rushed, I never have to wait past my appointment time, and she speaks to my inner nerd. When I asked why novocaine was shot where she shot it, Dr. Wieber pulled out an anatomy textbook and showed me the nerves that she was targeting. I’ve gotten a handful of fillings there and they were all great. She gave me a little porcelain one up front and it’s so well matched, I can’t even remember which tooth it’s in.
The office staff is super nice and worked with me after grad school to help me with reimbursements for my new insurance company. Now I’ve moved to SF, but I still come back. She’s that good.
A special shout out to Dr. Yelamanchi who just joined the practice. He’s a little shy, but MAN is he good. I almost fell asleep while he was cleaning my teeth he was so gentle and he did a five star job. I’d go back to him any time.

I heart Dr. Wieber and Dr. Yelamanchi! They were down to earth, detail oriented, authentic and truthful. They thoroughly explained all of my symptoms and gave me suggestions on how I should protect my teeth through extremely cost-​effective measures.
They demystified the whole procedure and did not add on unnecessary «packages» like they did with western dental (which will be discussed below). Dr. Wieber examined my teeth while Dr. Yelamanchi cleaned them with extreme care and expertise. Throughout the whole process, I learned: how cavities and tartar formed, the standard ways of measuring teeth pockets, how to brush, floss, and protect my teeth on a daily basis, how to read the x-​rays, and other extremely useful practices. Afterwards, the cleaning begins. Dr. Yelamanchi was awesome! He was extremely careful and made it a very enjoyable experience. The best part is, whole thing only took less than 1 & ½ hr and they start extremely early in the morning, so you can go to work without missing much. BIG thumbs up!
Now, to rant about western dental. I recently went to western dental on shattuck and they told me that my teeth were going to break and fall if I did not have: dentures, deep cleaning, fillings, and a bunch of other ridiculous procedures which added up to 2 – 3,000 dollars! In fact, they did not even give me cleaning because they said it’s either I do the whole package or cleaning would not be of any use. Total BS! if you are in the same position as I was, you should know what to do next. Go to Dr. Wieber!
