The courts are a little beaten down, but by far the best and most convenient place to play tennis if you’re living around campus. Be courteous and book your courts. It’s awkward having to kick people off the courts. Note: you can only book courts twenty-hour in advance. You can also book a court for two hours(one hour per person, and the assumption is that you will play with a partner). You can play night tennis here, but I suggest that you book courts closest to the entry. The court furthest from the entry tend to have busted lights. The middle courts also don’t enjoy sufficient lights. Pro-tip: You can only book the courts till 10pm, but you can keep playing until somebody fails to turn the lights on and the lights to dark for the night. I’ve played with a couple of friends here before till 2am! We only stopped playing because the Carl(the fog) rolled in. We ended up crashing at a friend’s place nearby. Oh, undergrad years… Such fond memories!

I love playing here during my undergraduate tenure at Cal. You can join Tennis at Cal to meet people of the same playing ability/level. I recommend to always book the court prior playing here, so that you won’t get interrupted in the middle of your match. It’s hard to play here during the day because RSF holds tennis classes here.
